Clears Obtained in Other Practices - Access Denied
I believe the reference being spoken of earlier in this thread, about the policy of the Church to never recognize Clears produced outside of church sanctioned auditing is: HCBO 5 Mar 1979RB Dianetic Clear False Declares (Tech Vol. XI:450 1991 ed.)
"Any org staff declaring a Dianetic Clear "achieved in other practices" is subject to expulsion from the church.
Technically, a very few thetans have never been anything but Clear. There few didn't "go Clear" on anything; they have simply always been Clear. When a natural Clear is found it should be so stated. To assign this condition to some other practice is a suppression of Dianetics and Scientology.
...
People didn't go Clear in garbage eating or psychiatry - they perish. Thus, herding people into their hands by falsely validating them is suppressive."
Soooooo . . . that fairly well tell you where the church is at with this. And were LRH was.
Or so you would think.
This reference (published in 1979) in fact created more trouble for the church than LRH could ever have imagined. You see, this opened the flood gates for hundreds of people (possibly thousands at the time) to be NATURAL CLEARS! ! ! ! The numbers of Scn's of this period who attested to this was
significant.
One can still find their folder too, 29 years later: Joe attest to Natural Clear in the spring of 1979. "YEA ! ! ! ! I am Clear! I always knew I was. It's nice to be recognized for the Big Being I am. Look forward to the OT Levels!" There are possibly a few word clearing worksheets after this. Maybe some FDSing in 1985. That is were the folder ends. It then sits in the tank for three decades.
There were a few exceptions - guys who attested Natural Clear, then bounced around up and down on the constantly changing Grade Chart for the next 30 years. You can find them still around - that guy who is still on lines at the Org, who has been for ever, that never really moves on anything.
As for attaining the state of Clear in things outside Scn - it is rather hypocritical of LRH to say the state can't be obtained outside Scn, yet at the same time say people were "all OT once". When you figure that one out, please let me know. He also talks about the state having been obtained through Buddhism, but it was "subject to relapse". Note though he said it had been obtained in Buddhism.
A cog is a cog. A person can have any cog and maybe it helps them out a good bit. Great! But will it really stick? Maybe, maybe not. If you really get them through the stages of release (described in the Release Stages HCOB from 65) they are fully set up to really tackle that Tiger and kick its ass - and then hit a stable plane of being at cause - call it Clear or whatever you want.
Buddhists have been doing this for 4,000 years through the continual practice of meditation, right action, debate and mental training.
But if someone goes clear masturbating or watching Mary Poppins, or anything else that has no underlying structure to it at all it's is difficult to see what long range value this is going to have for them. (Although the underlying structure is exactly what they don't need
On a side note:
In the last several years the church has (once again) redefined (in their mind) what a "Clear" is and what "evidences" prove this. Per reports I have gotten from people still in the church on OT VII about 50% of them had to run more NED as they were weighed, measured and found lacking in their degree of transparency. An intensive or two of NED brought them up to the proper degree of Clearness.
For others not on OT VII it is a different story. The CCRD is essentially just not offered as a service anymore - despite the VERY CLEAR outline of it's use in their own tech. People who originate Clear who have received auditing, particularly those who originate last life time auditing, and merely told to do the Bridge from the bottom up.
If the church gives zero recognition to their own tech, and zero to those who received auditing in a past life, I think it unlikely they will consider much a person who states they attained the Clear Cog whilst trimming the verge, fishing, or anything less than "get out your checkbook your TE is 150 intensives" style of Clear Cog.
As for grades / Clearing being recommenced as a prerequisite to the study of Magick - I do recall Gareth Knight in "A practical Guide To Cabalistic Symbolism" (great book, get it on amazon
here or ISBN 1578632471) suggesting that Clear was somewhat analogous to a degree obtained in Magick, one that has handled the elemental grades and is ready to take on the higher, more advanced work. Knight actually mentions Scientology in the forward of that book saying something like "Some people have taken me to task regarding my fulsome remarks regarding Scientology. It may be I have been singularly fortunate." or similar - I don't have a copy handy for the exact quote. He mentions how he perceives Clear relating to esoteric grades a few other places in the book and recommends auditing for any student of the Qabalah.
Just don't tell the examiner you went clear studying the Tree of Life or contemplating the Sephiroth! Even if you are Natural Clear.
