Rep. Mary Flowers, D-Chicago, says she just wanted to start a conversation about psychiatry.

“We’ve seen the headlines in the newspaper about doctors over-medicating adults, as well as children, because there’s money involved,” Flowers says.

But Rep. Ed Sullivan, R-Mundelein, told fellow lawmakers one of the groups supporting the effort is backed by the Church of Scientology.

“I bring this up because my family has some issues — has had some exposure — with the church of Scientology,” Sullivan says. “And without getting into details, it hasn’t been very good.”

The final vote was 22 yes — with the majority, 92, voting no.

Scientology is going to start directing a lot of attention to these professions as they have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar trying to milk the insurance companies via Narconon.

It might even be sinking in to their impenetrable skulls that people don't like or want scientology. I just saw an example today, in an interview with a comedienne:
Are you spiritual? Do you throw stones, buy crystals, understand scientology or call psychic hot lines?

Elvira: I am very spiritual when I need something, I prefer to skip stones, I buy crystallized sugar, I enjoy mocking Scientology to no end and what kind of '90s reference are you slinging here, buddy, with your 'psychic hot lines'? I get my future tweeted to me from @MadameISeeGulliblePeople... you can't beat an accuracy rate of 50 per cent, right?

Hopefully Dr. Tom Cruise will go on TV and grace us with his expertise in Psychiatry and all things Glib once again.

Unexpectedly, I'm on a roll!

Pallotta, who was raised Catholic, called meeting the Pope "one of the most emotional experiences in my life," Pallotta said, according to The New Age. We're sure it meant a lot to the Pope, too, considering the last NBA-connected visitor to Vatican City was a little ... off.

Pallotta's presentation came less than a week after the Dalai Lama donned a Pelicans hat during a visit to New Orleans to show appreciation for his hosts while on a speaking tour. Here's hoping this doesn't start NBA teams scampering to lock down the support of religious leaders. The competition to lock up the backing of Seventh Day Baptist General Conference General Secretary Jan Lek could prove to be quite fierce, and I don't even want to think about the engram-clearing free-for-all that would be associated with courting Church of Scientology President Heber Jentzsch.
