Re: Proofs and Evidence

And some people still have their entire thinking processes completely wrapped in scientology and, as such, are not only uncomfortable not ensconced in scientologese but completely unable to express any thought in what ( they feel ) is a coherent manner unless it is laden with cult buzz words.

They will shout at the top of their kungs until their dying day " Long live Hubbard " ! and never have a clue how dreadfully tiresome they have become to what were ( once) their friends.

Geez, Toady, I agree that it is pitiful for some people to still have their entire thinking processes completely wrapped up in scientology. What a curse it must be to be uncomfortable if one is not ensconced in scientologese and unable to express thoughts in a coherent manner unless it is laden with cult buzz words.

Anyone who shouts at the top of their lungs to their dying day, "Long live Hubbard" and doesn't have a clue how dreadfully tiresome they have become, even losing friends because of this inane behavior, is really in bad shape.

You make some good points here and express them beautifully!! Keep up the good work!

Lakey,

It was a joke. Also, I'm an ex and I use Sciontologese all the time on here...it's fun! I had completely been out of it and away from it and picked it back up reading and posting here. Who knows about any factuality on "As-isness" as a premise. I like Uniquemand's response - reminds me of an interview of Timothy Leary.

Perhaps a non-dualistic enlightenment/ego-death is factual.

Well, you don't stand out as being pro Hubbard. If you don't appear to be pro Hubbard, you will most likely be left alone, using a little scientologese here and there.

Now, if you appear in the eyes of certain people, to have some vestige of pro Hubbardism still extant, then you will not be left alone if you use Scientologese. When I say, some vestige of pro Hubbardism, I am refering to some bits of Hubbard's tech.

A person may detest most of Hubbard's activities and detest C of S Orgs but if that person claims that they got something out of some piece of Hubbard's tech, say they liked TR0 or TR2 or the ARC triangle or claim that Objective Processes improved their perception a little, then such persons are attacked when they use scientologese.

The people who attack for these transgressions, such as saying that a TR helped one in life are not bad people, in fact some of the finest people on ESMB feel this way. Their goal is altruistic. They just don't want to see any brand new people brought into Scientology, whether it be the C of S, the Freezone or the Independent field.

If someone who has reasonable communication skills and seems rational touts a piece of Scientology, the "true exes" as I call them, fear that some new people will be hooked in and may undergo pain and be harmed as a result.

These 'true exes" feel that anything workable which Scientology has in it can be found in other mental or spiritual studies for much less money and without all the total "bullshit" involved in signing up with the official "Church". They fancy themselves as protectors of the innocent and to a degree, that is their main intent. They are "on guard" nobly attempting to ensure that no new people fall prey to Scientology, in any form including the Freezone or the Independent Field.

I like these people and admire their basic goal. The only negatives in all this as far as I can see is that Freedom of Speech is abridged a bit, though not drastically, and also there is no exception made if a person does not agree with their views.

These people also make a worthwhile point. If one had wins from some portion of Hubbard's tech, don't talk about it on certain portions of ESMB, i.e. threads where they have domain. They say, go talk it over on the the Freezone threads, et al.

Anyhow, that is why I did not use the word "as-is" a few posts back. I don't have any bone to pick with these people. I like them, admire them and agree strongly with about 80% of their positions. On those other 20% where we do not agree, I fought them tooth and nail on those points in March and April of this year until there was simply no more to be said. There is no need to fight that battle again so I comply with their wishes and do not use scientologese in my posts on the threads where they participate. No big deal. Its all good!

Re: Proofs and Evidence

When I hear the word “E-meter” I wanna puke. But when I hear the words “2D” I get erection. Scientology girls used to call me “2D” because of my looks, I suppose.

Amen! When I remember I have one of those things sitting under my desk unopened for over 20 years ................ and what I paid for it ! PUKE !

"2D" always chapped me and I so wanted to say " No. That person is NOT your 2 D. They are a TERMINAL on your 2 D "

Never ceased to amaze me that people who so completely devoted their life to that stuff so even on the most basic levels just really really did NOT understand it at all.

And, Jesus, SO staff was worst of all at NOT understanding scientology!

Looks like to devote the best part of ones life or the best part of the money one could earn they would at least understand the subject...............but...................
no such luck.

Guanoloco, I like your last sentence above!!

Hatsehput's comments about 10 or 12 days ago started me looking into this area. Prior to that I had not even considered it.

It would appear certain that if a person's viewpoint is as-ised, all their mental pictures, their mental bric a brac and their identitites will be permanently nulled out.

That would appear certain, but maybe it is not. A composite of that being's identities, ego and beingness would be left behind in the physical universe in the pictures of all the other beings which interacted with this being. Those other beings could at least partially reconstruct what made the now as-ised being tick. Any other souls whom this being gave life to would also remain behind as evidence of that being's existence and it is likely that they would manifest some of it's traits.

Maybe more is left of the deconstructed being than that. My gut instinct tells me "yes" but I am just guessing.

This leads one into the subject of what constitues life force. Is life force or "elan vital" uniform or are there potentials for individual personality traits in raw, pure static?

That is probably a topic for another thread or perhaps, as has been suggested, another religion. How about "Find your natural personality in 'Personalitology"!

I liked your post except for the very last portion of it where you talk about the "life force". Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this notion was introduced by Lamark. Later it was discarded as unscientific.

