We all want to live in a world filled with people just like ourselves, who believe exactly as we do, and who see things exactly as we see them.

This is the goal of all Utopian movements, including Scientology.

It's also why all Utopian movements have created the greatest nightmares in all of human history.

Uniformity of belief is an impulse in human beings which leads to hell.

It is a false urge.

Scientology, and many other totalitarian groups, is built upon it.

Diversity of belief is uncomfortable, but leads to growth and advancement.

Closing the Freezone Success Story Forum was a step toward uniformity of belief, coming from the urge to have everyone on ESMB be people like ourselves, believing exactly as we do, seeing things exactly as we see them.

It is a mistake. It is a false urge.

It is the wrong direction.

Peace Out.

I hear where you are coming from.

But do you not post here and other boards/blogs in an effort to get people to see the Scientology world as you see it? Otherwise why bother with the time and energy investment?

By fighting for your belief that the thread lock is a freedom of speech violation aren't you trying to change my, the reader's, mind and persuade me to subscribe to your belief?

Only if there is a possibility that someone will oppose me.

Thesis + Antithesis = Synthesis

Ron was wrong about that.

Alanzo grab some plumbing and ground yourself. :p

OMG! Thank you for my biggest laugh of the morning!

After reading Emma's earlier reference (on some thread here) to prior crusades, I spent part of the morning finding and reading an old thread called The De-Personalization of Scientologists.

I've been participating in this board not even a year now, and the longer I'm here the more I appreciate how many times the same material and the same issues have been covered, often by the same people.

Every once in a while I send Emma a PM and say, "OMG, how do you stand it?!"

"We all"...

OMG that is so wrong -- surely you do not really believe this?

If no one agrees with me and everyone wants the ethnic cleansing of ESMB, who am I to say no?

You call it ethnic cleansing. I see it more as a housing issue. But the good thing is no post need be homeless with this new system. Existing success stories are already sheltered within the the locked forum but are still accessible. New and exciting stories:coolwink: are now free to appear anywhere on ESMB and may now even benefit from their new found freedom to dwell outwith the confines of that tired old thread

In their new habitat these success stories may even generate more interest and attention than has been afforded them in recent times. This may lead to better discussions on the subject rather than the general apathy that the existing thread generates. You will still be able to marvel at the incredible wins, question the poster regarding their assertions or even bash and ridicule to your heart's content. I see no freedom of speech issues with this change. No-one has been banned, asked or forced to leave.

Just, if there are going to be 'success stories', let them be your *own* success stories. Warts and all.

OK, so let's say you read an UN-success story about Scientology from WWP, or OCMB, and someone other than the writer wants to post it here to show how much Scientology sucks, and to discuss how unsuccessful Scientology was.

Are we going to ban that one, too?

Don't agree, Al. Personally I'm not troubled by the closure of the success story thread. I'm not a fan of success stories.

I think that IF there is to be a success story thread at all, then it should be open to ALL success stories - not just freezone - with the ONLY proviso that ONLY the person whose success it is may post his story. No more 2nd party posting, as Terril has done so much of on the board over the years.

Things must be quiet on the "what's-up-with-scientology" scene for this stuff to be getting so much airplay. Locking the Freezone Success Story thread isn't going to change a thing, there are much bigger and more important things to be considered.
Things like...

Maybe we need a "I have a new opinion of Alanzo" thread.

Or: "I have an old opinion of Alanzo."

Or: "My opinion of Alanzo sucks."

Or: "I have a new opinion of Alanzo sucks."

Calling an opinion "old" or "no longer used" is a Technical Degrade.
Perhaps this should be cross-posted to Keeping ESMB Working.
