These 8 Xenuphobic Celebrities Boldly Spoke Out Against Scientology

By now, pretty much everyone knows that the Church of Scientology has become extremely popular among some of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. The phenomenal documentary Going Clear revealed how higher-ups in the church deliberately went after big name stars to increase Scientology's renown, not to mention its bank accounts. That's how Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and many more were brought into the fold.

Considering Scientology's surprisingly immense power over people, most entertainers avoid making any critical statements for fear of upsetting someone in the industry. But, these eight celebrities refused to stay quiet about Scientology's shady practices and had some strong words for Xenu's organization.

1. Leah Remini

Leah Remini has been all over the internet lately with news that her tell-all book, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, is hitting shelves next month. After over 30 years as an active Scientologist, Leah made the decision to leave and to shine a light on the church's restrictive and unsettling policies:

"When you leave, you can leave quietly,' Leah said. 'But If you make a stink in the public world, they call you a Suppressive Person, which means the church has put a stamp on you that says you are bad...No one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot talk to."

2. Jim Carrey

Despite the fact that his former girlfriend Cathriona White was a Scientologist before her untimely death, Jim Carrey has been openly critical of the church. In one interview, he jokes with the reporter about the effects of Scientology and appears ready to openly mock it:

"I actually got into Scientology for a while, and that's how I got this nice glazed look in my eyes...Have you ever read Dianetics?"

Your mentioning: "Considering Scientology's surprisingly immense power over people", I would have to say that this 'power' is really just among a very few, luckily. It seems their PR 'science' give the illusion of power over the people though - and a trick which does work for them at times. Fading quickly though.

It's their true, evil, behind the scenes crap, that freaks out people: and mostly those who've not been subjected to it.

But I do hold belief in the idea that their 'persuasive tech' is a general illusion and somehow this plays as a constant threat, yet just not as huge as one may imagine. Of course it may appear that way to those of us having been involved and partake in this rather tiny world of cult vs. the rest of us. I'd say their real-estate holdings tend to have bigger effects on those not in the know, yet is effective: especially with the built in idea - here in the US - that it is some status symbol. These buildings are all gonna get sold as things continue on their self-imposed destruction (and I look forward to partying down at Soopa-power bldg in Clearwater someday)

Illusions can and do fade, or just die flat out - and that's what IS happening thanks to those exposing the truth.

Lets just not give them the credit, of all their ''power over everyone" It's all just an illusion: something the buggers think will work. And they're so good at that - eh?

Wrong thinking, but now they have mastered that! Mastered their demise I mean!

Luckily, their real-estate isn't panning out for them to hold that position for much longer
