Just for fun... a Hubbard font!

I recently wanted a really kooky, Hunter S Thompson-esque font (since I'm a writer and booksetter in my spare time) and the text of OT3 (drug induced malarkey as it is) came to mind. I found a copy of it in Ron's handwriting, and since it had exactly that hurried, wacky sort of hand I wanted, I made a font based on it. Took me all of a day, although I have improved it a bit since then so you can read it at small sizes too and the letters are spaced right (in the technology of font design, this is called "kerning")

I might restimulate some people's reactive minds based on their time in the Cult of $, so be warned. If you like L Ron's distinctive hand, though, you can download it at http://openfontlibrary.org/en/font/ron-s-font for free, and maybe print out "Down with Cults" or something like that.

The hilarious thing is it didn't cross my mind until after I'd finished the font.

I wish I had the idea when I was writing my Study Tech book... could have used it for chapter headings or something. One of my doctors and a couple of my lawyers got the Study Tech book and actually liked it.

I've got a rather narrow definition of Scn---to me, Scn is basically auditing and OT. The admin stuff, the Study Tech stuff, the dynamics as a philosophical model, The Way to Happiness, that's just good, practical stuff that I wouldn't consider cultic.

I'm currently working on some software for Ancient Egyptian and Greek scholars... I've uploaded fonts for that as well.

It would be hard to use RonsFont to write up OT9/10 because Ron had a habit of switching between joined-up letters and printing. I've only made his printing into a font.

I was just kidding as it crossed my mind when I went to look at your font. Although I wouldn't put it past DM to commission a really good forger to write something up that could pass for LRH's writing. It's cool that you have a talent for creating something like that, I sure don't.

A Dianetic font would be nice too -- like the word "DIANETICS" on the cover of DMSMH.

Only trouble is, the crossbars of each letter (those that have them) form a diagonal line overall. Those letters on the left side have a low-down crossbar, and those on the right have a high-up crossbar. We would need several varieties of each letter, depending on where in the word it was used.

Having said that, the Hubbard font is fabulous. Thank you.

Can I see an example? The DMSMH e-book on my computer doesn't have a front cover, and the pictures of DMSMH I could find all have a generic font spelling out the word "DIANETICS".

Thank you for your appreciation. The Scn connection only came later to me---it's just a perfect Beat Generation/stream-of-consciousness script. I showed a specimen of the handwriting to a few people (a neutral article on oncology) and they got the same vibe.

So he had lot of knowledge and wisdom to give us for free and as a generous being!
He did work all days and night long for a lifetime -
invest millions of $ from hiw own money
to persue his researches for decades
and discovered new technologies to ensure the surviving of mankind!

Dianetic auditing is given in the Cult (let's not call it a church, since it isn't one) of Scn, but you can do it on its own---it's linked to Scn, but separable. You can read DMSMH and act on it, and that can be that, no e-meters, no OT thing, no whole track auditing required. Dianetic auditing got along just fine in the Fifties with no Scn nonsense (although some would call Dn itself nonsense, but I'm reserving judgement till I try it) and no Matheson e-meter.

I never said that, I said don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. There's possible gains in bits and pieces of Dn, and even in some of Scn. Study Tech helped me, hell they use a variant of it at Oxford and Cambridge (only they don't call it Study Tech, they call it "the supervision system").

Of course the whole thing about standard tech is bullshit. Same with space opera and Oatee and the introspection rundown and Narconon. But dianetic auditing might work for some. Might not work for some. What's true for you is true, unless it's the patently unscientific bullshit. LRH should have stuck to fiction, educational theory, management, and psychotherapy---he'd have become famous for the right reasons. Should not have tried to put them into practice, because he did it wrong and was overly paranoid.
