What ever happened to Barry Klein?

The last time I spoke to him he was still bragging about how he "never has to work again" because of his amazing OT investments with Reid Slatkin. LOL

Barry had all the requisite characteristics of a successful FSM.

Bossy
Arrogant
Knowing amazing things that nobody can know without him.
LOL (If Magoo is here she can tell that great story about how Barry was able to "audit" people at a distance using secret tech)

And he had the most important quality of all: TOTAL CERTAINTY WITH NO KNOWLEDGE.

He latched himself onto me and became my FSM for my third and final round of going clear at Flag.

He made a cool 20k off me!

Never realized he had been a Reid investor, but he does show up on List, http://www.slatkinfraud.com/inv_2001_4a.htm

Reading that list is a hell of a lulz-fest!

Aaaaahhhh ... BARRY KLEIN!

I was such a disappointment to him. Always hanging with his "selectees," but never his (or anyone else's) selectee.

I heard a rumor that Barry Klein is long gone. Anybody know where that arrogant P.O.S. is these days?

I hated Barry Klein. He was such an arrogant shithead. I remember hearing that Guillame Lesevre, when he was actually on the ground as ED Int, told him he was "the best reg in Scientology". Like that head of his needed to be swelled any bigger than it already was.

I interviewed him once for an FSM Newsletter. He told me he decided to be a Pro FSM rather than a gynecologist in Beverly Hills. Don't remember exactly what he said, but the inference was there was more money in it.

What a douchebag.

No, not mine. I just saw his email on Rinder's and it got me thinking. And furious.

i am one foot out and one foot in the door - family ties - and my best stories would reveal my identity. I'll try to figure out what I can say without harming the people I love.

No pressure, CandO.

Your family is important. Do only what you want that does not put you or them in harm's way.

Give yourself some time to catch up on the real history of Scientology, LRH's real history, etc.

Read and learn.

Relax and Decompress.

And give yourself some slack.

We've all been through it.

On the subject of FSMs, does anyone know who, if anyone at all, got FSMs on Tom Cruise and Sonny Bono and Kirstie Alley?

the question is not "Who should have?"

Who, if, anyone, did?

Don't know about Cruise and Kirsty Allie. Though I know that Wouter Korringa was in Cruise's entourage at one time; kind of got the idea he might be his FSM.

Sonny Bono? I remember being told in the 80s about a field auditor who was basically living with Sonny and Mary and auditing them. It's making me nuts because I can't remember his name now. He was a big time Class VIII field auditor / FSM at the time.

Wonder what the latest is with Wouter - a weird name you wouldn't forget. But I remember hearing he was close to Tom Cruise but then fell out of his inner circle awhile back. And he was "friends with a friend" - so his name came up a bunch. Would be great to get his story!

I do know that Micheal Wisner was one of TC's original FSMs when he was with Mimi. And Melanie Murray was one of his first "Tech terminals" at the Sherman Oaks Mission.

He told me about going on an Amazon River expedition with him and using "Ecology" as a button to position Scientology as all about survival on the 5th dynamic to get him interested.

This all could be a lie, of course, because Micheal was working hard to become my "opinion leader" at the time as I had just arrived in LA to work at his wife's software company.

He even showed me pics of the Amazon Expedition with he and Cruise in a canoe together with deep vegetation in the background!

I, of course, ate that all up because no one knew Cruise was a scilon at the time.

This was when my then wife worked at HealthMed and all kinds of Scieno celeb gossip was the complete rage.

Yeah people, I'm that cool.

what's a "Tech terminal"? Is that a euphemism for auditor?

how did Greg Wilhere get his meat hooks into Tom?

Who sold Mimi out for the greatest good?

The whole "St Hill Size" program annoyed me from the beginning, because nobody seemed to ever DEFINE what "St Hill Size" MEANT in hard numbers. "OK, how many auditors, how many students, how much GI would qualify an org as St Hill Size?". Never really got a good answer.

I thought it was 250 staff, but this is virtual-typing-tek and I refuse to look anything up, so could be wrong. But I think that's correct.

Mimi was a born-in, daughter of Phil Spickler.

A good friend of hers, Melanie Murray, was also born-in, too, daughter of George Seidler.

Mimi and Melanie were both on the Class 8 course together.

And so when Mimi was dating Tom, as a Class 8 auditor, it was essential to get him onlines and winning as a Scientologist. This is the greatest good for the greatest number of dynamics. This would have happened, I believe, after Tom's movie "All the Right Moves" occurred and before "Top Gun".

Pro FSMs.

A subject near and dear to my heart.

I was Sea Org service org staff from the early 80s until the mid 90s. I worked on the Dissem lines and worked closely with both Div 2 and Div 6 staff. I knew all the FSMs mentioned in this thread personally; some of them very well. Ironically, out of all the Pro FSMs, Ty Dillard was probably my favorite. He was a really nice guy, and very grounded if you actually sat down and talked to him. It actually really surprises me, knowing him as I did, that he's still in. He has the brains to know better.

