While I was grocery shopping today, I overheard a conversation between a couple that sent me into a belly laugh, the likes of I have not had for far, far too long...

A man was telling his wife (I surmised as they both had rings on) that he had a talk with Jaime about 'Scientology' Jaime told him about Xenu, the 'God' of the 'Freezer Zone' that he got in an email from his friend.... pause- (THIS IS THE FUNNIEST FUCKING THING I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!!... my gut is splitting!!! ) -play- He pronounced Xenu as 'EX - ENUU'... -pause- (OK gut split #2... !!!!!!!!!!   ) -play- so he explained that he had searched the 'net' to figure out what the hell he was talking about.. and found out that 'EX-ENU' was actually 'an inner secret of Scientology', and was like a devil that is worshipped in the cult Scientology, written L Ron Hubbard!!!!!!!!!!!!! (OK- I can't stop laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that the 'freezer zone' was actually the 'free zone'... that looks like one of many Scientology front groups.....

(OH SHIT... life is good! I must have 'pulled this in'!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought to go tell them more about it but really..... his 'take' was better than anything that I had ever heard!

Thank God for WOGS!!!!!!

Wow.....we ARE IMPINGING on this society!

But now that you mention it, it IS kind of cold in here....:)

Wow. He sounds like an idiot.

Scientology is freak show and viewed as such the the vast majority of the population.

What is there? ... maybe 50,000 people on the planet that take Scientology seriously? ... and 50,000 is even a stretch when you combine what's left of the freezone and official cult.

Very funny story. I disagree and don't think the guy was dumb. Not having been there (though I wish I'd been a fly on the wall) I'd give the benefit of the doubt that all these terms were new for this guy and hadn't a clue and was just trying to make sense and couldn't. And of course he couldn't -- anyone not indoctrinated probably couldn't. If Stephen Colbert ever picks up on the topic again I think this exchange would be great fodder for his writing team.

Hilarious! I love hearing those who have never been in trying to explain it - tickles me every time.

Dear Fluffy!

Wow. He sounds like an idiot.

You calling someone an "idiot" is so unlike you!
You demand that others show courtesy and understanding when confronted by something they see posted which they disagree with.
Can we expect "wogs" to really understand OT3?

All of which illustrates how easily people misinterpret such material. :whistling:

They're not a front group: they ARE a scientology group, a group of people practicing their idea of what Scientology is or should be. They make no bones about it, there is no deception, they practice their idea of Scientology.

It's all relative, I'm sure most members of al Qaeda think Americans are idiots too because we do not understand all the intricacies of the reasoning behind why they feel the need to strap on bombs and run into crowds or fly into buildings.

He sounds like an idiot because he got a lot of stuff wrong. I know plenty of people who absolutely loathe Scn who don't sound like idiots. THIS guy sounds like an idiot.

99.9% of the population could not care less it they get their facts right regarding Scientology, they are not the idiots, we are.

We are the idiots who waste their time bothering to get the facts right about Scientology.

It's not idiocy to get your facts straight about something with which you have involvement or have had involvement. The world at large is coming to an awareness that Scientology is a dangerous cult because people like us work out how and why this is true and report on it. As responsible citizens, it is practically our duty to respond and alert the public to a danger that we have become aware of.
