No one in my family is starving (well... except for my trusty canine companion, who hasn’t had a square meal in yearssss!)
Today my wife is back in the hospital at Stanford, for the second time in two weeks (give or take). Going to see a doctor is not cheap. Going to Emergency is really fucking expensive. Having an operation in a world class hospital is amazingly expensive.
If you are SO, and you’re lucky, they let you get operations at LA County as a pauper.
If you have been in Sci long enough, you “know” that all illness and accidents are psycho somatic or pulled in.
Why waste money on insurance --- “betting against yourself’?
Better to live a good life and not commit the overts that cause you to pull in illness or accident.
My health insurance is $800 a month. That is a lot of money, up to the point where you realize a simple accident may cause a bill of $200,000. or $400,000. in the blink of an eye.
We have insurance, not great, but certainly adequate. We aren’t going to be hurting from this trip to Stanford. Insurance takes care of the bills. The bills are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. IT IS WORTH IT, insurance, that is.
We have some friends (both class Vllls), one of whom came down with the Big C, some years back. No insurance. Arrogance is a bitch. It cost them tons of money, and their children pitched in with tons of money. In Scientological parlance, not having insurance is an overt on yourselves and your next of kin.
By the way, my trusty canine is insured also.
