Spoofing SNL style, Office of Special Affairs ordering Dirty tricks, spying and harassment on HBO and BBC's Louis Theroux with an unlimited budget.
Rolling back the flap of the HBO documentary, Larry Wright acknowledged the "Church"s binders gave him the material for the book "Going Clear and the Prison of Belief".
Note: all their threat letters to Alfred Knopf (the illustrious publisher in NY) were hot air.
Scientology has not sued ~~ it was all bogus. All bluff.
A tactic to scare media used for years, now the bluff is known about.

Another great video.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I loved the end of the video when OSA agent refuses the lawyer advance at her with the excuse/justification that she hasn't got the time because she needs to clear the planet.:hysterical:

You two together are beyond delightful!

Particularly love:

"I'm going to give you an unlimited budget" whereby Mr Mill's response was so full of delight, I thought he was going to jump up and start skipping around the room like some gleeful child. Instead he remained seated, quickly licked the drool sliding out of the corner of his mouth, and offered an almost composed "Oooohhh, an unlimited budget!!"

I think Mr Mills, of Weephuckum & Howe, LLP, Inc., may be a tad optimistic with his question "Are there going to be any loopy sea org members showing up..." Um, chances are high Mr Mills, there will be more loopy sea org members showing up. This is scientology. They "do" loopy, consistently.

And, finally, I wonder if Mr Mills, of Weephuckum & Howe, LLP, Inc., will persist with his flirtatious pursuit of Ms Let's-Make-the-Media-Quiver-into-Submission? Or will her "Mr Mills!!!! We have a planet to clear!!!" indignant retort make him back off?

I can't wait for the next episode to find out. :)

The Scientology culture is one of THREAT. Threat that you will be punished, that you will *LOSE* your spiritual freedom, your spiritual eternity, your friends, your family, and all rights if you do not obey. It is constant pressure, constant threat as a staff member. Public who are paying good money experience a different *EDITION* or version of Scientology. And even many public have a rough time, especially with the enforced loss of family members.
The humorous part of it is that Scientologists believe they are a*Superior* and *Elite*

Terrific vid, Karen! Thanks so much for doing it.

You've done a great job of explaining Non-Enturbulation orders and SP Declares and their effects. Lori Hodgson was terrific, too. What a brave and wonderful woman. She's gone through so much heartache from the Church of Scientology breaking up her family. She interviews well and I'm very grateful for all her vids and statements of the atrocious abuses she has suffered.

As you know, I was an MAA (Ethics Officer) in the Sea Org. I ran the ethics section in the mid 80s. My title was Director of Inspections and Reports, AOLA. Often executives ordered Non-Enturbulation orders on a whim, or when they'd ordered something abusive or undoable and a staff member tried to query it. I had a hard time standing up to such orders - to stand up to one of your seniors often meant getting one's self investigated, sent to amends or worse (RPF). What tools we all were! NEVER have I seen a Non-Enturbulation order on a staff member where the staff member truly was creating all the trouble accused. It's just a way to shut a person up, break his/her spirit and force them to buckle under the pressure of losing job, friends, family, and freedom. (I never personally ordered or issued one of those, btw)

Yes, Committees of Evidence are a kangaroo court, EVEN when the Convening Authority and local justice chief are decent people. Staff have to conduct these off post hours, which means late at night and being even more short of sleep than the usual 6 hours. On the occasions when someone was found not guilty, the Convening Authority or Justice Chief would kick it back. If they didn't like the recommendations, they would kick it back. If there was a senior authority above both the Convening Authority and Justice Chief who had ordered this, then the Convening Authority and Justice Chief would confer with that senior manager, and if they didn't like the results, they would again kick it back.

If the original committee STILL doesn't come up with the results desired, then they can be disbanded and a new committee formed. That's happened plenty.

And the worst part of the Committee of Evidence is - it only investigates an individual. There is no investigation of circumstances, which is about as sane as ignoring the oil slick left by a truck which causes a car driver to hit another car. When church policy itself or an order from a senior manager causes the problem, that is set aside and ignored as infallible. Only individual staff are investigated and punished, so there can be no finding that isn't "guilty" of one or several serious offenses.

Karen, is this video interview ^^^^ really 2 hrs and 12 minutes long? Seems so! I'll need to reserve a day to get through this!

Update: I have just found that the interview with Tony really begins around the 15 minute mark.

