Scientology film Going Clear is Sky's most-watched documentary since 2012
Sky Atlantic’s broadcast of an Emmy-winning film about Scientology was the most-watched documentary on the channel in three years, despite facing legal threats and a social media campaign designed to discredit it.
Going Clear: Scientology and The Prison of Belief, broadcast on 21 September, attracted an average audience of 243,000 including catchup viewing, with a peak of 313,000 viewers. The figures made the Sky co-production the most popular documentary on the channel since 2012’s Bradley Wiggins: A Year in Yellow.
Sky head of non-scripted commissioning, Celia Taylor, who was also executive producer on the documentary, said: “As co-producers as well as the broadcaster of Going Clear, we’re very pleased it’s been such as hit with critics and and Sky customers alike.
I watched this last night, and finished it off this evening. I suppose to the majority of us, there wasn't anything new, but it was well put together and showed how very weird everything has become! Seeing Hana Eltringham did take me back to her carrying out LRH's orders to lock me up in the chain locker when I was a kid of 11 years old for three days and nights. It also reminded me of being one of the first guinea pigs on the RPF, then the RPF's RPF at the same time.
One thing that did come out of it for me is how much I miss the friends I left behind. Are there any groups who meet up, just to socialise and have fun? I am not interested in joining a group who just spends the whole time talking about Scn., but it would be great to socialise with people who share the same or similar history. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would love to know please?
Terril,
Would you hook up vumba with the fully out exes in the UK, staying clear of the Indies and any others still doing scn?
I'm sure you can. It would be a nice thing to do, if you would.
