You've a whale of a tale to tell us Joe, a whale of a tale or two about the flappin fish and the girls you've kissed and the talk of love with the moon above, I swear by my tatoo.
My thread is called, "The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973". Yours is "The Real Old Days aboard the Avon River - !967 wasn't it." You know, usually new people on ESMB post their personal stories on their own thread. But if you prefer posting here, please continue doing so. You are an exciting writer and your story drips of brine and swashbuckling deeds. You have given us some insights as to the develoopment of the Sea Org philosophy and how it got started and got slanted the way it did. We'd love to have you tell more of your whate of a tale here and you would have high readership and be amongst friends. Speaking of friends, have you hooked up with Dart Smohen yet, your historyies are similar, surely you know each other, right?

A Modest Proposal
They're rioting in Africa. They're starving in Spain. There's hurricanes in Florida, and Texas needs rain.
The whole world is festering with unhappy souls. The French hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Poles.
Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch. And I don't like anybody very much!
But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud, for man's been endowed with a mushroom-shaped cloud.
And we know for certain that some lovely day, someone will set the spark off... and we will all be blown away.
They're rioting in Africa. There's strife in Iran. What nature doesn't do to us... will be done by our fellow man.
Business is down. Some are out of work. Some are under employed. The IRS is knocking on some doors.
May I suggest that we organize a monthly coffee klatch in LA
NOT FOR BEATING UP THE Co$
BUT
for networking, creating relationships, finding OR CREATING job opportunities, some coffee shop auditing, some schmoozing, for singles - hitting on one another, for upgrading each of our standards of living.
I thought Denny's on Alvarado by Mac Arthur Park.
Then I thought of a friend's gallery at Rose Ave. and Ocean Front Walk in Venice.
Another thought was the Glendale Galleria or Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga or Newport Beach or Malibu
having some space (like next to the ocean) would be nice.

The funnest part about this is that it is an always changing, never ending and constantly expanding practice!
My laptop battery went to sleep before I got to post an edit of my earlier post, but I wanted to extrapolate further on the snowman building analogy and say; if we are the snowman builder and our spiritual teammates are the kids, why on earth would we want to shoo them away, deprive them of a fun time and growth experience in creative cooperation and expansion of self esteem and self awareness? If we love and respect them as fellow free spiritual beings exploring their own journey of evolving consciousness? :confused2:
I outraged members on one thread about BT's by saying that mine were all harmless (or they are not permitted to hang around me) and they just wanted to cuddle! I was making a bit of a joke out of it, but really, it's largely the Truth of my experience of my team mates. Think mates in the Aussie sense of the word... Why wouldn't I welcome all friendly, helpful, interesting beings into my sphere of influence? Both those who are more and less experienced, advanced or evolved than my own consciousness is? Wouldn't it be lonely???
Maybe this is the schoolteacher's model of the Universe, Reality and Beingness, that we exist to learn how to play together (which is really co-creating the Universe together) nicely, to learn and grow together with love and joy.
I do think Ron got this wrong, and the upper level Scientologists are working away at something that is actually harmful to themselves and others. Fortunately, many of the rest of us are also working to help free all beings who perceive themselves as being trapped, by something...and we have all of eternity to work this out, both here and hereafter.
So nobody panic!

I got a group of us together at Peets on Montana in Santa Monica five years ago. You are the "Johnny come lakely" to the LA social scene.

Carmelo - On the word Fabian, my only exposure to the word was through reading Sea Org policies. I thought it meant moving around secretely, not out in the open, showing up unexpectedly thus giving an impression of being greater in number than what you were. Ron wanted this trait of Sea Org members. I don't remember ever looking it up. I had no idea that it applied with mainly enemies. but that it could be applied to friends too. Perhaps I had too little of the true definition and used it incorrectly. I just meant one could never know when you would or would not show up. No big deal.
On the social scene, I'm sure you did all the things which you state and several of the people I have talked to have met you personally. I have never met you but I am aware you were active in the L.A. scene at various times, I am not aware of saying or even implying otherwise. Its really none of my business what you do in your social life. I have asked you in PM's if you might attend various events because I wanted to meet you and your repsonses were not yes or no's so I thought you were being a little elusive in being pinned down. If you are that is your business. Well, you answered the question in your post above.
My "social" presence on the L.A. scene has low stats but the stat is rising. All the years I was active in C of $ I went to most of the events and stuff at the Shrine, etc. and had a small circle of freinds. I've never been a real big happening on any social scene other than family get togethers. Well, here on ESMB, I decided to finally give it a try. Big deal, I went to the Many's Xmas party as my first event, then a small New Year's Gathering as the 2nd thing and then the event at the Steve Allen Theater last Friday and now we have a small brunch meeting of 6 or 7 people set for this Saturday. Its fun, the stat is going upwards, I am likeable and can talk on a lot of subjects but being extremely popular and charismatic, that would be an uphill battle for me and I am not even interested in being like that. If I have fun, meet a couple of new friends and acquaintances and add a little interest to other people's lives and my own then that is great. I have no aspirations to be a super star socially. My best shot would be doing a stand up comedy shtick which I probably would be good at but my Brother was way better than me at that and so is HELLUVA HOAX so why be second or third best.
I think all of us in our coffee clatch and brunch bunch either want to meet you or see you again. We have talked of driving to where you are at a future date so please bear with us if we all want you to show up at a meeting. I will let Sweetness make the arrangements since she has much better people skills than me.

The lions, Elks, Rotary, etc are all organized to enable networking.
In this economy, there are those of us with skills, who need work / money. There are others of us with businesses that need some more ummphh.
This just seems like a logical way to get everybody moving just a little faster.
Mark, if you could post this idea to BB's list, and any other that you think of, it would be good.
The idea is simple, no case on Coffee Klatch, just come to enjoy one another, make connections, reaffirm friendships. Help one another's businesses grow and prosper. In the LA / So Cal area.

For anyone who wants to meet the "Great and Powerful Oz" oops, I mean me. We're going to be at the Whale Fest, Clam Chowder Tasting, and Wine Festival in Mendocino on March 5,6, and 7. We do this every year.
We'll be staying at Aunt Jess's house (a B & B).
Actually, we hope she won't be there. People always seem to end up dying when she's around.

Excellent suggestion.
Somewhere near a metrorail station would be best. That adds options and makes it easier for those commuting from in or out of the LA area to avoid traffic, parking, etc.. All day fare is 5 bucks, which is itself less than parking in much of LA. The "Red Line" hits a lot of recreational & Central areas around LA.
Metrolink connects to OC, San Bernadino, & Riverside counties giving options to residents of those areas also.
