AFAIK, I don't think I will participate for the obvious reason. However, I wish well upon those who will do so.

I also hope that the very few who may have strayed even a little from the truth in other statements/publications will take it upon themselves not only to be sure of their rightness in their own mind but also to verify, nay even exhaustively verify, their data before submitting such for inclusion.

For the sake of any who could be hurt, I make my plea. I sympathize and I know full well the depth of emotional hurt and sometimes real danger that factual discrepancies can cause --especially when such are published and will forever remain on the World Wide Web.

(Lest I create a wrong impression, nothing I have said above is intended or directed toward Chuck. I have read and admired many postings and articles of his.)

Phyll Stevens, I haven't heard what became of her, but I sure remember she really had strong feelings of admiration and friendship for you.

I married Ann Halblom (the old FBO Flag, tall, from Boston Org), and thus I got to sit at the "Staff Captains" table, Ann had been promoted to CS-3.

When you went to Int, and then returned once or twice, I remember Phyll being all abuzz with the news from you, Phyll really loved you.

It was nice to see such good long friendships in the Sea Org. I am not sure, but I think Phyll must have passed away.

Anyways, there is so much history.

One final plea, as I am a Scientology history promoter. Despite all legal agreements, a person can ALWAYS write their private memoirs, and send them off to at least ONE safe University, and a Professor that seriously will keep matters safe.

I'm sure this one Professor will respect ANY conditions by anyone sent to him, if you send your memoirs for release after you've kicked the bucket:

The point about the memoirs is excellent. It's a bit premature to be sending them off to anyone else, scholar or not.

:yes: We need to keep in mind that David is a Newbie to the entire ex network and scene, too. He needs a chance to find his feet. We all want to hear his stories, but we'll obviously need to reign in our enthusiasm.

It occurred to me we should be asking David what his other interests are these days, creating friendships and making him comfortable.

David, I was thrilled to find out you windsurf!! Would you post a pic of you windsurfing? PLEASE? I practiced for 3 years until I finally "got" it, where I would respond to the wind with the sail as if we were one. It's a glorious feeling of space and freedom. Nice choice for a sport, David!

I have a custom windsurfer for lake windsurfing that is about 2 years old and has the retractable centreboard that I got from a retired pro. So I still have his Aus racing number on the sail! heh heh Other windsurfers treat me well when they see it. And windsurfers are an upbeat, wonderful group. Mine looks something like this, but with an AUS number on it:

Thank you for your suggestions and the remembrance of Phyll Stevens. Back in my early days, she and her then husband Steve Stevens kindly took me in to stay in their house (in Auckland). Those were the days. People enjoyed what they had gotten into and were doing. It was fun and people did get helped.

I also remember his daughter Sandra Stevens who was a very likeable and bright young lady. I haven't heard of her in many years., not since she was brought to "see the light" about a certain long-tailed squirrel. I hope that by now she has seen through that light and would enjoy hearing from her.

Well David - I must admit that at first I thought you were some phoney imposter trying to get a rise out of us. As others have done before. So I lay low and waited to see if this panned out.

So: WELCOME! :happydance::heartflower:

We have met before in passing, back on the Apollo, and I even got a letter from you once in Joburg when we were running the AAC there. Good to hear you're alive ad well.

Even superglue can be dissolved in time. I hope this happens. If not, please write your secret memoires for release after you kick the bucket one day.
 
Only rednecks would call windsurfers dilettantes!

David, pay no attention to the dogs yapping at the fire engine. We windsurfers are strong and healthy because it's hard work. A wonderful, inexpensive sport for those who fully appreciate nature and the environment and know that exquisite feeling of love and oneness from working together with the forces of nature, rather than against them.

Then again, it's not the sport for everyone... :coolwink:

I think this photo was taken by a friend and posted by one of the Ivy magazine group. I could be wrong.

I'm checking a memory stick I have for photos of these two folks hiking through some greenery with backpacks. They look so ....still on a honeymoon.
