Hey! That's my idea!

ObamaCare can be funded by reducing medical care standards to 1950 levels. No more costly modern drugs. No more MRI's, CAT Scans, sonograms, etc. No open heart surgeries, liver transplants, etc. I think it can be done!

If the 1950 standard does not work we can go to 1900s. Sooner or later everyone will be able to receive the same level of care at a cost-effective rate.

The money saved can be put into natural foods, no GMOs, etc. Then we will have true healthcare as opposed to disease care which is what we now have.

Ya. Back in my day we were lucky to acquire one of those rockets you fill with water. Pump some air in to pressurize the container, then cut it loose. It would go about 60 feet in the air on a good day.

Central planning could almost work when the set of products that could be produced was small. It came apart when things became too complex for any sort of central planning to work.

In complex systems, the key to workability is decentralization and allowing decision-making to happen at a lower level.

Actually lakey you've got that exactly @ss-backwards. The government does NOT control what goes IN. The manufacturer's & producers of food tend to put in those "additives" as a result of "cost effective free market economic forces". The role of government through the FDA is to limit how much of that crap winds up in the food supply.

Thanks to the co-option of the american political system by "free market" forces operating in a spirit of "de-regulation", the effectiveness of the FDA at protecting the nation's food supply has been greatly reduced.

Note the revolving doors. Experts from Monsanto moved to the FDA to approve their products. Probably genetically modified stuff. Once approved they went back to Monsanto, and probably have a secure tenure at Monsanto when they retire.

The "revolving door" effect happens all over government, with regulatory agency staff becoming lobbyists for the companies they regulated, generals going to work for defense contractors, Social Service execs becoming consultants for grant applicant groups, etc, etc. It's one of the fringe benefits of federal employment.

Ethics particle sent me this rehearsal of an aria from Mozart's Magic Flute which premiered on Sept 1, 1791 one year after that other opera, The Philosopher's Stone which I posted showing an aria written by F.X. Gerl. The cast of the two operas the Philosopher's Stone and the Magic Flute were the same. F.X. Gerl premiered the role of Sarastro in the Magic Flute. Three months after the Magic Flute premiered, Mozart died unexpectedly of some illness which he picked up in November of 1791, he was only 35 yrs. 10 months.

Don't have any crystal glasses around your room if you play this because the notes are high enough and strong enough to shatter glass.

Hats, Puleaze check this video out. Cecilia Bartoli of Italy is an incredible singer with and incredible beingness and space. She sings the Hallelujah chorus by Mozart, not Handel. Mozart wrote this as a very young man of 17 in 1773!!

Cecilia is world class and the type of female performer which I know you will like and identify with. She shows what highs can be achieved through singing. Her tone level while singing is way up there, very high! Check it out!
This is the ne plus ultra of clasical music in my opinion, as good as it gets.

With one codicil, that writer repeats himself, redundantly, over and over.
This was a tour de force presentation of a concept that I have never heard quite that way before. It fits my idea of genius, which is seeing the obvious, that everyone else has missed.

We have honeybees in our backyard. Ever since we got them, I have been extremely conscious of any chemicals that I spray on any of our trees or bushes.

I used to love seeing the fireflies in our relatives' lawns in Ohio. Then they started using pre emergence weed killer on their lawns. No more fireflies.

Mankind can be so stupid and willful.
