Future politican wants to know how to deal with Scientology

Hi,

I hope to be running for either city council or mayor, which ever the case may be, I understand I will have to rub shoulders with the scientologists who come in the scene. I want to oust them alltogether, in fact, I'd like to get a warrant out to search their premises, documents, and other files to reveal who they are. Unfortunately, this is probably risky on my behalf, and I say this because they record my every step even now, ever since I swore at one on the sidewalk. Surprisingly, the spoke out to me. My mother, a city librarian who works at the CDB's Main Library. She was harassed by scientologists and was told not to tell anyone, not even me. Luckily, I was hidden behind a bookshelf. This is as bad as GWB infiltrating the Iraqi government. Someone told me that ousting them would never work, they compared Scientology in Clearwater to Mormons in Salt Lake. I told them that even though there isn't a way to get through this easily, theres certainly a way rid this corruption. I'm already probably considered a dangerous criminal to them in the first place. If you want to tell me your story about your experiences, and if you'd ever allow them to be publicized(with prior consent and with dignity), that would be cool. I understand if you don't want that though. The city of Clearwater cannot ignore this, just like you can't ignore cancer or a disease. They've ruined our town centre, and it has to stop. I read some people's stories, and its horrible. I can't imagine it, and I'm glad I never gave into these people. I think that its against everything I(and probably you) stand for. As a future political leader, I don't want my campaign to centre around this, as there are more important things, but this is important to, Its about 2nd or 3rd on my list. Under what most politicians go into government for is to under stand the people's destiny: to follow the lifelong pursuit of happiness. I understand that if I were to go against this group, they would cry out discrimination, and they would have me in for some criminal charge. The ties between the city and the cult are really disturbing, and I think that there's some money involved in this. They are exempt from taxes, which I think is not the way to go, the Dept. of Health needs to inspect each Scientology owned office, housing centre, and building, to find any inhumane things that might be objectionable to their welcomeness in Clearwater. Citizens have spoken out against the Scientologists, as shown in the 2008 Anonymous protests held downtown. Before I start my campaign, I'd like to go to a protest if there's one anywhere. BUT... I won't go maskless. I have a right to protest, and they have no right to harass and invade my privacy. It is a criminal activity to videorecord someone on a public sidewalk without their prior given permission.

Cheers!

Welcome "IG"...

Great to have you on the board!

My advice would be to first get elected, and in the interim read all you can find on the internet about the whole scene.

More advice will be pouring in soon, I am sure! :p

I agree with EP. Concentrate on getting elected. Be very wary of them in the meantime. Be cautious of who you trust.

The Internet is a great way to get information. I believe that there are local Anons as well- you should be able to connect with them via whyweprotest.com.

Hi and welcome, Isaac!

Just one thing you said that I have to disagree with...it is not a crime to videotape or photograph someone on public property. If that was true all paparazzi would be in jail. On public property you have no right to expect privacy.

Best of luck to you in your political career!:)

I think you may wish to learn a little more about how the law and the government work. You can't get a warrant to search people just to find out about them. Unless there is suspicion of a crime, Americans are protected from searches like that. Also, like it or not, the Church has tax-exempt status from the IRS. So until they rule otherwise you cannot do anything about it.
If you want to investigate the Church--follow the money. But even if you were the mayor, you can't investigate without reasonable cause.
Some reasonable causes might be federal child labor violations, immigration violations, and certainly there is erasonable grounds to look into the Church's fair game tactics.
The obvious question is why hasn't anything been done about it yet? It does appear that the currenct city coouncil looks the other way with regards to the Church. Probably there is some backroom dealings going on. Look at the planned real-estate developments. But I don't thing people care much about all that.
Your only justification for using the force of law against them is if there is evidence that they are violating any laws. Not just because you don't like them.
I suspect you are new to politics.

How to deal with scientology.... Refuse point blank to meet with them or any of it's front organisations.

No attacking, nothing that could be used against you as a "see, look, he hates religion" or other such pish. Simply do not communicate with them.

Of course, if they do come gunning for you... I say give em a taste of their own medicine, fair game the buggers! Bullying is never quite as fun when the shoe is on the other foot, I have noticed.

Other then that, good luck, concentrate on getting elected, but most of all, have fun!

Maybe it is just me but you sound as dangerous as they are. No offense, but you obviously have very little regard for civil liberties.

Welcome to the board Isaac.

As a fellow libertarian though, I would have to say that you need to get yourself to the nearest community college and enroll in a basic civics course.

And then perhaps read some more about libertarianism as a concept and practice.

