“Didn't you ever notice how it's always people who wish they had somethin' or had done somethin' that hate the hardest?” Grace Metalious
I have an older cousin that was married to a fella for a number of years. They had one son and she had a son from a previous marriage. As they are both still living, I’m gonna make up a name for him so that I can tell a little story here…let’s call him “Ron”.
My cousin is a sweet, honest and strong person. Ron was a big, very powerfully built (he could easily be mistaken for an NFL Linebacker or Olympic discuss thrower), ruggedly handsome man with a distinctive basso voice, big smile and very, very charming and endearing…when he wanted to or felt he needed to be.
In the community where they lived, Ron was always there to help the elderly widows and the neighbors and was a hard worker with considerable handyman and mechanic skills. The neighborhood children loved Ron as he was fun and played with them just like a big kid. Ron had the “gift of gab” and folks liked being around him and were endeared to him for how pleasantly helpful he was and quick to lend a cheerful, sure and willing hand. He just seemed to naturally like people (especially the elderly and children) and being with people.
Ron also liked to beat up my cousin and get in drunken barroom brawls. It was during one such brawl—about 5 or 6 years into their marriage and when their son was 4 or 5—that Ron killed a man and wound up serving 5 years in prison for Manslaughter (he got early parole for exemplary behavior). During this time my cousin provided for and raised their son and her other son and—being the saint she is—visited him every visitation day and, as he was “remorseful” and a “model prisoner”, remained married to Ron and brought him home when he was released.
Ron soon became popular around the neighborhood of the new community that my cousin had moved to while Ron was serving his time. Always friendly and quick to lend a hand, Ron was there for anyone that needed a strong back, skilled hands and a cheerfully willing attitude. The neighborhood kids loved the big, gentle and funny “bear”.
Several years later—about half way through Ron’s 5 Year Probation Period—Ron got drunk and savagely raped a 16 year old girl from the neighborhood. He went away for a long, long time and my heartbroken and profoundly scarred cousin divorced him and moved on with her children and her life.
So folks, obviously Ron wasn’t all bad. There are folks that Ron helped and was helpful to and like him, and children that had a grand, exhilarating time playing let’s pretend with what—to them—was a larger than life playful giant. But, then there are the folks that Ron tooled, fooled, used, beat up, raped and killed…and, for those folks and their loved ones and survivors, I’m sure they rue the day he came into their lives and wish that Ron had never been born.
As Forrest Gump said, “…and that’s all I have to say about that.”
Shooting Stars, Part Ten
Kristallnacht; Shooting The Stars (cont.)
“The Gate of Greed”
By the end of the ‘70’s—the Era of Cashing In (ECI)—what was kindled within El Ron earlier in that decade with the Apollo Stars had grown to a raging pyre of the “Power of Hisself’s Sourceness”. El Ron found that Hisself now had a ready and willing cadre of young, hyper-aggressive henchmen that would do anything to anyone anytime to fill and replenish Hisself’s coffers and curry favor. For El Ron, there was neither the weight of the “baggage of sharing” nor fear of “detection of deception” with this adolescent and post-adolescent crop of “Children of the Corn” (COC). They had no clue of the real events of Hisself’s long, frenetically clawing climb of ascension to “Source”. They had not been there over the 30 years of El Ron’s Mad Hatter dash from obscurity to being “IT”. Hisself “owned” them and El Ron knew that. They were “possessed” property and expendable pieces on the board to execute Hisself’s bidding—or to be executed as pawns played in Hisself’s biggest gambit; shedding the final weight of the “baggage of sharing” and snuffing the biggest internal threat of “detection of deception”…the Mission Holders.
The Mission Holders, for the most part, actually not only knew the “real” El Ron, they knew—to one degree or another—the genus of the “Tech”, actually tried their best to play by Hisself’s “Codes”, “Policy” and “Directives” as written and were, to a certain degree, legally separate and independent from the Medusa’s Head of Int “Management”. The Mission Holders were, to El Ron, very dangerous characters as they were—in the vast majority of cases—actually practicing Scn within the full scope of the depth and breadth of what El Ron had written and lectured about what “it” was for nearly 3 decades. El Ron knew damn well that the Missions had become something Hisself never expected; bigger, wealthier, stronger with more immediate potential than the Service Orgs and, ergo, Hisself. The Missions had flowered, free of the heavy “Tribute” burden, “Raiding Parties”, bloated MCCO “Soldiers of the Light of Source” (the Sea Org) and its’ decorated CommodeDoor (sorry folks, couldn’t resist that one). Unfortunately, for the Mission Holders, they were Scientologists per the description and definition of the word; El Ron, as it turns out, was not and never was a Scientologist, per Hisself’s description and definition of the word.
