Cat Daddy, I just want to tell you that Diana Hubbard absolutely loved her father, L. Ron Hubbard, and was positively enamored with him,., in her early thirties. She visited Austin, Texas, to do an event and I was appointed as her hostess, chauffeur, etc., and spent many hours with her. She was a very free spirit herself, a very talented entertainer, and I can assure you with all vehemence, that she would not be like this if her father had suppressed her free spirit in any way. She had been a ballerina, could play the piano like a concert pianist, and played such classics as Chopin, etc. She wrote her own music and it was some of the best I have ever heard. She was fun loving, spirited, and wanted to go “kicker dancing”, (country music dancing, much in vogue at the time), but was not allowed to by the then Assistant Guardian for Public Relations, Donnie Webster, who thought it might be a security risk for her.. She desperately wanted to go and I was ready to take her. This after having been up all night before getting her stats up as CS-6, (Commodore’s Staff for Public Divisions), traveling on an airplane, coming to Austin, giving a concert that was delayed by several hours, and then going out with a bunch of Scientologists for dinner, where she laughed, joked and was kind of a prankster, making a mess out of the condiments on the table. She is one of the more free spirits I have ever met, and I know one when I meet one! I cannot imagine her being this way, if L. Ron Hubbard didn’t like the free spirit of children!
She told me that her father, “ever the gentleman”, (her words) had sent her a dozen red roses for Valentine’s Day, (which had just passed), and she told me also that her mother, Mary Sue Hubbard, was an extremely organized lady. She also told me that Ron and Mary Sue, her parents, had met in Austin, Texas “across the street” (her words again, as we were getting in the elevator at the Austin Org at the time, which is across the street from the main part of the University of Texas.) She said Mary Sue was going to school there and her Dad gave lectures there. This was corroborated by another man who came into the Austin Org one day while I was at the reception desk, and asked about L. Ron Hubbard, saying that he had listened to LRH give lectures at the University of Texas, some thirty years earlier!
It was very clear to me that Diana loved and respected her parents very much, and I just want you to know that so that you don’t have any misconceptions.
Additionally, there are many early lectures where LRH talks about the free spirit of little kids, and how they can be more sane than adults. I would love to give you exact references, but it would take me hours and hours to find those references. I know there is one lecture, where he talks about a little kid not being able to watch a football game on TV with his parents more than a few minutes, because he just can’t sit around that long and would rather be in motion! He said this from the perspective of the little kid being active and he was complimentary about him not being a spectator in life; that the little kid would be more inclined to go outside and play football himself! That really resonated with me at the time, because I was a very active little kid, and I could only watch football for a few minutes and then I wanted to go out and play! Later, as an adult I would spend hours and hours watching football with my Dad!
I always enjoy your posts, Cat Daddy, and if you ever come to Texas, I’ll take you and your wife/sweetheart “kicker dancing” and we’ll have some fun!

It makes me sad, because so many children of others suffered, he had his favorites.
