It is actually, more like a rud to get his death details out in the open. Otherwie many others think the Co$ caused his death as an OSA Op. That instills fear in them. Fear to speak out. Better to allay the fears. Let the people talk without fear of being killed by OSA.
Soliloquy
Supposing an organisation, with members of differing ethical standards (as is any group) has as a basic purpose, perhaps unspoken, the freeing of people and works at that under different guises over 60 or more years. It is working to free people from traps of various types. Over the years, within that organisation, knowledge will be obtained. Some of it may not be widely known, but it is there. And in working to free people one must, unless one is unbelievably stupid, gain knowledge of how individuals can be trapped. Over 60 plus years a large amount of knowledge of how to trap people (and hold them trapped) would be obtained. Many ways, with different degrees of brutality, cruelness and covertness. Maybe it is not available to all, freely. But the despotic leader can get it out.
Now imagine that a really despotic person comes along, and gets into a position of control. It would be possible for that person to enforce out of every nook and cranny of that organisation very refined ways of holding members trapped within the organisation. Including subtle ways. One possibility would be to encourage negative tendencies existing in those outside of the organisation who might be critical of the organisation.
This train of thoughts originally arose when (with great glee) I was shown some videos which the “Church” has put on YouTube. They are short excerpts of LRH talks/lectures where he describes his experiences, sometimes as quite young. They are from lectures originally taped, and thus there was no video. They do not seem to contain much data on life. But the Church has (cunningly, in my view) added video material which illustrates the time period Ron is referring to, but also in my view: (a) painting a picture of Ron, the great leader and genius and (b) painting a picture of how dangerous the environment is, with the undertone of how badly we need to follow what the organisation lets its members know of Ron's “path”.
Of course the reason I spent time writing the above and putting it on this gargantuan thread at this time is to appeal to you not to concentrate on discussing the Pilot's demise and events leading up to it. That is playing into the Church's hands (quoting a song “Gloom and misery everywhere – stormy weather”). No, please concentrate on the positive (“Accentuate the positive” - also a song from my younger days).

PS. If you need more incentive to look at that link, note this. When I was thrown out of the “Church” in 1983, I firmly (and rather unconsciously) believed that the ends justified the means. So do those in that monster today (the underlings). If it was a question of supporting Scientology, which would save the world (the end) any thing was justifiable. That would include trapping countless people, as well as breaking societies laws and covertly killing off enemies who could not be "handled".
