Non Scientology Scams by Scientologists :confused2:
I was scammed out of a substantial amount of money, not a huge sum, but for me at the time a substantial amount. You see I was broke from trying to pay for services at the local org. The scam was not part of the machinations of C of S. But, this scam was perpetrated by a fellow member of "The Most Ethical People On The Planet".
My mindset. The world is our enemy. We as Scientologists must be prepared for survival when society falls apart. It is imperative that WE survive as civilized cultures come to an end.
And, taadaa, along came the answer. A friend / church member tells me that one of our fellow members of the Church of Scientology, Mission of Davis at Sacramento, is creating a "Survival Camp" in the foothills. Would I like to go up and check out the Land". We did a "road trip" to this very isolated, peaceful piece of land. It sure looked like a safe-haven to me. I was told it would have shelters and storage for foodstuffs and the necessary materials for survival.
We returned to town. That night at the mission I was introduced to the person who was putting this survival thing together. I was on a break from an academy class. She didn’t look like she was doing anything but being there to meet me. She was introduced to me as a fellow Scientologist. Good enough for me. She must be ethical, right.
She asked me if I wanted to be a member of this survival group. I said “sure, sign me up”. I was asked to contribute a specific amount of money. I explained I was, as most of my fellow “public” were, seriously broke. But I would find the money. I wanted in. A few days later I ponied up the full amount. I don’t even remember how I got it.
As you have probably already figured out, I never saw her or my money again. After a while this naive all-trusting person (me) finally decided that this woman was apparently using the trust that had been programmed into us towards our fellow Scientologists, as a means of financing her purchase of a large chunk of land. And I was so totally into the mind-set that said “don’t rock the boat”, that I never pursued the issue. I wanted to be a staff member, not a trouble maker. And my very good friend, who hooked me into this whole thing, didn’t have a clue where she was. But he was sure she was a fellow member of the Church of Scientology. I haven’t been in touch with him since.
Based on what I was able to discreetly learn, she was staff or public at another mission in the area (I won' t mention it in case I am wrong). But I never saw her sorry ass again.
But the purpose of my writing this has nothing to do with money. It has everything to do with the total trust we had for mission and org staff and public. She waltzed in, and as I read it, scammed a bunch of money over a period of weeks (I wasn’t the only fool), and waltzed out.
How’s them ethics.

My question is, is there a thread out there already dealing with scams by Scientologists where the scams were not related to Scientology, but involved fellow Scientologists. If so, this post belongs there.
If not, are there stories out there similar to mine ?