If you know of crimes which would legitimately be cause for some of the actions you suggest, you should have already reported them to the appropriate authorities, local, statewide, such as the attorney general, and federal. And then be telling us on this board about the success or failure.

But to seek public office for the purpose of a personal vendetta against perceived enemies is a violation of the public trust. You have every right to protest scientology, speak against our beliefs, and investigate and ensure we are law abiding. But to gain public office to then go on a witch hunt, is against the priciples our country is founded on.

alex, libertarian, scientologist.

(and PS, since there are a larger percentage of scientologists in Clearwater, than in most other parts of the world, do you not think that you are poisoning the very electorate you are expecting to elect you?)

My opinion? (tin foil hat time) this almost looks like something put together by a person (or persons) "in" the cult, trying to get people on this board to start with "Yeah, yeah! Burn the Witch!".

Myself, not buying it completely. Not yet, anyway.

If these are sincere ideas, best of luck to you. I mean that. I will keep an eye on your progress, since I am within your voting district.

Anyway, welcome to the board, and good luck to you.

Dear Isaac,
Several points are salient from reading your post:

1. You are not philosophically libertarian.
2. You lack knowledge that the Libertarian Party seldom wins elections.
3. You come across as a someone from a British Commonwealth country and not the United States.

I don't think you are being honest and genuine in your post.

Hello registered US voters,

Hello my name is Isaac Marchant Grove. I am almost 15 years old and I live in Clearwater, Florida. Clearwater is in the 9th and 10th congressional districts of Florida. Being registered through the republican party, but working with both party members and opposition members alike. This nation has potential with a young president to defeat the impossible. To show young Americans that having a say and helping the young to speak out for once, doesn't hurt! The United State's adults had a chance, and they messed up. Now it is our chance to clean up and prove the government wrong! So please, Young and Old, if you would like to sign my petition and make proof that youth and ambition can drive this nation to great heights and excell. You are a part of a special country, the best in the world that everyone admires, and showing trust in the young people is important for our future and the future of many generations to come! A Grove Administration will cover the basic necessities that this country has lost under the "soon-to-be" defunct Bush Administration, which I entirely oppose. My goal as a registered republican running for president will be to give the pary a new definition. The People's Party... we are one of the most fortunate countries to have the most freedom worldwide, and we should be a role model for thousands of other nations and countries. Unfortunately, the Bush administration did not meet those expectations of the nation. Gays have the right to civil unions and marriage just as much as heterosexual couples. We need to reduce our dependance on foreign regimes for fuel. This nation is also on the brink of an economic downfall. This is unexcusable unacceptable, and we can not afford to run into another depression. Its time for young people, with grit and determination. For new, fresh, ideas! Age is a number that is used to discourage people from accomplishing what you want to do to make a difference. I'm happy to say that "I'm proud to be an American"... This country is capable of coming back. Re-defining the American dream is also another view. Obviously suburban sprawl hasn't helped. In fact, its made things worse. Air travel and highway traffic is feroucous. Amtrak has recently been authorized. I applaud the man behind the bill, Rep. John Mica, (R-FL). I applaud both Democrats and Republicans who have made a difference and fought for the people, and not their own interest. We are in a new century... A century where young people will manage the world for the next generation! Thank you! God Bless you, and be proud that you live in one of the most popular countries ever!

Thank you for your time,

Isaac Grove

Good luck Issac!!! I admire your drive and determination, you are brave and I wish you the very best for your future dreams, I hope they come true for you and also that you can help participate in bringing down a very dangerous scam cult.

Good for you, go for it!

Sounds like you will be very busy. If you have time, I suggest keeping a detailed diary of all communication and interactions with Scientologists. It may be very useful in the future.

Thanks for the replies...

Yeah, I do seem to be abit too quick. I'm taking it a bit more slower, and your information is valuable, as it could keep me from screwing up:happydance: . Anyways, Happy holidays! I hope all will be well for you :)

I do sound abit militant in my first thread, my apologies. Its kind of frustrating, but its not something I should get used to. Anyways, I'm only a rookie, and I wouldn't exactly start off as mayor, but I'd probably try councilmember? I should probably research more on the political platforms at the moment, as I wouldn't consider this an actual top priority, but ugh... Its frustrating. Anyways, more comments, suggestions, and stuff would be appreciated. I'm still in school, as I'm finishing up. I'm usually on my gaming/ train simulating forum and working part time at my friend's business in pasco, so I probably don't spend much time on the computer. I'm also a Seventh Day adventist christian, so I'm not a scientologist, and whatever. Anyways, Merry Christmas, and Cheers!
