Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973
Maybe this is something that might perk your interest. I know of some LRH lectures where he went down this path. They're really interesting and memorable for me.
". . . there is no such thing as a mental image picture."
. . .
"So we do have one improper word in Scientology and that is facsimile. I don't know what we'd call it -- call it a thinnie, I guess.
All it is necessary to do is to bring one into a state of mind himself whereby he is willing to confront those pictures--thinnies, old universes, old places where he wouldn't be before. All we've got to do is put him up into a state of mind, either by confronting them or by some other artificial means whereby he's willing to confront them, and we have a Clear. Boom!"
5707C15 Theory and Definition of Auditing (last minutes of tape)
and this one too:
5708c01 Thinnies (the whole tape)
Both are in 18th ACC (Illusion or Truth cassettes). I remember the first tape was on the older Class 4 and 6 checksheets. The second lecture is a really interesting slant on what auditing might actually be and how it works.
Generally, he speaks about how every moment that has ever happened still exists as it was and has just grown "thin." We, ourselves, "thin" the moments by our unwillingness to look at them. But they're all still sitting there, just thinner. And we plaster and leave our viewpoints as we go. Auditing is reclaiming those viewpoints, in a sense.
The lectures go into a lot more detail about all this. Worth as visit if you're interested in this line of theory.

Thanks, IL2L. I believe that I heard the first of the two tapes you are writing about, probably around 2007.
Thinking a bit more about time being postulated as a means for us to gain separation from unwanted events, many of us seem to have a vast amount of interest in the subject.
Without time, there is no movement. Maybe a being can postulate a change of scene without time passage occuring. However, once the concept of "prior" comes about, "prior" and "after" mandate the concept of time.
Maybe, initially, there can be a scene change with no flow of time occuring. A being changes its scenery from A to B. There was no time passage in A and there is no time passage in B. The being's scenery is now B and the being does not automatically remember scene A. Of course, the being
could remember scene A if it wanted to. Even if the being "remembers" A, time probably does not have to exist. It is only when the concept emerges that A was prior to B or vice versa, does time seem to enter in.
To have a time flow there must be a continuous movement between an observer and one or more other objects
Without time, it appears difficult to get away from unpleasant scenarios. Probably the only way to do it would be to reduce perception or consciousness. With a permanently flowing time stream, unpleasantries can move away from a being without the being itself moving. If this was the way that things were set up, beings would probably not have "cases".
One's "case" seems to enter in because beings appear to make and hold on to recordings of every instant of their beingness. If, beings are not actually recording pictures, as you are suggesting (based on LRH's 1957 lectures), then a being in this universe could be looked at as being 4 dimensional, with time being the 4th dimension, much in the mode of Einstein's model.
