Re: The Old Days 1973-Part 5-The $65,000 Reg Cycle
Wasn't his name Hector Gonzales? I was on his Comm Ev once. We are talking about the same guy, at any rate. Wild to hear he's still around. Is he still active in COS?
He knew he was painting a big picture in order to sell, Lakey. He knew it at the time and he knew he hurt some people very much - he even knew it at the time of his Comm Ev and that was way back in the early to mid 80s.
Hector was pretty mixed up back then, but in some ways he was more of a real person than many other Scns. He showed genuine emotion because he was a very emotional guy. I could see him starting to believe his own pretty pictures he painted for others, but deep down, he always knew better. He was just stuck in the trap like the rest of us, more so than most.
Hope he's out now and found his balance.
CCLA Registrar Hector Carmona used to assure his prospects that for every $1 of money one donated for Scientology services, $4 would come back to you as a result of your "donating to 'theta' instead of "MEST". I never accepted that and told Hector it was "pie in the sky" or wishful thinking. Hector really believed this to be true and would answer by looking you right in the eye and telling you that if you really examine the facts objectively, you would agree with his conclusion.
I talked to Hector 3 times by phone in early 2010 and met him once in person and I brought this up to him again. He said that he once believed it very strongly but as time went by, he came to change his mind. He stressed that if he had not believed it was true, he never would have used that phrase "close" people....Lakey
