And maybe the PT member should ask themselves that? And maybe the PT member should ask themselves if scientology is going to clear the planet, and in doing so, why are the old members posting on a message board saying "don't do it"? I thought the tech was self-correcting?

And maybe a member in the church, should ask themselves, how are you or how is the church going to "clear the planet" when even the old members are not involved anymore? That question just does not make sense. :confused2:

Gib what you have to understand is that the circa 1970 crowd at FCDC was a big party. We all had fun while we were starving, and also many did not take it as seriously as today's scienoweenies. And most importantly we were FRIENDS. Now, 42 years later we are in our 60s to late 70s and made our peace with what we have done. Politically maybe we still have disagreements, but that part of our youth is still a fond memory in some ways.

Unfortunately, few of us still post...this place got boring after a series of bans or self imposed absences. Nozzie, the originator of this thread is one really really funny guy, but he was banned. End of fun.

Don't make too much of us old fardts posting about the old days though. We have no illusions. And it is long since the "day the music died."

And no question, if you research it you will find 99% of the oldies have nothing to do whatsoever with the cult. NONE of the original people are around even if they are still living. It is a sham, and we all know it. The most important decision I have ever made in my life was walking out that door never to return. My entire prosperity has depended on that one action.

That's very kind of you! Some time after the last time I saw Joan, she could no longer afford where she was living and she had plans to set up living in a storage area - not sure how one does that. How sad.

I find it very sad that any time misfortune or a tragedy strikes a member, it was "their fault." I never quite got the logic of that. Let me see - a plane goes down and that means everyone on board was PTS? I think it is this very attitude that causes Scientologists to not help other members.

Joan looked very Irish - very curly, medium length dark hair, very white skin, blue eyes - think she had a bit of freckles? I have a couple of photos at my other home, but it could be months before I get back there and can scan it. I'll try to remember.

Heh, she was super cute. She is the reason I got in - sold me a book while I was sitting in a parking lot near the U of MD... I heard she went to Seattle. I told her I'd buy the book if she put her phone # in it. LOL, she put the number of the org. :omg:

Ah, The Golden Troubador... Mystic, mystic. I really did enjoy that story.

I haven't seen John Higginbotham's name mentioned. He was an old moldie staff member from the 60's (before my time). Met him at Tom Hume's house in Glen Echo mid-70's.

(sheesh, I truly was a nobody it seems, I'm not on that looong list of names. So many familars names on that list, wow, faded memories...)

Oh no question about that. I could see right through Donnie Cooper and he knew it. I didn't have much trouble with Richards or anyone because they sensed I would just walk out, which I did. I mostly refer to All Hands, wherein many would just go off and have a little party. I was not about going to do some silly shit for the org after spending 16 hours on my feet trying to corral pcs, find them housing and feeding them. I reflected that as a waiter I routinely made $200 a week and then suddenly was making $16 to $22 a week.

Now that you have me thinking about it, it was not much fun. The few times I cheated was fun for sure. What got entertained me was that I was always catching "OTs" acting like completely overwhelmed children. I would look up the PR defintions of what clear and OT were and then observe that the OTs were the most messed up people in the org. Mystic once told me that he had perfected the act of OT, fooling everyone. They all were expert at the glassy stare of "being there" bullshit, knowing just when to nod their heads that "you don't know what you are missing." I loved them all though. Hard to account for that.

This hurts my heart. I am devastated that I could have been in a position to help and was denied that by the stubbornness of the cult and/or its misguided members. I have been so fortunate and I would not hesitate to have helped her had I known. It is sick that the only people to prosper in scn are those at the top, and they got their wealth from stealing every worldly possession of the people they claim to care about. How could Greg Wilhere ignore the plight of Joan? He knew her from at least 1970. How could Penny Wisner/Bobby Wisner turn a blind eye? I guess I date myself because Penny is no longer a Wisner and Wisner is no longer a Bob. Fuck Scientology and the donkey it rode in on.

After staff, I doubt Penny or Bobby knew of Joan's plight - doubt they stayed in touch. Don't think Joan and Penny were ever as close as Joan and I. Wilhere - well, I dunno, but surely he was pretty robotic after a certain point.

Yeah when I wrote that I was so upset I did not stop to consider who actually knew Joan well. I don't know that I knew her well, except that she was kind to me and I have always remembered that. One of the few who were genuinely kind.

I recognize the faces of several of those in the above pics, but would be hard pressed to tell you the names now that it has been a complete lifetime ago.

And oh yes, Joan Tourtellot is the ravishing chickie on the right in the upper right photo.

I'm guessing you didn't want to look up Pandora's skirt, but I could be wrong. I'm thinking that you may have been intested in the crowd scene. The only thing I did see when I enlarged it, that I didn't see before was Greg Schulman (lower right edge). See if you can fill in some blanks. I remember some of the faces but the names escape me. I remember being at the wedding service, but do not remember being at the reception after. Where was that?
 
I looked up Pandora's skirt plenty of times I must admit, being what 20 I think. She was not exactly modest while she C/S'd. She did like her M&Ms though, which I dutifully refilled.
