How did it feel to run around the org like an idiot and get signatures to get you back into the group?:duh:

Just before I got out of the CofS a single mum I knew on OT VII I knew went to flag for her refresher. She had some small out security, I don't know what, so, to get through her liability she bought 10 sets of the basics to donate!!

It cost her around $40,000 US. I warned a friend of mine as his wife was on a refresher and he told me, "too late, we did 2 sets $8,000"

At that time the MAAs like every one else had quotas of basics to sell after post before they could go home. Mysteriously the purchase of basics became almost mandatory amends.

My wife was on the EP line up for VII a short time after that, she said basics were on every liability formula she saw bar one, about a dozen of them!.:omg:

Trust the Psi Corps.
In a crummy org where no one could afford more than one decent meal a week, the HAS sent a staff member out to buy a vacuum cleaner for the HCO. He made a comment to me, that the next out-ethics staff member could buy an LRH bust :omg:

It used to be that paying money was not an acceptable amends, as far as I recall.

Yes, this is true. It also used to be true that donations could not be used on your list of "good works". Now it is required. You must be a Patron to get your invitation to OT7. (so I've heard)

The last time I did lowers, I was getting signatures on my liability formula. I had a list of stuff I did to make up the damage. One of the old timers I asked to sign looked over my formula and then asked "Did you clean the carpets yourself, or did you pay to have them cleaned?" When I told him I cleaned them myself he grinned from ear to ear and said "Welcome back!"

I got the feeling he was sick of seeing folks buy their way out of lowers.

The junior guy takes the rap.

Early 70's I was in Treasury at CCLA. Bob Miles of the Optimum Press came in to tell me that in 3 weeks printed invoice packs would no longer be available. He tried to get me to place a new order. I had no authority to do so, but ccould only write a purchase order and submit it to FP. For 3 weeks, the FP committee turned down my P.O. marked URGENT. One afternoon, Miles showed up and said I had to order then and now or the Org would not be able to buy more forms.

A new Guardians Office rep, Hillary, had just started 3 days earlier, and she had to approve all P.O.'s. I tried to call her and was blown off. I decided to break the HCOPL, "Purchasing liability of a staff member" using the maxim, "What Would Ron do?." I ordered 5000 invoices for around $275 (1970'S Money). At an exec meeting the next day, I was filling in for the Treas Sec who was on leave, I told the top Org execs what I did. Yvonne and Irene, the first and second in command said I was a hero and applauded me. Yvonne ordered a rush Purchas Order for $275 be put through immediately.

The new Guardian's Office rep heard about the incident and called me in to see her. She said that what I did was an extremely serious crime in bypassing her and that the top execs were wrong to support me. She admitted all my stats were very high but said I was still going to be assigned Doubt. I offered to do Danger and she refused that but assigned me Liablity which is higher than Doubt.

My ammends was that I had to stay up all night for one full week, from about midnight to 8:00 AM and handle the telephone switch board and still do the duties of my post and be on study. I did this for three nights but I started falling asleep on study and made mistakes and was drowsy on post. I had to make runs to the bank on my bicycle carrying checks and converting it to cash for the payroll and I was expected to continue doing this. Yvonne called me in and told me to quit doing the switchboard and that she would handle Hillary. Hillary did not go down easily and claimed she outranked Yvonne but Yvonne prevailed.

I know of a 70 year old woman/auditor that was made to sweep and clean the car-park for weeks on end (10 hours a day from memory) for some outrageous 'crime' against humanity (you know, like flunking a session).

She was very sick and no-one would speak to her (standard stuff so far then) and she was thousands of miles from her home and the weather was very bad (car park was not under cover).

She is still in and probably always will be.

Uck, you had to remind me of those times? Yick.

I remember one strange thing. (well maybe it wasn't, idk). And it isn't an Amends story...but as a
Div 6 Dir of Pub Reg, I wasn't pulling in enough income for the Org from my Division, so I was literally removed from my Post and made 'expeditor' and not allowed to be around any other Staff for a couple weeks. I had done no particular thing, nor presented low tone levels to warrant the removal. But I just did Promo and stuff and was not allowed on any financial lines whatsoever (not even to sell books). When I walked down the halls, staff turned their heads and sorta talked down at me if they had to talk to me.

