Your link take you to a page put up by the c of s . It may say Dianetics at the top. But is a CofS site. When you link to find the nearest Dianetics Center "near you". All you get are listings of churches of Scien.

Not 100% sure, but I don't think there are any "Dianetics Centers"

This is EXACTLY the lie I fell for. I read the Dianetics book and went in to try it out and there was NO Dianetics center. There was just a CofS.

There used to be "Dianetics Centers", otherwise known as missions.

I'm sticking to my guns here. DMSMH. Published 1950. Church of Scien founded 1953 or 1955. I believe Scien tried to bring into the fold and control of the church the old book one auditors well up into the early 1970's. When they couldn't control it Scien disbanded it. It is part of the LORE of Scien that book one took off via mimeographed copies and people were book oneing all over the place. It is my opinion that Hubbard had a choice to make in regards to how to get control of this stroke of good luck. How to monetize it. How to punch it up.

The Church was founded.

Yes in some countries where it is impossible to establish a new religion CofS is called Dianetic centers I suppose. In Mexico they are labeled "philosophy"

But the days of the independent book one auditors are history. I imagine if anyone tried to set up a Dianetic center and offer book one they would get a swift law suit.

If Hubbard, after the success of Dianetics, had continued on in a Scientific manner, he would have had all sorts of problems with peer review . Starting a religion, he could retain complete control and do anything he so desired without any checks.

Rubbish. People all over the world are delivering Scn and Dianetics and lawsuits are thin on the ground. I've already posted an URL where a COS group teaches how to do book 1.

My Class 5 org in the UK was known mainly as the Hubbard Dianetics Centre. It had "Church Of Scientology" signs outside but also "Hubbard Dianetics Foundation" signs. The letterheads it used were mainly "Hubbard Dianetics Centre".

I think the word "Dianetics" was considered to cause less entheta than "Scientology".

At one point in time they had a 5-a-side soccer team called Dianetics. After one game a member of the opposing team said to them: "You guys seem to be quite fit considering you're diabetics".:roflmao:

Rubbish to your rubbish. There is no way the CofS would allow an independent person to open a book one Dianetic center without slapping a law suit on them.

Interesting thought. The CofS would probably lose such a law suit as there was Dianetics before Scientology. Perhaps the development of the bridge and the placement of Dianetics (a new form of) after Scien. was another method of wrestling control away from independent book one auditors and trying to bring them into the fold of the new church and under its control.

I've been trying to get a point of clarification across to Kate8024. Dianetics was introduced to the world as a SCIENTIFIC discovery. A scientific discovery entails all sorts of academic peer review , publishing papers, independent duplication of claimed results and on and on.

Starting Scientology, a religion, then gathering all the old timer book one practitioners and Dianetics under that umbrella stopped all that potential scrutiny.

Enthetan, all this advice needs a sticky of its own! Thank you! Do you mind if I utilize the "blog this" feature to save?

I'm thinking it would be useful to have something to the effect of "Counter-surveillance: things you should know, to not make it too easy for people to find and target you", or some such.

Kate8024, this all started because you posted you could walk into a CofS and get Dianetic auditing for a bad back. And I replied you must have some fundemental missunderstanding about CofS because they don't do that.

No matter how far afield we go in discussing this point, I stand pat. I stick to my guns on this.

I didn't say it would _help_ your bad back. I said that you could go there and ask for auditing because you had a bad back and they would give it to you. That kind of stuff is what Book One auditing is all about. That doesn't imply that it will actually work.

Kate no matter how fine you whittle this point....obfuscate......and misdirect the topic.....I still think you just don't get it.

I don't get what I'm not getting then? which of these points is wrong?

Premises:
1) Book One claims to be able to help a bad back via auditing
2) The cofs delivers Book One auditing
Conclusion:
Therefore, the CofS delivers auditing that Book One claims will help a bad back

These are the only points I'm making, there is no obfuscation or misdirection here...

First she said:
Sure but if I just want to go in and get some auditing for my bad back or something that doesn't require getting or maintaining any certificates.

Then she said:

I'm not saying that it would fix it but a bad back in certainly within the realm of the type of things LRH claims to be psychosomatic and curable with Dianetic auditing.

I think s/he slipped up in the first post (57 in this thread) and said what s/he really believes for once? But why argue? You can never win or persuade her to [strike]stop lying[/strike] change her mind, or reach agreement.

WTF????? There you go again. You CANNOT go into a c of s and get auditing for a bad back! They do not do that! They do not offer that service! They do not sell that service!