Anyway...

From what I know, the original purpose of FSMs was to get public into Scientology. They would disseminate to them, then route them to a mission or a lower org or a field auditor or whatever. In return, they would get a percentage of what the person paid for services.

This system depended on there actually being a ground level structure. Active field auditors, missions, field groups, Class V orgs delivering service.

Well, as we know, the ground level structure was ripped apart. Missions were decimated, field auditors eliminated, Class V orgs became barely functional.

It became quite obvious that it was a lot more lucrative to hitch yourself to a person who was already a Scientologist and "become his FSM" than it was to get new people in.

First of all, the more fucked up COS got, the harder it was to get people in. It was a lot of freakin' work that may or may not pan out. Second of all, the guys going to the AOs and Flag were going to be actually spending some money. And they were already on board with the game so there wasn't that major hurdle to deal with.

So this entity: the "Professional FSM" came out of this.

These were guys who were generally OT and had some training (some a LOT of training). Though the FSM I/C is technically a Div 6 post, the FSMs pretty much worked with the Div 2 regges. There was this weird symbiosis between the Sea Org regges and these people. They would sit in the reg office for hours every day and plot and plan who they could get money out of.

I don't know whether it's still going on, but in the '80s, during the "roll over" period (this had to do with public borrowing money off of other people's credit cards) the FSMs would work out who could borrow off of whose credit cards. Often Public A borrowed money/credit card credit from Public B, and they didn't even know each other. The FSM brokered the deal and picked up the commission.

Pro FSMs, like field auditors, mission holders and those outside the Sea Org box, had a volatile relationship with Scientology management. I saw missions come in to the org to "put ethics in" on the FSMs. They would scurry away like roaches when these people in Class As ordered them in for sec checks. The GI would crash. Another mission would come in to "get the FSMs productive". They would be lured in; their asses would get kissed; it was all good again. Back and forth.

The bottom line: these guys represent the cannibalization of existing Scientology public because there are no new Scientology public.

And this was the 80s.

You can only imagine how much worse it is now.

Lulu you hit the nail on the head on this one.

All the feeder lines were removed, FSMs would route people in, to groups, missions and Orgs and they would continue to FSM them up the bridge and all that was stopped by command intention.

People began to fight over being someone's FSM because they'd talked to someone about doing their next level, and 'FSMs' started to live in reges offices, had access to CF and were used as tags in reg cycles. They were found in div2 reg, IAS and Flag reg offices, they had nice cars and no overheads. They were like staff but without contracts and they had good money, many of them were on OT7. I'm sure they probably didn't pay tax or national health insurance, they paid everything into their flag account or for their trips to the ship. They helped milk the cash cows. Meanwhile Div6 was dead, no raw meat coming in.

Silly cult shoots itself in the foot, yet again.

Hi Cognited,

Even though I'm pretty new here myself, I wanted to welcome you. I am a "Never In" and so are some others here. I am still learning the $cientologyspeak, so I am kind of wondering what "having one foot in and the other out" means.

Is this the same as "flying under the radar"? Which I have taken to mean that someone no longer believes the bullshyte and is not about to purchase more courses or donate more money but they are not making any public statements to ANYONE about this.

If one is a public scientologist, how long can one get by without taking a class, attending an event, donating any money? Do the powers that be eventually figure it out? Then what happens?

Oh, and I'll take anybody's answers on this. Thanks.

Welcome, Cognited and Out.

So glad you are here with all of Us.

I see that Enthetan has already directed you to a PL re: FSM's. This PL was intended to increase the control over Field Auditors in the Mid '60's as well over half the Auditing, Training and Intro Courses going on then was in Private Field Practices. The idea was to extend the "reach" of Scn Management into those Private Practices and financially "reward" (induce) the Field Auditors to send their people to Orgs for the new line up of services that were "Org Only" called "The Bridge", especially to St. Hill where El Ron was doing the BC and coming out with "Upper Level" stuff that could only be done there. It was a "carrot and stick" program.

By the late '60's there were already folks that found it more lucrative and--due to the steadily lengthening arm of the SO and its "Ethics"--safer to just Reg and select people for services...both "raw" public and off-lines, unselected Scn's...rather than run a practice Auditing and Training Newbie's.

As with all things Scn, the Scheme Machine that exists now had its Genus in the Old Days and was operated on, injected with steroids and F'd with to grow it into the Draculastein it is today.

So, show me a mother fuk'in clear.

I wonder how Wendy and Joanne are doing these days. They borrowed a bunch of money to become patron meritorious. About that time, CofS got greedy, and said no commissions on refreshers, since the FSM was collecting a check for something the person HAD to do anyway. That killed their income big time. "reasonably" their sweet loving church would allow them comish's on any additional services while getting a refresher.

But those weren't the real sharks.

The IAS NSO reges, Howard Becker, Michael Roberts oh my god - most people would give them money just to get rid of them. They were on a whole 'nother level.
