John Fisher

I found a possible suspect, but no confirmed caek-- John Sergio Fisher, a very successful architect with a practice in the SF Bay Area. This is the only alumus of this name I found associated with CMU. I could find no smoking gun connecting him with Scientology, so he remains only a possibility.

This year’s Distinguished Service Award winner, John Fisher, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architecture from Carnegie Mellon. An international expert on design and performance spaces, he has designed more than 100 theaters throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, including the Philip Chosky Theater in the Purnell Center for the Arts at Carnegie Mellon. Fisher is a long time board member and program leader for West Coast Drama Alumni Clan. Among his many contributions to the Clan’s stellar growth and history, Fisher and his late wife, Bonnie Johns Fisher (A’62), hosted the Clan’s annual holiday party for many years.

I did not find a John Fisher nor a Bonnie Johns or a Bonnie Fisher in the Service Completion list.

He is a principal in the firm JSFA Architecture (John Sergio Fisher & Associates), although he has to be close to retirement, if not already an emeritus.

May not be related, but found mention of a “John Fisher” from a 1992 “Declared Suppressive” list

Did Hillary Clinton write to CMU for Scientology asking it to fire David Touretzky?

Did Hillary Clinton write to Carnegie Mellon University for Scientology asking them to fire Prof. David S. Touretzky?

From the link in the OP: http://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2014/03/06/scientology-infiltrates-carnegie-mellon-university/
Greenway talked about how the Church has gotten numerous letters sent to CMU about Touretzky including one from Hillary Clinton asking that he be fired, but CMU still stands behind him because they don’t care what he does on his free time.

I suspect it's a load of Scilon-manufactured hooey. There's no record of this anywhere. And why would she? Hilllary was a New York senator in 2005-2006; CMU is in Pennsylvania.

Babbles is whining about the name of her mention in the OSA document. :hysterical:

This thread provides a new explanation to that age old question, "Why doesn't the FBI look into the abuses and criminal activity of the cult of $cientology?"

Look at the life of your typical government employee. They work for twenty years and then retire. What is a forty-something ex FBI guy supposed to do? Most go into business for themselves in one of two related industries: Security and surveillance!

Talk about not biting the hand that feeds you. The cult is the FBIs retirement program.

Smurf is correct; I picked up the wrong photo on the CMU webpage. Here is the correct photo of John Fisher:

Hahahaha...I wondered about a scientologist attending CMU. CMU is one of the best science/tech universities in the world. I know people who turned down Harvard to go there. ( The govt even keep several floors of an underground bldg at CMU for their own advanced computer/robotic research - which are highly restricted areas of the campus)

Of course, the Scilon studied "ACTING" at one of the best science school in the country. God I can't stop laughing at these idiots. (Whereas Dave Touretzky is the real deal, teaching computer science at a university that's in the top of that field.)

There's no disputing that CMU is an awesome Comp Sci (and sciences related to technology in general) school or that Touretzky is a very good academic in his field. However that doesn't also conflict with the fact that CMU also has the oldest degree granting drama university in the US. Or that their drama school is one of the best in the country with a slew of successful playwrights and actors off the top of my head Sutton Foster, Rene Auberjonois, Steven Bochco, Zachary Quinto - I'm sure there's more but that's off the top of my head. If I'm not mistaken Quinto doubled in Comp Sci and Drama probably why he makes a damn good Spock.

Cult member doesn't equal Stupid, it equals emotionally naive and possibly abused backgrounds. In fact anthropologically speaking more intellectually normal to intelligent people with emotionally stunted and/or abused persons are most likely to join cults. The posit being that more intellectual people are more likely to be non-believers and/or alt-religion believers because of openness to new experiences and experimentation.

I've had endless encounters with drama students and actors, esp. when I had to share a building with some during college. There are smart ones among the bunch, but they are the exception, not the rule. Sorry but Dave Touretzky < Great Spock any day of the week. Watching a few episodes of the "Actor's Studio" could cure anyone of taking actors too seriously.

I don't believe all cult members are stupid, nor do I think that most are abused or emotionally naive (Though obviously you have people with abused backgrounds in almost every group) I think someone who is immature would be more apt and someone providing "all the answers" is very attractive, a father figure if you will. If you notice most people get involved in cults when they are young and idealistic - it's when they are most likely to fall for a spiritual con man or a cult. I think many may also have what they term "seeker genes" that predispose someone to religion and seeking spiritual experiences.

I don't believe scnos are stupid. Some of them are quite intelligent. And Lrh was, diabolically so. Dm, no so much, but a good minion of lrh's, living off lrh's evil legacy, because he was the biggest bully (= narcissistic envious sociopath) of the bunch. Lrh would be proud of him.

We have many very intelligent, perceptive exes on ESMB.

I do think that when scnos leave co$/scno, their IQs go up - hopefully back to what it was before they went in.
Yes, folks, scno does lower the IQ - Stunts it, just like it stunts emotional, intellectual and independent growth of any kind.
But unless there is brain damage, due to health issues, disease, abuse, malnutrition, lack of sleep, and the like, it is reversible -
up to a point. But we all suffer from that affliction, so exes are no different than anyone else in the outside world.

But the innies, tsk tsk - did you see that video of Marty being harassed at LAX? Dumb, super dumb - not only on dm's part, but on theirs, the perpetrators of it, too. They should know better. But then their IQs have been lowered, and they look like they've been suffering from malnutrition and lack of sleep, and probably abuse too. We should pity them - except - isn't that low toned? :evillaugh:

Well, they can kiss my ass, :kma: :bleh: because I do pity them. Poor suckers.
:scnsucks:

Now actors, that is a different story. A very few of them are actually intelligent. Not a one of those is a scno.

I know that the cult does its best to keep its members off the internet so that they won't find out how fucked things are. But, honestly, in this day and age, it's not such a cut and dried thing. People may police themselves a while (which is what cult members are trained to do. They will actually narc on themselves.) but too many red flags, too many warning bells. I do NOT know the true percentages but my personal guess is that over 90% of CofS members end up leaving.

I know some die hards who will not leave. Like some of the DSAs. These people have actually been party to and covered up crimes and even child abuse. Where they knew it was happening- they weren't bamboozled into believing it didn't happen- and knowing that this shit happened, opted to stay.

So why would someone like that who knew all that stay in? Where they aren't just believing lies and drinking koolaid but actively involved in cover ups, lies, illegal acts, abuse including coercing abortions in some cases?

I can only come up with one reason.

Evil.

I really really fucking hate thinking of people as evil. I think we all have a story to tell and a person can do some very heinous immoral shit and be culpable but not be flat out evil. Some people are just misguided or confused.

But in the scenario I name above I really cannot find any other motivation or reason. I just cannot.