As the ‘80’s opened—the Era of Looting and Extorting (ELE)—all that stood between El Ron and the largess of the Missions was the GO. Although El Ron had, for the most part, been “On the Lamb” for most of Hisself’s life, the ECI saw El Ron also having to hide not only from the “Enemy” (nearly everyone) but also from all but several of Hisself’s Praetorian Guard. In my view, having known El Ron I think that, by the beginning of the ELE, hate was so much a part of Hisself’s that the thought never occurred to El Ron that Hisself actually hated anyone and, to El Ron, Hisself’s “burden” was having to dispatch whomever of “them” that needed dispatching in order to ensure that Hisself, Legacy and Loot was “Secure”…it was just the “Cross Scale of Justice” that Hisself “had to bear”. Hiding out also provided El Ron with something that Hisself dearly cherished…being “Fabian”. No one could “get” to El Ron and Hisself could act with impunity and remain not just physically and "legally" Fabian but administratively Fabian to Scns as a “Dramatis Personae” during the Kristallnacht.
I was not a participant in the ouster of Mary Sue and the COC coup d’etat over the GO, nor any of the Mission Holders shakedowns or any of the Scn Kristallnacht. However, over my years and travels in service to the CommodeDoor, I made more than a few friends and a number of good acquaintances. I knew and had chatted with folks that were on the original ACC’s, Cl VI, Cl VII, Cl VIII, Cl XII, OEC and FEBC Courses; folks that had been staff or students when El Ron was at FCDC, St. Hill, London, Joburg and LA; folks that had been in the Sea Project and on the “Mission Into Time”; folks that were GO “illuminati”; the folks that El Ron had hid-out with in NYC, the folks Hisself hid-out with after King Arthur’s Court and the folks El Ron hid-out with during the final years of the ELE. I even had the pleasure of a few chats with the real Commodore, Harry Ross Hubbard—a warm, unassuming and most charming true gentleman.
When I first saw “Forrest Gump”, I thought “Wow…in so many ways, that’s me and Scn.” I am wont to chat and dialogue with folks and learn about them, their “context”, their “Take”…just kinda how I’ve always been. I am littered with faults and human frailties but, for some reason, I’m enough of a naïve fool that folks say stuff to me that they wouldn’t tell most anyone else. I honestly don’t know why, but there’s not much “judging” or “begrudging” of others in my Heart…I said “not much” because I am human and I certainly have judged and begrudged others…but not that much and rarely with any intensity or duration. And, I’m just seemingly “dense” or “dumb” enough that what all those folks told me re: themselves’ and others and their experiences with Scn and El Ron and their “Take”—and my “Take” on their “Take” and El Ro—just didn’t “read” on a meter…and some of them sure enough told me some “stuff”.
I was fortunate enough over the years to have known and had chats and "talk shop" with a number of the “Big” Mission Holders and many of the “Moderate to Small” ones. The “Major” Missions were a huge business source for the Orgs and Flag and many of the "Moderate" to "Small" Missions were big income sources for Flag, as well. These folks were great people, highly trained, experienced “in the trenches” and, although they had much respect for El Ron, were not in “awe” of Hisself. For all El Ron’s posturing and prattling about being an “everyman”, El Ron had led a primarily insular life for nearly all of Hisself’s years as “Founder” and, later, “Source”. The Mission Holders were of the “real” world and were out there “on the front lines”—day in, day out—making something out of nothing. The GO folks knew that and they also knew the fact that the lion’s share of the “PR Coups” of the ‘70’s had come from the Missions and out of the efforts and expertise of the Mission Holders, and the “Players” that the Missions had brought into Scn. David May knew the value of the Missions and once told me in the late '70's that, by far, the best “Tech” and results he sees as Snr C/S FSO comes out of the Missions and not the Orgs.
So, I didn’t have a “front row seat” for, “Kristallnacht: Shooting The Stars”, but I did know and have “context” on most of the key protagonists and antagonists on the stage, was around the “theater” and had some "rear alley" access "backstage" to parts of it.
In a week or so,
