New Scilon community center opening in Harlem..

The E. 125th St. chapel and community center are part of a new effort to expand the church from Hollywood to urban areas. A similar center was built in gang-heavy Inglewood, Calif., in 2011, and others are being built in Chicago and Philadelphia.

I was in that area of Harlem not long ago and didn't notice it. I will look for it next time.

When I was being recruited for Harlem staff last year (can't believe it's been a year!), I was told it would open August 2012, then end of the year, and now...? At least it looks like something's actually happening.
