I actually grew up naturally well muscled. Even at age 14 I have another shot after a surf race where is shows, even if at a much younger and underdeveloped age.

But at age 15 I started serious swim training (late by today's standards), plus I used to spend all weekend surfing swim racing, surfboard riding, etc.

I swam 6+ miles a day the hard way in training for 8-10 years . . . time trials against the clock all the way after a quarter mile warm up swim.

Truth is, it was breakthrough research training in the early days. Few did it. Today, many athletes are well muscled like that. It was not as common in the '50's . . . as you can see by the other lads in the pic.

I was lucky, I lived a couple of hundred yards from the swim pool and also the surf beach I grew up on. So it all came naturally to me. Even as a kid I was into the swim and surf thing. I won my first swim race at about 6 or something

And then there's the sheep hypothesis. Last month, Muslims celebrated Islam's Feast of the Sacrifice, during which it is traditional for each family to slaughter a sheep - and the extra demand requires that many more sheep are imported. Ships transporting sheep were discovered to have dumped carcasses in the Red Sea, South Sinai authorities say, drawing sharks to the area. On Wednesday, the governor said authorities are taking legal action against one of the shipping companies.

This reminds me of an anecdote from my far off days as a seaman. I had occasion to be on a vessel in Punta Arenas, Chile, aka "Bum F@ck Nowhere". PA, was/(is?) an isolated port on the Magellan Straits at the southern end of Chile, the kind of place that makes North Dakota seem like a cosmopolitan urban center.

While we were in port an italian-flagged freighter was tied up at the dock for several days. They were there to load sheep for transport to europe. Everyday they loaded live sheep up the ramps and penned them in their lower holds. Every night sheep died in part as a result of the crowded conditions in the hold. First thing in the morning the crew would pull out the dead sheep and dump them over the side. When the culling of the dead was done, they then recommenced loading operations for the day.

In talking with one of the seaman on the freighter, he admitted that sheep were ill-suited for life at sea. Evidently it disagreed with their (multiple) digestion system. As a result they would be disposing sheep over the side every day of the trip from south america to europe. Standard practice was to recognize that there would be a large "kill off" before the ship reached port again and to greatly overload the ship before departure counting on the subsequent deaths to reduce the onboard population to that of a "normal cargo load".

Before any of yous have a hartattack or panic atack or turn yourselves into mush, I stand corrected.

My Aangel informed me in my very hot bath, that the true term is MATE. For those of us not from down underland, it may have a different connotation...

Just do your best to duplicate the concept. Nothing scary about it. No need to fear the wall of fire and all that crapola, which just paved the way to make more money and keep a handle on it; or so it was thought, before free speech and the internet.

There is validity in the GAMES lectures: my friend and I, being MAKERS OF GAMES, have had a lot of fun relating to players, pieces, etc.

In my candy book, were everyone wins, there exists technique wherein even the smallest of pieces can be resurrected into Makers. Simply and easily.

Isn't it about time we make the truth freely given to us, free? I personally think that to put any ownership and price on the delivery of truth [which is priceless] devalues the Aid and Assist game, and brings it down into an impossibly unachievable mess [check out the CoS for example].

Bette grew up in Aiea, I believe. Center of Oahu overlooking Pearl Harbor.:confused2:

I was fortunate enough, from the age of 2, to grow up on the North Shore of Oahu = the real natural paradise.

In the TV series LOST, most of the show is filmed on the North Shore... when I watched it, I relived it as I personally had been to all those locations since a wee child and they are forever ingrained in every cell of my body and fiber of my being.

Thanks Carmelo, for posting this in its entirety. It's great to know the rest of the story. Back when I knew him in 1965 - 66, Jim was one fine man: nothing visible in the way of abuse of drugs or depression or self sabotage existed in his space. He was quite the free spirit and gifted young man. I think that STOP and SHOCK INCIDENT must have nailed him to the cross.

May he rest in peace. NOT! I'm sure he's partying hard somewhere in the universe of his choosing.
