Wow, everyone! Thanks, again, for the warm welcome! And all the variations on my username: ZZ, zorzettarina, zorzettalina, zorzy....HA! LOVE THEM ALL! :happydance:

Sally, I wanted to address some things you wrote. Wow, what a great post you made!

I couldn't agree more. Since a young age I have been very intrigued/ interested in comparative religion and cults. So much so that I ended up majoring in Cultural Anthropology so I could spend four years studying cults and religions of different societies. In recent years, I have also began researching "corporate cults"...I'm sure I'll get more into that in the coming days.

I think institutionalized injustice and human rights violations should be fought, always. At all times. It's my "Prime Directive"!

Life is full of ups and downs, and let's face it, if approached at the right time in my life, I could have easily become a Scientologist because I know brainwashing is a very serious and effective "tool". I don't agree with those who say "why didn't you just get out!?" And perhaps I know what it feels like to be trapped because I was in an abusive relationship for two years and didn't know *how* to escape. In other words, I GET it!!!!

WELCOME Z! Great contributions :thankyou: Purple

So, I have been lurking for a very, very long time! Not just on this message board, but Operation Clambake, xenutv, etc. I've always hesitated to join the board because I have never been a member of Scientology. That being said, I've always been interested in different religions and cults and their impact on society as a whole. Trust, I have read a lot on the subject and follow it as if I were an "ex". While I, myself, have never had to deal with the injustices perpetrated by the CO$ - my passion for bringing them down is large!!

There were so many times I wanted to jump into a conversation on this board, but was hesitant to do so. I thought: what right do I have to comment on something I have never been through. But I so badly want to participate, so if you all can accept that I am not an "ex-er", I would love to join the conversation! And, lend any help to "the cause" when I can.

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the board. If you have an opinion or viewpoint, in my opinion, you have a right to comment. One of our biggest contributors to this board has never been a Scn. (I still swear he knows more about Scn than I do after 19 years of experience.)

Most of us welcome "outsiders".

Hello Zorzyettalina!

Glad that you get it, honey, and very glad to hear that you are OUT of that abusive relationship! :happydance:

Freedom and safety is what I want for every COS former and current member, too. :grouch: And I want it NOW!

A cultural anthro approach is very useful in helping others to understand how the "culture" of Corporate Scientology holds so much control over it's members.

Welcome again, and keep posting!

Hello Back

Hello Zorzetta,

I too consider myself to have never been in, but I had a brush with it, years ago, so I guess scn thinks of me as having been in. I have been obsessed ever since with finding out all I could about it. And I having been HOPING and WAITING for this day - these days - these last few years, for the insiders to get out - and for those who got out - to start speaking. Takes a hell of a lot of courage to stand up to the Goliath of scn. They need support.

The more of us, the outsiders, who get interested and support these people, the bettter the chance of something positive being done to help those still in, and to expose the abuses of scn. Welcome !

Hi and welcome!

Hi ZeeZee,

It is great to have you here. :happydance: I for one would love to hear more about the comparative aspects of scientology and other cults. Please tell us stuff you have discovered in your studies.

Welcome! Yes, you DO "get" it! I escaped from a physically and mentally abusive marriage directly into Scientology - and indeed, the mental aspects of what draws you in, what keeps you in, what makes you convinced you can't get out - are the same. So I very much look forward to reading your opinions and comments, as I'm still trying to sort that out for myself -- so it never happens again!