When I use the term "life force" I am just refering to pure spirit, soul, the life static, or what Vinnaire has referred to as Brahma, or infinite life potential. Bergson was the one who coined the term "elan vital". To me, that term does not carry a lot of baggage with it.

é·lan vi·tal [ ay ln vee tl ]
creative life force: according to the philosophy of Henri Bergson, a creative life force present in all living things and responsible for evolution.

Hubbard's term, "static" works perfectly for what I am trying to express, but once again I am avoiding using scientologese. Soul is colored by Christian definitions of the word. Spirit means different things to different people. Not very many Westerners, including myself, have a full understanding of the term "Brahma"

Elan Vital, "creative life force" seemed to be the least offensive term to use. If not that, then I would go with soul and if not that, then I would go with "life static".

As the saying goes, "You takes your pick and then takes your chances."

Here is some more data which I picked up from Vinnaire's 2009 "Oh God!!" thread. These are my own interpretations of what Vinnaire said. They are paraphrased and might not be exactly what he says but I put them in a form which I understand.

A couple more things about this infinite life force.
1. Being infinite, it can spin off other independent life forces without any diminishment of its size.

2. Those spun off, also have the power to spin off life force from themselves.

3. If infinite life force spins off another life force, space must be created. There must be a space between two entities, otherwise they would be the same entity.

Some more of Vinnaire's pearls of wisdom which impressed me.

"God" is always "Cause", the creator of things.

"Man" can be either "Cause" or "Effect" depending on the circumstances.

God contains all viewpoints, i.e. an infinite number of viewpoints.

Man has only one viewpoint. If man wishes to become more Godlike, he needs to see things from more and more viewpoints. The more viewpoints which one can duplicate, the more "Godlike" one becomes.

Corollary to the first statement about God. None believers, attempting to shoot down the concept of God always ask, "Who created God." By definition, "God" is The Creator and therefore is not created. God is outside of the time stream and just "is". In this paradigm, asking who created the Creator is not a viable question.

Well, as you have shown, there is more than one definition of life force -- this is something I was not aware of (kind of hard to admit my ignorance) As long as physical properties of life force are stated, the definition of is valid, from my standpoint.
I like your comment about "creation of God", I hold similar point of view.

Wouls appear " life force " or " elan vital " seems to be the opinion of the person suggesting the definition.

I bet we all understand 'opinions' and what they are - LOL !

I have an opinion, therefore I am?

Vow, a new Voltaire! I like it. "I think, therefore I am" was a pretty brilliant and astute remark but you are taking it a step further. Not just thinking some idle thought, you dare to have an opinion. That makes it even more true that your "are" than just mere thinking does!!

Take that question mark off of the end of your quote! You've got a real winner there.

Of course, that is just my opinion.

In the beginning or before the beginning?

This is a beautiful concept of "In the beginning." I believe that Hubbard made a brilliant remark in the preface to his "The Factors" and that was that consideration had to be given to something called, "Before the Beginning" Now if you can come up with a video or graphic representing that, I think you would cause everyone to blow out of their heads!

You know, an excellent example of the "In the Beginning" term and the "Before the Beginning term" is a corporation.

If you do an "In the Beginning" then you would see a Director and some Officers of the Corporation opening the door to the Corporate Offices on a given day, say July 1, 2011.

The questions to ask are:
Who appointed the Director to be the Director?
Where did the officers come from, i.e. who appointed them?
How did the Corporation aquire those offices?

You see, the corporate documents state that the Corporation's existence will commence at 9:00 AM on July 1, 2011 but how could a Director, Officers and an Office already exist before that moment in time.

This brings the discussion to the concept of "Before the Beginning. In truth, all times before 9:00 AM on July 1, 2011 don't exist as far as the corporation is concerned. All times before that time are equivalent as far as the corporation is concerned, be it one million years earlier or just 10 minutes earlier. No corporate time existed before that moment so all earlier times are legally equivalent for that particular corporation.

Obviously, before the beginning there was no corporate time but the groundwork for the corporation had to be decided prior to the corporation's inception. Prior to inception, there was a potential director, potential officers and potential shareholders and public. A decision had to be made to bring all this potential into existence.

This corporate analogy works out very well when one is considering the start of the physical universe.

Re: Thanks for pointing this out!

Thanks for pointing this out FoTi, I now vaguely remember attending this event. Over 31 years, as both staff and public, one is told so many things that sometimes one knows that he has heard something but just can't remember where.

Also FoTi, your posting of the snip from "Hymn of Asia" is good posting!! I guess Mark Baker did not read that passage when he posted that as far as he knew, LRH never claimed to be Buddha. Still Mark's point remains that Metteyya was a student who studied under Buddha and was not Buddha himself.

LRH is claiming to be both beings reincarnated at the same time. How would that work? Would one being be LRH's ego while the other would be a BT hanging out in LRH's space?

Maybe that is why LRH's case got all stirred up. Maybe he was a reincarnation of Metteyya and Buddha was a BT in his space. When he and Mayo were developing NOTS, Buddha got run out by mistake. LRH was so upset that Mayo did not have him check first if he wanted to keep that being that LRH banished Mayo to the RPF, even though Mayo had just saved his life. (BTW - this last paragraph is done completely in jest).
Lakey

There's also the History of Man tapes, where he said you could be running two bodies or more at any given time and not know it.... oy. So, he COULD have been Metteyya and Buddha at the same time... I think he also might have hinted about Scientology being started by him elsewhere in the universe at the time with another body. Hard to recall that part. So much brainwashing makes the memories a bit dim.