I was put back on as if nothing happened within a couple weeks, but it was weird! :confused2: PES and ED were trying to find the 'WHY' ...guess I wasn't it, cuz stats went worse when they removed me.

Amends: I can't remember any stories about them.....if I can think of any, I'll post some..

 I DO remember that one of the 'reasons' I was removed was that 'your case is preventing you from bringing in enough Income and you may be a detriment to the Lines so we're removing you for a few weeks'. :whatever:

Let's not forget that I had deep background inner CI cuz I never wanted to be jerked out of Div 6A to Div 6B anyway....that was besides the point but....:eyeroll: :p

1) my ex-wife worked for the "commodore" on the ship. after daily cleaning stations, she missed a piece of dust on an upper ledge over hubbard's cabin entrance. she was promptly thrown into the chain locker.

2) I hadn't turned the combination lock on my OTIII briefcase and took one step out out of the confidential area. I stepped back to flip one of the combination numbers but also "turned myself in" and was promptly sent to ethics. I spent the next couple days cleaning HCO and getting signatures.

crazy amends cuz it was a total waste of time for nothing.

it only required 3 seconds to clean the dust or set the lock.... instead of sentencing slaves to days of crazy, degraded punishment.

crazier still was that we all meekly followed the insane emperor's crazy rules

craziest of all, was that hubbard actually thought he could get millions of people thru OT III without the secrets of the universe being leaked.

and he actually believed the security of his Xenu story across the face of earth was guaranteed by people using cheap briefcases that a child could open with a play screwdriver. talk about delusional!

i need to do an amends for ever letting myself do any amends.

nah, i think i'll declare an amnesty today and ride my harley instead.

Riverside Mission had a pool.
I think it was a former prep school or something.
It was suggested that amends for one staff would be to clean the dry pool with a toothbrush.

I did a few hours digging out the Deputy ED's new pool in his back yard of his newly built house (also amends people) while at Riverside also.
It seemed odd that I was personally improving a single person's life and that would count as a blow against the enemy.

Oh, but it's just all DMs fault right? :eyeroll:

We always had somebody in lowers. It got to the point of ridiculousness. If your WDAHs were down, you immediately grabbed the mop and cleaning supplies and headed to the bathroom, because you knew your senior would be yelling at you to do exactly that anyway. Weeding, bathrooms--always big on the amends charts. Staff who were part-time and "bought" stuff to get out of liability were looked down on. Auditors took care of each other, and those with rich mommies and daddies often bought reams of paper for the rest of the auditors as part of their amends, and it was greatly appreciated. We often cleaned each others' cans.

What was really crazier was the "blow to the enemy"step. Certain segments insisted that there HAD to be danger in the step (the despite any other danger part implied to them that there HAD to be danger), and then aqt one point, it became standard to expect folks to handle another staff member who had done something similar to whatever you did to wind up in lowers as part of this step. So, you had this giant crazy army of ethics police consisting of staff members out harassing other staff in order to get through their lowers. It got completely insane. Some of us on the internship just started agreements "I'll handle you--you handle me shhhhhh!" because we didn't want to be one of the insane ones breaking into houses and screaming at people. Had a Senior C/S who thought all f/ns were supposed to look exactly like the film, so there were always a couple of us working out of lowers--and we were responsible for the paid WDAHs and there was a lack of pcs which also equaled MEST work. Yep. Good times.

Dear Clamorous,

All that you describe is perfectly normal. Where's the problem? I don't see any outpoints in Scn.

It's just confusion blowing off as we put order into the MEST universe.

The way out is the way......

Wait, I was just thinking, maybe we were all being driven totally insane by a totally insane cult?

Yeah, so.....just forgot what I said about that confusion blowing off thingie.

I know this isn't true. I know 2 people who are on OT7 and neither one is a Patron.
We really need to keep this honest or we lose our integrity

I married my 2nd husband as an amends for dramatizing my case on him. For real. The marriage lasted just over 9 years.

I've heard of more than one person having to do more than 400 hours of amends plus more on their liability formula as part of their Freeloader deal.

I know one person who got offloaded from the Sea Org, had 1500 hours of amends to do + the hefty freeloader as a result of his Comm Ev.
