I think we need a "Quack Watch" person on this forum. That excludes the freezoners and their spin-off loonie systems (they can carry on and destroy what is left of their minds - I don't care). The reason I say so is that I see even more dangerous quackery trying to take root on this forum to prey on those recovering from their cult experiences.

Chiropractors are given plenty of legitimate medical props for dealing with back pain, especially chronic back pain that other doctors would either have to medicate or just tell you to deal with it. No, it doesn't cure asthma or any of the other wacky bullshit, but you can't throw out the useful bits out of hand. You really hate any time the world seems to work in a way that's contrary to the theories you've established about it. That's not science, that's fundamentalism.

I don't have time to address this in detail, but I've been planing a thread that will discuss that. Maybe in a couple of weeks after my trial.

Meanwhile, did you ever wonder why you don't see: Alternative Muffler Shops? Alternative bricklayers? Alternative mathematicians?

There's a very simple reason.

The origins of chiropractic is NONSENSE. Look it up. Magnet therapy, bone manipulations with the claim that 95% of all diseases are due to spinal chord misalignment and elusive subluxations. Total quackery.

However, most chiropractors have cleaned up their act. They were forced to by legitimate doctors and certifications boards. Traditional chiropractors are kooks. Reform chiropractors appear to provide a valuable service, that general practitioners can't provide. You can also go to an osteopath, which is a real doctor that has a specialty in bones, ligaments, nerves and related ailments.
