The deliciously ironic part of CoS selling a book called "WHAT IS SCIENTOLOGY?" is this....

They actually do not know what it is.

So, in a way they did not intend it, the question is actually appropriate.

But, as in all things Scientillogical, things are completely reversed.

(ps: if they want to pay somebody else $100, there are many people here on ESMB that would be able to help them clear what Scientology is. ) :D

What I find especially funny about this is that the original "What is Scientology" ("WIS")was written for the sole purpose of falsely trumping up the religious cloaking in response to the FBI raids that occured in 1977.

WIS was first published in 1978, mostly contributed to by GO staff. See this link with the acknowledgements for the very first WIS:

How do I know? I was one of the people who put it together when I was on GOWW staff back then.

Complete, self-serving nonsense trying to hide the bad and showcase what we wanted people to see, much of it completely made up.

Newer editions of WIS continued to push the cloaking.

What a joke that they can put out such nonsense AND sell it for so much.

Gawd I can't wait until so much of this type of information comes out in the courts over the next year or so.

Answer: For the same reason that Scientology is allowed to even use the term Bridge To Total Freedom.
