Lol, check the pricing out for new copies of this painful waste of trees and ink~ 'from 65.00 new' (wtf, listing @ 800.00, yeh riiiiiight, maybe in a Idle Morgue...)
Talk about all over the place, I think I'll wait for a set to show up at a dime store, then laugh some more :p

There's a brand new set right now on Amazon for $65.00 +$3.99 (shipping).

I imagine that those sets being sold for $99.00 and less were donated sets (to libraries) that some people are trying to make a few bucks off of rather than throwing them into the dumpster.

Not all libraries that receive these donations will put them out on the shelves. Same as if they received donated books from N. Korea about how wonderful their leader is. Many go into the dumpster, but some people are apparently fishing them out of the dumpster and putting them for sale on Ebay or Amazon. Some other libraries will just outright sell books like this to raise money for the library. You can buy hardback books like this for one or two dollars a piece each typically.

Supposedly the cult has gotten this "Ron Series" sent to all U.S. Libraries. What a waste of perfectly good trees. :faceslap:

Type4, no! You didn't do our math game! :)

There are an estimated 121,785 libraries of all kinds in the United States today. No single annual survey provides statistics on all types of libraries. (source: ALA, the American Library Association)

It's a 16 volume edition, and they said they printed 250,000 books.

15,625 sets.

Good point, their math seems to be off quite a bit!

Also, notice that now they've got a target to get these books into "all" libraries. The problem though is that the cult claims to be in 160 countries, or something like that. So why not include all those countries and list them below?

They seem to be off by over 100 countries!

That is hilarious! Too bad they didn't give a number for the US, and they could just let on that it's a lie, but no matter. I loved that list of countries, because it looks like more libraries than scientologists in most places.

44,702 is the total from their list.

715,232 more books needed, besides the ones still needed for the US: 106,160.

Summary:

Needed sets for the US: 106,160

Needed sets for list of other locations: 44,702

150,862 sets of 16 books needed.

Wow, they need donations for 2,413,792 books.

If cost to buy the set is $399., they are looking for this sales project to gain $60,193,938 in donations.

To give each one a book set, would be nearly $18,000,000. $17,836,098 needed, if book sets are $399.

I'd love to know what Scientologists are being charged per set to donate these to libraries.

Amazon shows the list price at $800.00! And they're selling them for $584.00 each (27% discount)

The Amazon Bestseller Rank for this series: #5,825,821

Oh my goodness - excuse me! Amazon says ...

List Price is $800 USD. Thank you for fact-checking me!

Okay, so for the other countries, at $800/donation per set, would be $35,761,600 USD.

I humbly ask my friends on ESMB to forgive me for I have sinned. :melodramatic:

But it was back in December while I was doing Christmas shopping. :eyeroll:

I buy books occasionally from a used book supplier, Better World Books,
that deal in a lot of ex-library books and donated library rejects.

I saw that they had all the brand new L.Ron Hubbard Series books going
for $2.38 each, no tax and free shipping, during a pre-holiday sale in Dec.
At that price, curiosity got the best of me and I bought a few with my
regular book order.

They had about 20 of each volume in stock and they still have most of
'em in stock but for $3.50-4.00 now. Mine were all still shrink wrapped.

Here's the current search link: L Ron Hubbard Series

Fellow sinners . . . enjoy!

PS: My thanks to the original book donors. :coolwink:
