I was curious about scientology and wanted to know more. I did a paper on it for a class. I am an ex psych patient who escaped from psychiatry as it did nothing for me. I read kevin trudeau's book and thought dianetics could help me. I soon found out I could not get auditing due to my psych history. They also told me I could not work at a mission because of my psych history. Hubbard's policy they said. (Is that legal?) Didn't matter that I pulled myself out of psychiatry and off meds and treated myself holistically for depression. I am much better doing things on my own. I didn't like my living enviroment and income and scientology staff told me to work a low paying job to get. Out. I told them no as I am an honor student and finishing my education. (College) to make a long story short I was getting dianetics auditing but am quitting as they call me late and want me to come in for a session or after work when I'm tired. I'm sick of them bugging me and I have responsibilities and am not dropping what I'm doing to suit them! I also enjoy reading many paths and self help books on the bus which they didn't like! I enjoy learning about many paths and am open to all regardless of sexual orientation, creed etc which they didn't like.

Hi budgie. I'm glad you're here, and looking into your situation from a research perspective.

I can't say if it is legal to preclude you based on your history, but in many places, I think the answer would be "yes."

I hope you find what you're looking for in life, and wish you well.

My recommendation is to stay out of Scientology. It is a trap.

On another note:
You stopped taking psych meds? Wow. Some of them are extremely addictive like Paxil.

Welcome!

Read *everything* you can here on the net.

You don't need to join Scientology to learn about it.

Read, look, listen, learn both sides---and stay as far
away from them (C of $) as you can. They're *very* good
at very bad things, and most don't even know it.

P.S. YES! YES!

Finish Your Education!

Scientology will invalidate education, tell you what they're doing is more important---I am a perfect example of their
world. I quit college, trained with them for 30 years---
and here I am, trained in what?

I am going to slave away for the rest of my life, because
I believed people just like the very jack asses trying to get you to do the same:
DON'T LET THEM GET YOU. :omg:

My best,

Well done on holding your ground on what you are doing with your life, what you read and what you think. Keep doing it!

I was halfway through university when I got in. I was pressured and manipulated to quit and go on staff instead. Stupidest move of my entire life! Don't make the same mistake. Whatever they tell you, it is NOT out ethics to get your education, nor is it out ethics to read books and get all information.

They are a very controlling group. And very manipulative. Approach with extreme caution.

Read the Milgram Experiment and the Stanford prison experiment and keep them in mind when dealing with these people.

Challenging them on the legality of denying you an opportunity to work in their "mission" could be interesting ... however, you wouldn't want to work there anyway, as it would require a contract (at least two years) and they do not pay even minimum wage -- you work lots of hours for no money.

Best stay away from them all together.

Wishing you weren't here, sort of...

Budgiemom,

There is nothing good for you in Scientology, because there is nothing good for anybody in Scientology. Please, please step back and think for yourself for a while before you have any more dealings with the Cult of Scientology.

Scientology has very few secrets. (The whereabouts of Shelley Miscavige or her mortal remains is one thing we don't know...) but Scientology has no secret 'truths' to reveal to you. You can read all of Scientology's 'holy Scripture' right here on the Internet... and save yourself over $350,000 in the process. You'll find it to be a catalogue of fantasy and evil intent.

Better yet, look elsewhere, find another hobby... and have a great life. Scientology can only hurt you.

This is NOT OK !!!!

Having a Psych history is the BEST THING THAT COULD HAVE EVER HAPPENED TO YOU in relation to Scientology.

Congratulations!

But when stats are down, they'll bend the rules and if you have ANY $, something will get worked out.

My advice:

A small course of ECT.

That'll scare them away forever.

Good luck.

P.S. Got any leftover meds? Just asking. :coolwink:

Budgiemom, It's much less painful to learn through the experiences of others than having to live it yourself. I wish this message board was here back in 1979 prior to making my decision of getting involved with scientology. I wasted 10 years of my life I can't get back. Others on this thread were in much longer than I. If you are looking for help there are other options you have where you'll be able to find what you're looking for. If you give some kind of indication as to what type of issues you are dealing with you'll find some people here giving suggestions on how you can possibly handle them.

I don't fully understand your post. I believe you state that you could not get auditing because of your psych history, but then they are calling you to come in for a session. Are you getting auditing?

I didn't understand this either. In my 30 years in Scientology, people with psych histories, especially if they had taken any kind of psych drugs were illegal pcs and weren't ever allowed to get any auditing in the CoS.

If you still want auditing, Budgiemom, you might want to check out Dulloldfart here on ESMB - he has an online site called Paul's Robot where you can try out free auditing online, or there are people outside the CoS that audit Book I Dianetics and other services from Scientology. Book I is really easy to audit and you could twin up with a friend and audit each other when you both have free time.

Whatever you do, don't quit college for anybody. I quit in my Sr year for Scientology and I've regretted it ever since. It was a very foolish mistake on my part. My father told me to finish school first and then do Scientology if I wanted to....I wouldn't listen to him. And of course, since he was trying to get me to finish college first, he then became the SP that was interferring with my Bridge and that made a huge mess in my family and ruined our relationship for the rest of any life we had left together. I joined Scientology because I believed that Scientology had this wonderful route to Total Spiritual Freedom and Full OT and I wanted to train up to be one of their auditors so that I could help others to achieve this wonderful state. 30 years later they spit me out the door because I wouldn't give them any more money. In 30 years I never saw anybody reach the purported state that Scientologists hope to reach....that magical state of Full OT and total cause, where one can control their whole life and everything around them. The Church of Scientology doesn't have that, but will try to sell it to you anyway. They lie. It's a con. Stay away from it. There are many other sources in life in the direction of increased spirituality, and help if you want it, that won't take your time, your life, your dreams and your money away from you.

And if you've paid for any services there, and/or still have any money on account in the CoS......ask for your money back.
