My Own Boss
Hi Face,

It is indeed amazing what surgeons can do these days. Your friend will be up and running in no time.

I had a hip replacement two years ago due to my athletic activities and dancing. I wore the poor bugger out. What ecstacy it is not to have anymore pain.

Before my op, I spent hours and hours having Nerve Assists, Touch Assists etc. Spent huge amounts of money on scientologist chiropractors.

Finally, I went to see my doctor and the x-rays showed the extent of damage to my hip. Bone rubbing on bone.

It only took a couple of months after the op for me to resume my activities again. Amazing!

Re: Sidebar...I feel the need to rant about something

A big chunk of my walkabout has been helping someone go through and convalesce (as much as a brain damaged and ten thumbed nurse can help) from hip replacement surgery. Talk about Standard Tech…WOW! Hip replacement is incredibly precise, technical, mechanically extensive and mathematically complex. The basic design of the implant device has not change in over 30 years but the materials and techniques have evolved to where there are some hotshot Surgeons (like the one my friend had) that can do the whole job in a few hours with only a 4-5 inch incision and without cutting any muscles. My friend was able to stand (with assistance and support) 8 hours after the surgery. The healing process is long (at least 10-12 weeks) and it will be probably 12-14 months until the peak benefit is realized but already they are no longer suffering the striking, withering pain from the severely damaged arthritic hip socket they had.

I am humbled by the skill and kindness of the Surgeon and his team and the nursing staff at the hospital. These folks are highly competent, they care and they are dedicated. I am humbled by humankind’s instinct to aid and help the afflicted and ease the suffering of others with patience, professionalism and probity and facilities such as this particular one are truly one of the the houses of our better angels.

Which brings me to the point of this post.

My friend was never a Scio but is friends with one of the folks I know that’s still very much “in” and is one of the reasons for my anonymity on ESMB. A year or so ago my friend’s arthritic hip began to rapidly deteriorate and their lack of mobility began to steadily lessen and the chronic pain went from moderate to severe. Our mutual Scio friend’s solution was that my friend just needed Dianetics and Assists and offered to do “Book One” on them. When my friend declined to have any Scn practiced on them our mutual Scio friend contacted me (as I had the “better comm-line” and wanted me to do a PTS handling on my friend as they were “obviously PTS” and sent, unsolicited, all the “new” PTS and Assists packs that were free of all the “Mis Dups” and “Omitteds” of the past.

Now, I have received Scn Assist Processes that have been helpful and I have received some that were not helpful, and I have received some that actually made me feel worse and had PC results likewise as an Auditor. But, I have also had good results receiving and giving massage, traction adjustment, listening to narrative descriptions, just plain touching without repetitive commands and the “laying on of hands” so to speak. The power of a loving hand, caring touch and soothing words and benign “listening” is nothing new, and has been known about since before Humankind loincloths were fashionable and anyone that has been around animals some knows that they instinctively know of this force of nature.

Degenerative arthritis from genetic predisposition and over 3 decades as a professional athlete (as was the case with my friend) is not some simple injury that any Scn Assist or process, or any other therapy, is going to cure or rectify. What little pain might be relieved by any such therapies will shortly return, sometimes within minutes.

Likewise, the condition of my friend was not the result of being connected to a “present time SP” or some “case condition”. It happens to many professional athletes over 50 years old, including Jimmy Conners. There are only a few things that can be done to provide temporary relief; moist heat packs, limiting physical activity that involves the hips, supplements and herbs, maintaining appropriate weight, and pain medication…which is the most effective of all. The only way to “cure” the condition is surgery. The difference between an X-ray of an arthritically damaged hip and a healthy hip is dramatic and stark.

The pain a person in this condition experiences is striking, searing and withering. All controlled movement in athletics emanates frome the “core” and the foundation of the “core” is the hips and pelvis. The primary pain is from bone grinding against bone in the hip socket with every movement of the body that involves the hip. As the hip degenerates, the alignment of lower torso becomes skewed, which then creates further pain from improperly aligned stress force vectors to the sesamoid bones of the foot and knees. As the sesamoid stress increases, the outer calf and inner thigh muscles are placed under increasing stress that causes them to tighten up and cramp and become yet another source of pain. Finally, in the latter stages of hip degeneration, the stresses move into the lower back and then to the shoulders and neck. At this point, the pain throughout the body is sever and constant even when lying in bed and without pain and occasional sleep meds life becomes near unbearable and the idea that Scn Assists, PTS handlings and Book One Auditing are a true and proper therapy at this point is more than ludicrous--it is dangerous and inhumane, IMO.

Furthermore, the concept that a person that was genetically predisposed to this condition and spent a lifetime excelling in the studied, highly controlled and graceful use of their body--maximizing through discipline, focus and hard work the expression of physical gifts that a small fraction of folks are born with, for the enjoyment them self and entertainment, inspiration and instruction of others--“pulled it in” is vile and callous in the extreme.

But, sadly, that is the crux of the “Legacy” of “Ron, The Healer” and the crucible for “On Source” Scios, to wit; the dramatic “instant ‘cure’”, the rationalization of any failure to produce the dramatic “instant ‘cure’”, the disdain of the infirmed and ill and the blithe betrayal and arrogant abandonment of they that require and deserve real and actual, complete, intensive and effective 24/7 care.

All of Us have seen it, heard about it and/or been a party to the Scn deaf, blind and dumb “handling” of the ill and infirmed. We’ve all heard the grandstanding stories and claims of miraculous and instant “cures” of all manner of physical maladies from Assists and “OT Powers” and “Standard Tech”. And, all of Us know that in the Scn Community, when a someone becomes ill or infirmed they are isolated, rarely spoken of but in hushed, muted and dismissive terms and regged for every dime that they’ve got…and then every last dime they don’t got that can be got.

The day after my friend’s surgery I informed our mutual Scio friend that the surgery had been very successful and the Surgeon (who said on three seperate occaisions that my friend had been a “pleasure” to operate on due to their fitness, perfected anatomocal structure, Physical abilities and talent) gave a prognosis of a recovery of up to 85-90% of mobility and flexibility. That was 10 days ago and neither my friend, or I, have heard anything from our mutual Scio friend. Sadly, this to me is understandable--they’re just too busy and caught up in the “Wins” of Clearing the Planet” and content living a life blinded by the shroud of El Ron’s “Legacy”... helping to bring "Earth a civilization of which it can be truly proud”.

End of rant and I thank all Y’all for listening.

Face:)

Dear Face, I am replying with a quote so I can refer to all you said. Thankyou for writing this, I surprised myself and sat and bawled my eyes out. I am facing my 4th hip replacement surgery in the next weeks and no matter how I feel I have come to terms with the scio attitudes to this, there always seems to be another layer to the onion. So don't worry, it's a good thing to examine the issues before the event.

I have written my story on this here already so I won't go into detail. The part of your post that is so relevant is the scio attitude toward a genetically predisposed health matter. My original bilateral replacements were in 1990 when I was still in, and the best way to describe the attitudes around me is that I was ignored. What you can't see doesn't have to be 'handled' and I think that period is where I learnt my 'stoic face'. :duh: I was in such terrible agony back then, with both legs turned in the sockets, bone on bone, and yet I continued to work every day in the scio school and be a mother to 3 small kids.

The replacements were incredible and gave me a new lease on life, one lasted 14 years and the other has just failed at 21 years. As you say, the technology of it is brilliant and the most healing thing is gentle touch and support - and anticipation of what you may need from those around you. My whole posture is stuffed right now so knee replacements are also needed and when I can stand tall again no doubt my spine will not be under such strain. It's going to be an interesting year and I am blessed to have friends to help, as you have helped your mate.

So tell your friend that a new life does indeed begin now, and to hell with scientology's attitudes. That person is not actually a friend because they can't even see your mate! All they see is a "case", not a person.

Good on you, Free to Shine. I agree about the scientological dismissal of all things physiological and physical. Genetics just don't exist to them.

Hope all those hips out there that need replacing or are about to be replaced will be wiggling comfortably soon. :)

The Bird and the Director story was really hard to read. I can't imagine how hard it was to be there. That would be a time to try the soul of anyone.

Knowing that good intelligent people didn't either blow the whistle on him or go postal just demonstrates how completely difficult it is to oppose mass insanity such as Nazis, KKK, red scare, etc. True believing is easy to fall into.

When I read these kinds of stories, I always think of Uwe, the brother of our Marcus.

Rest in blessed, peace, Uwe. :console: I wish you had had the loving comfort of your family around you. :bigcry:

All most interesting.

Back when I was in, if ones parent died - uh nobody said anything....not a word. I remember a dear friend whose spouse ( very very in the upper parts of OT levels ) died suddenly and unexpectedly. Nothing much said to surviving spouse...just quiet murmors of who that person certainly must have had an unhandled PTSness going on for THAT to happen.

Or have someone in the family sick...so,,, check in on 'em every few hours but don't give a downstat much attention............ever.

Out for years now....I'm quicker to go to the doctor or the ER or call a fuckin ambulance for a family member.

Things change....... I ain't as utterly stupid now as I was back when I was in the cult.

Toady,

Glad to see you back on deck!

I'm with you on the idea of letting the guys who've got the right tech deal with what they know how to handle. Just got back from my annual dermatologist parade . . . better news than in years past :melodramatic: . . . . less skin removal! Keep writing my friend.

Ain't that the truth !

Face, so many times I have reflected on where I was and what I was doing when you you add your unique perspective to that time period and it melts away odd little mysteries that I had somehow tucked away unresolved.

When I come to ESMB the first thing I always liik for is a new post by Face.

Keep it up !

Dear all y’all,

I am nearing the terminus of my “walkabout”.

Although I have been reading “the board” and making a post here and there over the last month, I have been woefully remiss in responding to the heartfelt responses to my last post on this thread that “freshened the wind” in my face and “filled my sails” 5 weeks or so ago when I first read them and, for this, I sincerely apologize.

In about a week I will begin posting the final few installments of “Shooting Stars”. I’ve gotta few more things I want to say about my Scn era, the SO and Hisself .

Below, please find my responses to the replies to my last post of 12 June.

I love ESMB and what y’all put up here, day in and day out.

Thank you, Emma…thank you so much!

Face:)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi degraded being,

Sorry I am so late in reply to your post.

Sometimes…for some us (me included)...due to our Scn indoctrination it’s very difficult to seek opinion or treatment from a “Medico”. That foolishness nearly killed me.

Thank you for telling me about your friend.

I know, from personal experience, surgery is not an easy thing to face or go through…and can’t always “fix” everything 100%...but, it’s often the only alternative and the one thing that’s right and works better than anything else.

Face:)

Hi Smartone,

I apologize that I am so long in responding.

Bone rubbing on bone…very, very painful! As I watch my friend, day by day, get better and see the relief in their eyes as the pain of surgery subsides with no more pain in their hips I am truly amazed.

Thank you for sharing your story with me…it was very helpful indeed!

Face:)

Dear Free to Shine,

Thank you for this remarkably sincere reply and kindest words.

My apologies to you that I have not responded until now.

My friend is doing very, very well and is having a new lease on life…wonderful!

Thank you for telling your story…honest, forthright, real.

Without true friends we are all adrift, alone.

All I’ve been doing for the last 5 weeks or so is return to another, in some small measure, the kindness, caring and attention that was accorded to me by others when I was “left for dead”. I know that acute, chronic severe pain is withering and smothering.

I wish you well and that this year will see your posture stand as tall as the courage of your words has been to me and many others here on ESMB.

Face:)

Carmelo,

The “Bird and the Director” story was hard for me to write. Never would have done it without your encouragement and “presence” here on ESMB.

Thank you, my friend.

Face:)

Lurker5,

Yes!

When I first came to ESMB I read Uwe’s story.

Uwe’s story was one of the primary influences that, after 6 months of lurking, made me more than want to post here…it made me have to post here.

Face:)

Rog,

I’ll keep writing as long as folks like you keep reading my drivel.

You're the kind of folks I got into Scn to be around.

Face:)

Toady,

You just said a mouthful to me.

I’m still trying to melt “away odd little mysteries that I had somehow tucked away unresolved” for me, too.

That’s why I’ll “keep it up” for a little while longer.

You and so many others here have helped me a whole bunch.

Thanks Pal.

Well Face, the truth is, good folks leave each other feeling better and uplifted. That's how one can tell the good folks from the shitheads

I ran across this quotation the other day, and I thought it very appropriate here as I look at this thread and what has been written in it.

The quote in essence said: "What is important when you are with others is not so much what you do but how you make them feel."

That's from memory, and I can't for the life of me find it again or remember who was clever enough to write or say it :melodramatic:

But the point about how one makes other folk feel is a good thing to be aware of

Shooting Stars, Part Sixteen

“Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practise to deceive!”
Sir Walter Scott

As I have read the plethora of personal stories and recent accounts of the staggering stupidity, goofiness and maliciousness of the Cof$ and, in particular, the SO constantly evidenced here on ESMB, I am continually surprised--amazed actually--that the whole Flotilla of Fools has gotten as “far” as it has. In a recent PM with a friend here on ESMB, they commented pretty much the same thing and a “light bulb” in my head lit up…it’s because of F’n Fools like me. This Chapterof Shooting Stars was inspired by my PM’s with my fellow Ex Flag Crew Member…Thanks a whole bunch.

Shooting Stars, Part Sixteen

"Epilogue" cont

Face's Scn: Theory and Design of the Organization.

I was Cl IV Org Staff before the SO took over management from World Wide and when the SO came stomping in to take “command”. I was SO Crew when the CommodeDoor's Staff Aides, Flag Bureaux and GO WW were running the show and when CMO came stomping in to take “command”. Orgs, WW, SO, Staff Aides, FB, GO and CMO were all entities created by El Ron with specific policies, operating procedures and authorities granted and, ultimately in all, directed by Hisself.

El Ron was superbly masterful at “Bait and Switch”, “Shell Game” and “Finding the Scapegoat” con artist. As I and others much smarter than me have written, El Ron set up the system so that Hisself was “safe” from detection and protected of being “found out”. He could bait and switch, move shells and find the scapegoat easily and continually so that whatever happened that “flapped” externally or “blew up” internally was never attributable to Hisself. The “High Road” was “designed in” for El Ron to continually “save the day”.

El Ron’s SO as “Senior Management” of Hisself’s Monolithic Command & Control Organization Model was a sufficiently complex and convoluted systems that rendered any effective management near impossible. A continuous stream of new and rehashed Senior Management personnel (SMPs) were posted, roasted and busted. Some were “recycled” numerous times and others wound up in other Units, both on and off the Apollo.

The “beauty” of El Ron’s system was in the hidden simplicity of the avenue Hisself designed that ensured the CommodeDoor would always right, would never be wrong and would forever be the Hero and never the Goat. Although I have not been in an Org, or had anything to do with the Cof$ in over 20 years, I have high confidence that El Ron’s Minnie Me knows how to, and is playing, the same piano Hisself crafted and performed on. By actual function, SMP’s were unsuspecting “Strawmen”, “Empty Suits” and “Fall Guys”…not Managers. El Ron’s management “Road to Total Freedom” was what I’ll call the PENT-UP AVE, which consisted of the following key structural parts:

Programs
Enforcement
Nullification
Targets

Using/Abusing Staff
Pressure, Pressure, Pressure

Autonomous Networks and Units
Multiple Viewpoint Data System
Data Series Evaluation

During my tenure on the Apollo SMPs were not allowed to issue any orders or advice and most communication to any Org under them unless it was in accordance with an approved program target. All communications from SMP’s had to be approved by AVU (Authorization and Verification Unit), which was autonomous to the Programs Bureau, Aides and nearly everyone on the ship save El Ron and Mary Sue’s personal Units. All programs had to be from an AVU approved evaluation and conform to the Target Series. Evaluations were primarily done by the Evaluation Unit, the CommodeDoor’s Staff Aides and the Emergency Section of the Orgs Flag Officer Bureau. The perfunctory Senior to the Service Org Executive Directors was the Flag Programs Chief for that Org. In functional fact, the SMP’s management authority was neutered by the Autonomous Network Reps present in the Org.

The Flag Rep Network was there to hound and pound the Orgs Executive Director enforcing and verifying compliance to the Flag Programs and Orders. The FR’s had the authority to communicate directly to and hound and pound every individual staff member in the Org whenever they pleased on a Program Target. None of the FR’s had ever run and org and were, for the most part, much less competent than most of the folks they were authorized to browbeat incessantly.

I had one FR in one the CL IV Orgs I ran for awhile that actually threatened to do everything within their power to get my expelled and debarred from the Advance Courses forever because I refused to comply with a Flag Program target to focus on Body Routing to feed the Indoc Line. The fact that I had already done my own “Eval” and found that folks that had come in off of body routing were 10 times less likely to make it through the HQS Course and 15 times less likely to make it through the HSDC was lost on them…and Flag.

The LRH Comm Network was there to hound and pound the Orgs Executive Director enforcing and verifying LRH general and specific to that Org El Ron Orders.

The LRH Comm’s had the authority to communicate directly to and hound and pound every individual staff member in the Org whenever they pleased. Likewise, none of them had ever run an org and were, for the most part, more competent than the FR’s but not as competent as most of the Org’s Execs they were authorized and pester incessantly.

The Flag/Finance Banking Officer Network were, functionally, the real “heavies” amongst these three Networks. Their primary purpose was to get money to Flag. All Orgs had a “debt” to Flag for “Management Services and Support” that the Org Ed had no control over. Flag “Management Services and Support” were not discretionary budget items. Flag decided what and how much “Service and Support” that Org got and what the fee was for it. Money to Flag came off the top of the Orgs GI, at the sole discretion of the FBO. If an Org had a big GI one week, the FBO would cut out as big a chunk as possible and send it to Flag. As I have already written about earlier on ESMB, the lions share of Money to Flag went either to El Ron (for the “Debt” owed Hisself by the SO) or to Sea Org Reserves, which were controlled by El Ron and Marry Sue.