Former Sea Org member Marc Headley describes how he and a Danish film crew were ambushed at Int Base by Scientologists. This story was picked up by the International Business Times after Marc filmed the event with his phone and Tony Ortega published the account of the ambush.

represented here with 6 decades of experience with training and auditing.

Are you right and they are all wrong ? dumb ? misguided ? dense ? too low toned ? SP's PTS ?

When it comes to taking a person's money, the Church of Scientology moves at the speed of light. When it comes to refunding money, however, the Church moves in a geological time frame and uses its bad faith sham contract terms to make it virtually impossible to get money back.

One example: By definition, donations to the IAS are inherently out exchange as nothing is exchanged with the donor. Compounding this violation of its own "doctrine of exchange" that Scientology made such a big deal about with the IRS, IAS donations are non-refundable per the donation contract.

The inference here is that the IAS does not practice the doctrine of exchange and admits such when takes in donations on a nonrefundable basis. The IAS is yet another wealth extraction scam in the larger Scientology con game masquerading as a religion.
The Church of Scientology has given out a few refunds here and there. However, whenever it has done so there is always an SP Declare, a non-disclosure agreement, or some other self-serving penalty attached.

Yes, I have fought those battles. The one to get all my IAS donations refunded and the one to get repayment of money I had on account at my local org.

They were hard-fought battles but I won them both and as an added bonus I got Declared, which meant no more piles of junk mail and no more annoying phone calls.:happydance:

.....

Excellent expose on the cult's dirty little secret about "refunds", "exchange", "regging" and other things that go Ka-Ching in the night.

Scientology's one-way methodology of aggressively grabbing money and holding onto it with a death grip and never giving it back is analogous to something--I just can't quite put my finger on it. Hmmmm, I wonder what it reminds me of. . .

* A bank robbery? Kind of, except there is no "getaway car"--Scientology robbers keep coming back to the scene of the crime every single day to repeat its "successful actions". They have no plans whatsoever of going away until they are very sure they got it all.

* A street mugging? Yeah, I think we're getting warmer now. One seldom reads about mugging victims going back into the hood to do their refund routing forms.

* White collar crime? Oooh, now that's getting hotter. If it's a white clerical collar worn by a Scientology "minister" madly ringing up sales behind a cash register.

It's perplexing, trying to come up with an exact analogy for Scientology's Byzantine financial system. Maybe I'm overcomplicating it. Let's try simple:

SCIENTOLOGY'S ALL PURPOSE
REGGING & REFUNDS TECHNOLOGY

WRINGER_zps6bf31be9.jpg

1. Insert Scientologist here.

2. "Handle" Scientologist.

3. Convenient cash capture device.

It's like if Home Depot said, "Sure you can bring this chainsaw back for a full refund if you're not completely satisfied. If you do, you'll simply have to fill out a waiver stating that you will never be able to enter another Home Depot store again. In addition, please understand that you may have live chainsaws, coming to rip you to shreds in your sleep, for all of eternity. Should I ring that up for you now?"

We (Sea Org, Staff) all got into Scientology to help ~~ to "save the world" or so we believed.
How odd that we are now trying to save the world FROM Scientology. Now bizarre is that ?

Maybe the trick is for us to stop worrying about saving the world and concentrate on saving ourselves. Trying to save the world has created the worst of fanatics, cults and religions. "God, please save me from your True Believers!"

Yes, spot on and exactly accurate, both you wonderful people. Also Jeff, your solo rendition above on the refund-sham is brilliant and exactly as it is.

Keep up these truthful exposés you two . . . the truth you expose is actually more than they can stand . . .

Possible explanation for why Commander sees things a different way. . .he is marching to a different beat.

The tune is familiar but the words are somehow, um--different. lol.

A Day In The Life of a Scientologist

I read the completions today, oh boy

About a lucky wog who made the grade
And though the stats were rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the downstat graph.

He blew his mind out in a session
He didn't notice that the decades had changed
A crowd of people stood and clapped
They'd seen his case before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Loons

I saw an intro film today, oh boy
The Scientology navy had just won the war
A crowd of PCs turned away
But I just had to look
Having read Ron's book
I'd love to put you on.

Woke up, did what Ron said,
Went exterior from my head
Found my way uptone and drank kool-aid,
And looking up I noticed Ron was great.

Found my certainty and wore my hat
Erased my bank in seconds flat
Found my way up the Bridge and had an FN,
Somebody spoke about Xenu and I went into a dream. . .
