SOS: Science of Stopping

One of the jokes about Scientology that you can't laugh at until you are out of the cult is that regularly recurring punchline about how the newest level or rundown "removes the final barrier to OT".

Wasn't DMSMH "clearing" supposed to remove the final barrier to OT? Wasn't the "Wall of Fire" the final barrier? I mean NOTS, I mean Solo NOTs, I mean....

And the 2nd half of that joke is that (latest-greatest thing) is the "first real OT Level" because it is the first "positive gain".

Oh yeah, everything up thru OT VII is "negative gain" but suddenly (for no apparent reason) on OT VIII you begin getting "positive gain". What freaking madness all of this is!

WTF is the difference between "negative gain" and "positive gain"? I know Hubbard's explanation, but think about it. Isn't it all predicated on the myth of the trillion-year-old OT that has stupidly lost their magical powers because (although all-powerful and all-knowing super-gods) they were uneducated as a thetan and so trapped themselves in their own postulates? My God, thinking about this stuff would make anyone mentally ill...which I guess is pretty good if you are trying to sell them the "modern science of mental health".

So, what does all this have to do with the Science of Stopping?

Simply this. All of Scientology is (in fact) intended for negative gain. There are no "first true OT levels". There are not any levels that give "positive" OT abilities to anyone. If that had ever happened even once, you would know that person's name and there would be hundreds of videos on YouTube with that OT showing what they could do.

So, it's all just "negative gain" or getting rid of bad things.

That is essentially what Scientology does. Try to stop bad things.

Holy hell, I haven't even mentioned why this thread was even started. LOL

It was about Scientology's feeble attempt to STOP information during the golden age of information.

In earlier times (maybe a half century ago) a mind-control cult might reasonably argue that they could stop whistle blowing by simply buying up all the copies of the local newspaper or magazine and thereby prevent people from reading damaging information.

Scientology actually did try to do that, even sending GO operatives into libraries or bookstores to steal evil books like Paulette Coopers "The Scandal of Scientology".

Imagine for a moment that you are the leader of an INFORMATION STOPPING CULT and you are smack dab in the middle of a world of newspapers, magazines, books, computers, laptops, tablets, telephones, cell phones, mobile devices, internet, cloud computing, social networks, email and instant worldwide discussion forums like ESMB.

There is no conceivable way to stop anything.

But that doesn't stop Scientology from trying!

Aren't they still trying to get Scientologists to destroy old copies of the books so they can rid the world of the evil of Ron's original books?

I was long gone from Scientology when the BASIC BOOKS were released. Did Scientology actually order people to destroy their own books? Really?

As a book-lover and collector, I cannot even imagine someone demanding that I destroy one of my books. The insanity of that is incalculable!

I don't mean to make fun of people who followed those orders (believing it to be "greatest good") but...

Did anyone here actually destroy ("stop") their own books?

And, does anyone know what happened to people who didn't follow such orders?

In order to really understand all of the insane human rights abuses in Scientology, one need only realize that all of that "tech" and "policy" exists for the simple purpose of stopping things that interfere with money coming into Scientology's leader.

That's why there are Declares.

And Non-Enturbulation Orders.

And Com Evs.

And Disconnection.

And Rollbacks.

And RPFs.

And....

Private Detectives going thru your trash.

OT VIII's at your front door wearing head-cams.

People stealing your personal stationery (containing your fingerprints) and writing bomb threats on it.

(for a fuller study in Scientology's STOP-SCRIPTURE, read all of Hubbard's Ethics, Justice and Fair Game policies)

Even the "AIMS OF SCIENTOLOGY" are to stop.

A world without insanity.

A world without war.

A world without criminality.

So, now we know what Scientology wants the world to be without.

Does anybody have any idea of what Scientology wants to be a world with?

I think I can guess. lolol

As he did so often, Hubbard tripped over himself describing the evil, criminal, reactive behavior of others, when he was really revealing himself.

Example: When a pc does not properly respond to the "tech" they are deemed a "Resistive Case" and run on a special action designed to "crack their case".

It is the Green Form 40 for Resistive Cases.

Scientology (by reason of no-case-gain for 60 years) is a classic "resistive case" and needs to be run on a GF-40.

One of the items on the GF-40 is: "Continuously committing present time overts?"

That perfectly describes Hubbard, Miscavich and Scientology from 1950 - 2012.

If it reads, one is to List & Null: "What are you trying to prevent?"

Trying to prevent is another way of saying "What are you trying to stop?"

Thus, Hubbard is explaining to us WHY he committed a 36-year crime wave of "overts"; because he was trying to stop ("prevent") certain things from happening to him.

Hubbard also details the personality traits of someone who is trying to "stop" in all of his bulletins and policies on the Suppressive Person or those in the 1.1 to 1.5 tone level range.

Virtually all of Scientology can be reduced down to stopping. Even the parts of Scientology that pretend to not be about stopping are, themselves, thought stoppers.

Thought-terminating cliché

"Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism popularized the term "thought-terminating cliché". A thought-terminating cliché is a commonly used phrase, sometimes passing as folk wisdom, used to quell cognitive dissonance. Though the phrase in and of itself may be valid in certain contexts, its application as a means of dismissing dissent or justifying fallacious logic is what makes it thought-terminating."

Lifton said:

"The language of the totalist environment is characterized by the thought-terminating cliché. The most far-reaching and complex of human problems are compressed into brief, highly reductive, definitive-sounding phrases, easily memorized and easily expressed. These become the start and finish of any ideological analysis.
In George Orwell’s novel Nineteen Eighty-Four, the fictional constructed language Newspeak is designed to reduce language entirely to a set of thought-terminating clichés. Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World society uses thought-terminating clichés in a more conventional manner, most notably in regard to the drug soma as well as modified versions of real-life platitudes, such as, “A doctor a day keeps the jim-jams away.” Hannah Arendt, in Eichmann in Jerusalem, describes Adolf Eichmann as an intelligent man using many of these thought-terminating clichés to justify his actions and the role he played in the Holocaust. For her, these phrases are symptomatic of an absence of thought."

*Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism: A Study of "Brainwashing" in China is a psychology non-fiction book on brainwashing and mind control by Robert Jay Lifton. The book was first published in 1961 by Norton in New York. The 1989 reprint edition was published by University of North Carolina Press. Lifton is a Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York.*

You hit the bullseye with this one HH. It is all about stopping. And it all starts with stopping thoughts until over time it becomes automatic. And after years and for some, decades, of this the thought stopping becomes part of you. Kudos to everyone reading this board who were able to START thinking and analyzing for themselves again.

So to answer the question....a world with....

billions of people who cannot think for themselves that have lots and lots and lots and lots of money. Ideal scene for any cult.

NEW SLANT ON STOPS...

When a Scientologist has successfully stopped enough of their life to do Scientology and successfully stopped enough of their mind to get onto OT VIII, they are ordered to stop what they are doing every 6 months and report to Flag. Then they will be Sec Checked to find out what other things they have been doing in their private life that need to be stopped. And they the viability of their finances and retirement funds will be stopped by registrars from the many branches of Scientology in order to Stop the Psychs or stop the things that making planetary clearing a reality. They will be released from Flag when they show they have stopped putting CI on Scientology and proven that by additional donations to the program that stops Scientology being delivered in buildings that are not Ideal Orgs. Then they can go back home and continue stopping BTs from ruining their life.

I sure hope you don't take my description as a negative to doing your upper OT levels. The wins are up there I promise. You really will love it on the level! You should just stop whatever you are doing and blow off your stops and stop Q & A'ing! If you have any doubts about it, you need this rundown in order to stop stopping yourself!
