I know this is New Year's Eve, and I wish you all a prosperous new year. However, I had a little volcanic exposion earlier tonight on chat, so I would like to explain. My heart is in Afghanistan, and I do not give a damn about anything in the US Government save the most honorable United States Marine Corps. My son is fighting with the Corps as I write. He has survived a battle unscathed along with his platoon. That gives me a little more passion when dealing with the "support the troops, oppose the war" mindset. From my viewpoint that is a non-starter. If you oppose the war, you oppose the troops, simple. Even if the policy is wrong (which the vast majority of those under arms disagree), it is what it is, and our men in uniform stand with each other. Us poor parents stand with our boys. It will never be otherwise.
I loathe the Jane Fondas of the world who spat on my generation when they came back from Viet Nam. While I was not there, my brother in law was and he deserved better.
Let me remind you why there is a war on. Try a plane landing in Detroit last Christmas Day. Try the slaughter of 19 year old boys being screened for deployment by a terrorist from within our own military at Fort Hood. For those outside the United States of America, please remember the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA on September 11th, 2001. For those within the US, never mind because you either have forgotten or think it was a conspiracy. I do not.
For those outside the USA, I hope you understand what happened that day in 2001. We here in the country seem to have amnesia about it. I have nothing but contempt for my countrymen who do not support this war.
