His rambling tapes contain a large amount of irrelevant information. Once you know the subject well, and can evaluate importances and unimportances fairly well, that's not too much of a problem, as you can just gloss over the waffle. But when you don't know that, you can waste hours and hours getting into the workings of pipe organs, for example, that will teach you diddly squat about how to study.
