Did you grow up in the Church of Scientology and end up leaving the church? Are you currently apart of the church and interested in leaving? If so, please send us your story and a photo of yourself to [email protected] We’re currently casting a television show in this space.
Hello, everyone --

I work for a TV production company (Pink Sneakers Productions), we are 100% legitimately casting for a reality show and we are seeking talent who would be willing to share their story either leaving the CoS or the struggle in making the decision to leave or not (for those who may have not yet left.) Please send all requested info to the address listed; we're looking forward to hearing from you all. (You can check out PinkSneakers.net if you're not convinced of the legitimacy--this is not a trap!)
We're seeking to help by exposing truths and the stories behind those who have left Scientology, or are considering leaving. We have several networks interested in the concept, so if interested in being selected or cast, please send your info. If not, we wish you the best!

Scientology is a dysfunctional freak show just screaming for a reality show

It's about time someone cashed in on it's true value.

It's a legitimate film company that's been around for at least a couple of years according to their listing on this FL state sanctioned organization website promoting fimling in FL

Below is a list of projects participating in Florida’s Entertainment Industry Financial Incentive program. This page will be updated with new project information as it becomes available. This is not a complete listing of production activity in Florida, only of projects receiving the financial incentive that have announced their productions or have opened production offices in the state. Your local film commission is the best source for information on other productions that may be taking place in your local community. She has quite a footprint on the internet and seems to be legitimate to me.

The doco does sound fairly naive and poorly researched. No one contemplating leaving would go on a show like this. They'd be disconnected. I can't see how this show will ever get made.

Pretty fucking naive (and exploitive) production company.

It's a incredibly hard decision to leave, I can't imagine a person inviting a film crew along for it but really can't imagine the cult wouldn't throw a litigious shit fit of epic proportions before allowing one iota of footage to see the light of day.

Of course reality TV is all bullshit anyway so they might just dig up a struggling actor who took a few courses at the CC trying to network for gigs and turn that into his "epic struggle" to leave.

Scientology does deserve a reality show but the only viable, honest way to do one would be to focus on exes fighting the cult and family members struggling to reach family members ordered to disconnect. Any one truly involved with the cult would never agree to be on a reality show b/c the cult would never allow them to be involved (unless the cult was allowed to script and manage every moment of filming).

Agreed. Reality TV is not serious and has nothing to do with reality. What the press has been doing already is real enough.

I suspect this will be done fake and very badly. I suspect Scientologists will watch this and laugh at the language being all wrong.

To be fair, they are also asking for people who have already left the Church of Scientology. From the OP:

This company is either clueless or callous. Maybe both. Either way, exes should stay the fuck away. Think of all the shit high profile exes go through decompressing in public. Then ramp that up an order of magnitude as the producers manufacture drama to make interesting TV. Even for long time exes, can you imagine some amoral shithead getting ahold of our tech versus anti-tech discussions on this board and twisting what is already a precarious truce?

This is a recipe for a hot mess absolutely no Ex needs in their life.

There are similar shows about the FLDS were they follow kids who have escaped (what their life is like now that they are out) and who are trying to breakout their family members still in.

Here is the write up from before they aired http://m.deadline.com/2013/09/tlc-to-debut-two-series-about-people-trying-to-leave-flds-church/

Discovery Communications’ TLC today announced it had ordered two new projects that take viewers into “the hidden world of the FLDS church.” One is about about insiders trying to leave the church; the second follows an outsider who helps people break away. A sneak peek at the first, called Breaking the Faith, will air within the season finale of TLC’s Breaking Amish: LA, AMISH: LA this Sunday, September 29.

There are a couple shows about the Amish so it is likely they are trying to do a show about $cn. There have been at least 3 Amish and 2 FLDS shows although I don't know if more than one of them were picked up for a season 2, Breaking Amish had 2 Seasons.

I've watched these shows.. Very sad situations! These folks had no education in their cults and it is difficult to see how impoverished their circumstances are. They are poor, alone and with little prospects not to mention their arrested development and lack of understanding of the poor choices they are making bc they don't know any better. Just awful :bigcry:

are they exploited on these shows? Maybe, but it gives them some money and I think they would make the same decisions with or without the cameras. When you suddenly have freedom it must be very overwhelming..they tend to get drunk and party and work construction.

Some exes must cringe at the internet footprint they have left (Marty's Ode to LRH anyone?). Imagine this on TV :nervous:

I completely agree.. Not a good idea to be filmed like this.. These shows are very low budget and honestly I don't know if cult members would be dramatic enough for them in the way they want the drama. They want physical fights, drinking binges, cutting hair/changing dress, first time sex encounters and dramatic breakouts.. My take on the $cn culture is a little too highbrow and far more educated, study tech or not.. FLDS & Amish kids cease education around age 13 I think, maybe even younger? All home schooled too.

If it was more a docuseries that would be something, maybe...but these folks do My Redneck Wedding? This isn't BBC 7up quality at all... More staged as it is and since $cn is rather reserved anyway it's going to be bad news. I bet if they do cast it it will be folks like mentioned earlier who attended for a short time and just want to be actors.

I hope I'm wrong if they do make a show..I hope it is good.

LoL.....Just to play devil's advocate, I could imagine reality tv filming an ex's return to see an old friend, or to pick up some personal possessions and the confrontation of c of s security... ect. "fur flying"!! Get the popcorn.
