I haven't been posting anything because not too much is going on. Several old time FND guys attested to Clear. The big push at the moment is to finish the downstairs Div 6 space. This is after just finishing the purif space build out so they can deliver in Quincy rather than the Baritz's house. Poor attendance at events thus far this year. Call in has started for the Maiden Voyage events one of which will be about CST! I can take photos of both Quincy and 448 Beacon. Both are depressing. Not much change on staff, you can PM me if you want specific information. Very little new public and no Div 6 course room. They are really flogging the Craig's List ads but are getting flagged regularly by the Red X guys over at Tony Ortega's Bunker blog. Ask me some more questions!

Just to clarify, my understanding of "C Note" is a $100 bill. Is Heather really asking staff to donate money to finish the Div 6 area?!?! So forget getting paid pennies, but having to pay for the privilege of being on staff? And that they haven't finished their Div 6 space after almost a year? Oh my, no wonder there's no news from Boston.

Couldn't find anything new on the plans to put the decrepit Idle Org building back on the market other than the following:

That event is for public.We have them weekly. Come on Klix, we built out the film room and the whole purif delivery space already. I suspect that we will buy a new ideal org building long before we ever sell the white elephant. Oddly Boston has almost run out of Ideal scam to donate to at the moment.

Not that I have ever heard of. Why bother? I was going to make some kind of wise-crack along the lines of all of the Scios protest the Org in Quincy but I get no sense of that from the people in the building. Everyone there seems to be drinking the kool aid as hard as possible and they seem to see no outpoints in the whole moving fiasco or the long Ideal con which has really been going on here since the mid 90's.

I love these questions!

I find myself lamenting the wasted opportunities to be part of a high energy group dedicated to making the world a better place.

Thousands of people not only walked in to the Boston org but purchased services and had wins. It was great fun. But...

LRH admin "tech", correctly applied, chased most of them out.

LRH PR "tech" is keeping anyone who has access to the media far away.

LRH ethics "tech" has given incorrect item phenomena to just about anyone who has sat in front of an EO or MAA.

Think of all the friendships blown away by church policies. Is it even possible to have a long term friend in Scientology?

Think of the hope that's been destroyed over and over.

Scientology really was so cool for a while.

It's surreal for me to consider a once thriving organization that was so full of people eager to dedicate their lives to a cause but now reduced to a handful of lifers asking for $200 handouts from the overregged few.

Hip hip.
 
Hotel Alexandra in news again

Found the following news further down on Tony Ortega's blog this morning.

There's a link to a Boston Globe article about their reluctance to sell the building before they find a new Idle Org location.

Best line from the article about traffic flow into the Quincy office:
"The group is now leasing temporary office space in Quincy Center, which Hall says draws about 200 Scientologists each week."
I can imagine that may be so if counting staff each day as they enter and leave.

The Boston branch of the Church of Scientology is sitting on a potential gem near the South End-Roxbury line, a historic building that has sparked interest from dozens of potential buyers who want to turn it into the next boutique hotel or luxury condominium complex.

But the Scientologists say they’re in a bind: They want to sell but can’t find an affordable place in Boston to relocate their local headquarters.

The religious group, founded in the 1950s by L. Ron Hubbard, said in December that it would put the dilapidated Hotel Alexandra on the market. But it says it must wait until a new permanent headquarters is found in Boston with at least 50,000 square feet of space — a mandate handed down from the International Church of Scientology.

With prices high and inventory low, that is proving difficult.

Wow, what a colossal screw up. 448 Beacon Street was a gorgeous building, in overall pretty good shape, in a half decent location. The idea that they sold it because they needed more space is ridiculous. Now, they have a crappy, rented space in a quiet suburb miles from anything. And a dilapidated, crumbling wreck that they can't afford to fix and aren't allowed to sell.

Christ, I got screamed at that I was sabotaging Scientology every time my stats are a bit down. And someone is getting away with this without being declared? I assume Graham and Heather are still running things there? How can you preside over such a downfall and still hang on? Whoever is still there has some damn good persistence.

If things are as slow as they seem to be in Quincy, I can't imagine there's much income. We had way more staff and public and activity back in the 80's and 90's and even then it was a constant struggle to pay all the bills. What happens when the don't pay the rent and get evicted? I predict the org is being run out of some rich public's house within a year or two.

I was gifted a ticket to see Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock in concert at Symphony Hall.
Really wonderful performance. I suppose you could say Chick was in comm with his audience.
Yet the same could also be said about Herbie.

Witnessed the original coupling in 1978, also at Boston's Symphony Hall. It was cool. Chick's brilliance was much brighter pre-Scientology. After he got bitten he more and more became a drone for Ron. I used to think that those that he played with were enhanced by his "big beingness". I was wrong. Corea (also like Tom Cruise) chooses the best artists to work with. They enhanced him. I wonder how he feels now knowing Gary Burton is homosexual. All those great sessions he had was with a Gay guy. LMAO. Also here those great sessions were due to Gary, not Chick. Gary inspired Chick.

Interesting to hear your impression of Corea pre-Scn since I never heard of him until 'post'. My comment, other than really enjoying the concert, was an attempt at dry humor.

Huh, never heard that Burton came out. For most people I think the response would be "so what". His work with Corea was great as well as his other work. Crystal Silence has always been a favorite especially for romantic evenings. I'm on the fence whether Burton or Hancock made Corea better. IMHO and my experience as a musician, in any duo or combo, the synergy of musician really clicking together makes everyone better.

Totally agree with your last statement ("the synergy of musicians really clicking together makes everyone better."). I just can't stand Chick Corea any more. He's sucked so many people into Scientology over the years. Makes me sick, or I should say made me sick.

As for Gary Burton, yeah he came out a year or so ago. There are very few openly gay men in Jazz. Unfortunately there is a lot of homophobia in the Jazz world.

Check out, "Tones for Joan's bones". Pre-Scientology Corea. Brilliant. 1966.

Read the Globe article. Kevin Hall is their spokesman? Lord. I don't know what his problem is, but I bet it is hard to pronounce. :duh:
 
Tony Ortega gave a really good presentation at the Hong Kong restaurant in Cambridge last night. Decent crowd but didn't seem like there were that many exes there. I had a great chat with a couple of them as the evening wound down.

Would also like to put in a plug for Tony's book "The Unbreakable Miss Lovely". I'm part way through and it's a good read. You can buy it on Amazon.
