I just received a suspect email. The subject matter was essentially ragging on about Marty Rathbun, notably about his "questionable tech", as I would characterize it. Nothing terribly surprising one way or another, although I would hazard a guess that its origins lie with the church as some sort of "denigration & disinformation campaign.
Now I would no more seek to defend Rathbun in a p!ssing match with the church as I would strive to make the Co$'s case for them. But I do find the very receipt of such an email in my public email account as worth noting.
For the record the email came from a hushmail account ([email protected]), a mail site which is often used to avoid direct attributions. Moreover the mail was indicated it came from a '[email protected]'. I'd guess that that might possibly refer to a Peter G. Nelson? The email address itself indicates an australian connection of some sort, whether the id is legitimate or pseudonymous.
Anyway, what is clear is that I've no idea who this person is. This person is apparently targeting freezoners & independents for a private mail campaign without any regard as to whether he is known to his addressees. And additionally this person, whether under his own id or some fictional persona, is embarked upon a campaign which clearly intends to publicly discredit Rathbun as an alternative to the church.
Once more, FWIW, I've no particular concern with regard the contents of the email one way or another. Neither Rathbun nor the Co$ represent anything for which I've respect. I simply find the email's sudden appearance in my inbox as suspect.
