Recent deaths from the inside

Shesh Rick Melrose is still in!? Gad that must be 40 years. I liked Rick. He was kind of a hip Dadio guy wth his Go-tee. He did the Intro lectures at Santa Clara for a while. He was a Electronics Engineer if I remember right.

How bout Phillida Rundberg, Frank O. Eaton, Jeanean Clark? or Rich and Rosa Graf? Brodie Noesky(sp), Garret Perry, Steve Draben, Mike Toth. They were all Stevens Creek guys.
 
I was on staff at SFO for 3 years in the early 70s and knew Bob and Mary Rezzonico, Rick and Sharon Melrose, Mike Berman, Steve and Melanie (who passed on) Schaeffer, Bill Titus (whom I "recruited" for staff, I'm sorry to say), Jim and Margie Vannier (He was ED at one time) Kathy O'Gorman (AG), Janet Meinsma (aggressive reg) and a whole bunch of others from that time.

Two of my kids went to Sunreach school for a while in the late 70s.

My name is Bill Offermann and still live in the Bay Area. Left Scn in1983.

Those were interesting but creepy times.

Would like to hear from my old fellow staff and friends from those old days!
 
Looker, I left in 2006 and this is what was happening then. Rick was still how you described him but is now married to Penny, don't know last name but could be Falcon as her business has that name in the title. They have been married many years. Both great people and Rick had been doing Diantetics seminars for new people as late as '06.

Rich and Rosie split up in the early 2000s and Rosie remarried to Hal Hawkins. He was around back then, don't know if you know him. I think Rich went to LA area, but not sure. Brodie and Diane had two girls all are still in and the older one married a guy who works with either the DSA or or CCHR. Garrett is still auditing at Stevens Creek. Brodie was running Redwood City mission, don't know if that is even still around. It was originally Palo Alto mission post Gerbode and later moved to Redwood City. A few years later Cindy Feshbach opened up the "new" Palo Alto and surprisingly, she is no longer in the area...moved to Texas. Can't wait to hear the real story behind that one.

Don't know the other guys enough to comment.

I knew Jim & Margie Vannier and "KO" (Kathy O'Gorman)...they's all good folks, IMO. :yes:

I was staff at the same time as you. Is your sister still in?

Those were crazy times, but I have a lot of fond memories of my friends. I'll PM you.

My wife founded Sunreach and ran it through around 1980. She is still chairman of the board.

Yup!
Astrid was actually pretty shy - always nervous - and a very nice person.
Had a habit of always twirling her hair with her fingers.

I was on both SFO D and F lines around 76.
Wendy Peterson became Wendy Negley and was the Sr C/s for a long time.
She's still in. Married to Dennis Negley and they have a daughter, Devon.

Cheri I don't remember.

Was Nancy Kelly a very skinny, shy girl with glasses?

I vaguely remember Larry.

I remember your name but I think you were before my stint.
 
Nancy Kelly went to Flag for some training back in about 1971 or 72, came back totally disgusted with Hubbard and scn. She wasn't skinny, but voluptuous; Smart and not particularly shy. Nice person.

The only Cheri I remember was Cheri Halsey, divorced from Jim.

Larry Dahlquist did his academy levels at SFO and audited me on Grade 1 or 2. Later went "independent" and changed his name to Laurence West.

What a GREAT thing to say about Nancy Kelly. The little I knew of her (obviously prior to her going to Flag) was that she followed org rules to the "T"

I had a crush on her. She was a knockout (San Francisco style). She wore thick yellow glasses. Very hip looking. Good auditor. She had everything, as far as I was concerned. Now you say, she was really really smart. I'm so glad she left.

Cheri Halsey. yes. I thought that was her last name, but I wasn't sure. She was really nice. Intelligent too. She let my twin and me alone.

Larry Dahlquist was a schlemiel. Trouble found him.

He picked up a girl at the coffee shop on Mason St. They went back to her apartment. They were making out on the couch, when she said, "There's something I have to tell you. I haven't had the operation yet."

Then there was the time, when he was on the briefing course in LA. He was doing his wash in a laundromat. When he came back to pull it from the dryer, it had been stolen. He called his mother to ask her to buy him new underwear. He didn't know how to do it for himself. He was about 28 years old then.
 
I don’t know if this has been posted on ESMB before but Ray Gonzalez of Santa Barbara, CA passed on from a sudden rare blood disease in ’07. He was only 60 years old. Ray’s wife’s name was Allison and they had a son, Kyle.

Wilbur "Bill" King (October 6, 1927 - October 18, 2005) was one of the most prominent sports announcers in San Francisco Bay Area history, widely recognized by his distinctive handlebar mustache and beard and his broadcasting catchphrase "Holy Toledo!":)
