National Minimum Wage in the UK

Rest in Peace
I am trying to revive this topic of National Minimum Wage to be paid to Scientology Org staff in the UK and I might need help from ex-members who know how the pay system works. I have already alerted HMR&C to OEC vol 3 1991 and given a further explanation of how the unit pay scheme works (from Authur Dent) so they have a lot already but they might insist on talking to ex-staff members who have worked with the pay scheme. That is why I might need your help.

Please note that I am NOT trying to get back wages for anybody. From my point of view, people willingly worked there knowing they would get very little at least for a long time. That's your choice and you have to live with it, as far as I am concerned. My beef with them is that by not paying minimum wage they are excluding many young people with dependents who would want a job working for them with the hopes of higher rewards in the future. The lack of minimum wage excludes them from this employment and it is not fair.

I think somebody tried this before and it failed but I feel it is worth giving it another go.

So if you are an ex-staff member and you know how the pay scheme works and you are willing to help then please PM me.

I assume that what I have written is true and that the pay scheme started by Hubbard in 1957 and republished in 1991 in OEC vol 3 1991 is still functioning and being used to pay staff with. If there was some change after 1991 such that now the staff are really and truly volunteers and the pay scheme is no longer functioning then somebody please tell me and give me the details. I am sticking my neck out a long way with this one. I could get sued for this. :nervous:

I believe either Scooter or Feral worked and posted on this regarding Australian churches. Perhaps they would know. Try PMing them, look under members list in community section.

BTW, thanks for all you and Thackery are doing to rally changes in CoS getting UK rates relief unjustly. It's really commendable.

I'm working on Narconon complaints and cases and wish could be of further help but I have little time. Best wishes....

It's the status of Org staff/volunteers in the UK I need to know about as applied to the current day. I assume I have got it right as I don't see this pay policy as having been revoked since it is linked in with the principle of Exchange and fundamental to the teachings of Scientology. But I am happy to be corrected in light of any information supplied.

I'd like to check on this issue of "unit pay" again. Has anything changed in the UK regarding the way staff are paid? Are they still using the "unit pay" scheme such that the ED gets the most and the DED gets second most or have they truly moved over to a scheme where they put in travelling expense claims and get reimbursed to their actual travel costs? And if the latter, what happens during a boom period regarding their "expenses"?

Once recognition of religious status is revoked, going after them for not paying minimum wage should be easy.