FBO’s were chosen, trained and drilled to be ruthless on the subject of Money to Flag. Money to Flag was everything…that’s why Flag sent proven money makers like Bill Franks on Garrison Missions to Major Orgs like LA and DC. It is out of this group of internal home grown Shylocks that the Finance Police were formed.

In addition to and outside of these Networks was El Ron’s Secret Police, the Guardians Office which, as we all know, was “taken out” for El Ron by Hisself’s CMO Children of the Corn during Scn's Kristallnacht.

The three SO Networks reported to Flag and the GO to GOWW. GOWW also forwarded many of the reports it received on to Flag. Besides mundane and routine compliance and inspection reports, the Networks also carried out routine, detailed defacto voyeuristic “Espionage” on every Staff Member in the Org, Key Public and Mission Holders. Scathing reports about numerous people were sent to Flag and “Dirt” and “Innuendo” was shared liberally between the local Networks Personnel and with visiting Flag Missionaries.

I came to realize that the reason all the Orgs were rife with all the reportedly "incompetent" ED’s, Execs and Staff and the Field was filled with “Crazies" and "Off Policy” Mission Holders was because, built into this complex bureaucracy, were side alleys provided to PENT-UP AVE so as to not have anything “bad” be their fault. All the respective Network personnel had to do was keep laying out the smokescreen on the avenue, ensuring that there were plenty of scapegoats pre-labeled. All up and down PENT-UP AVE folks were playing a continual “blame game”, “cover your ass" and “dazzle ‘em with bullshit” just in case the Stats went sour, which is what always eventually happened.

The SMP’s operated within the same type of system. Lakey, one of our fellow ESMBers served a stint on the Apollo as an SMP and the beginning of the “Apollo” Thread is his detailed narrative about his experiences as Flag Crew and an SMP, and he aptly termed the Flag Programs Bureau as a “Viper Pit”. Although all of the Networks and Senior Org Management was supposedly under the purview of the Flag Management Bureaux, The Commodores Staff Aides, LRH Pers Office and El Ron Hisself all had their fingers in the pie in one way or another.

Every day, day in day out, all across the Scn Empire, Program Targets from local Org, Regional and International Evaluations and various Programs were pressured and enforced on Orgs and individual Staff by SMP’s and Networks. Staff were used and abused ruthlessly and intentionally to get “Dones” on the Targets. In my direct experience at both the Org and SMP ends of the spectrum, most of the Evaluations and programs were not only ill conceived and faulty, they rapidly became out of date and inadequate to properly address the extant current “Scene” in the Org. What was foisted off by El Ron as “Checks and Balances” was in actuality “Checking" (as in Hockey) and “Tilting” (to ones favor).

Thusly, PENT-UP AVE was like the continuous cycle of a Boulevard in Mexico City over a 24 hour period. Traffic jams, horns blaring, people cussing and shouting and driving on the sidewalk, innocent pedestrians scrambling, and sirens blaring as police cars and scarce ambulances charged hither and dither. And then, out of the blue El Ron, The Management Genius would ride up on Hisself’s white horse to save the day.

You see, folks, El Ron commanded a singular ability that no other SMP, nor anyone else in Scn, possessed. With the flash of Hisself’s silver pen El Ron could; Remove, Promote and Post anyone, anywhere at anytime and musical chair any Org, anywhere at anytime; supersede, cancel or re-issue any Evaluation, Program, Order by anyone, anywhere at anytime--including Hisself; Set Aside, Violate or Ignore any Policy in any form or fashion Hisself so chose; Command all involved with that Org to focus on Hisself’s immediate orders and edicts and nothing else. All without any approval or oversight nor "Check and Balance".

Of course the stats went up over the short term and, if they didn’t, heads rolled and/or Missions fired in until they did. And, for awhile, the "traffic cleared" and moved along PENT-UP AVE as the random wreckage and carnage was hauled off to the repair shop or the junk yard with a few folks winding up in ill-equipped and poorly staffed hospitals, a few in savage, rat infested jails and, all too often, there a few were goners.

From what I have read here and elsewhere, Scn is still on the road down PENT-UP AVE, with Hisself’s Minnie Me wearing the CommodeDoor’s soiled skivvies.

My Heart goes out to all my fellow F’n Fools that traveled that road or are on it now.

In a week or so,

Shooting Stars, Part Seventeen
