Is there any significance/connection between the name Apollo of the ship and the Apollo Space program?

No, not really. I just happened to work at both places. As it turned out, that fact may be responsible for sending more people here from Google searches. People may Google something to do with the Apollo moon program and since there is some connection between me and that Apollo program, the search engine may send people here who aren't looking for anything to do with ex Scientology.

BTW, there is also an Apollo theater in Harlem. Too bad I didn't ever go there. If I had and had mentioned it on ESMB, maybe even more people would be misdirected here.

Hitler was not the reason for WW-2 - it was only the justification. The reason was (a) that no one could keep pace with Germany's scientific and industrial expansion and they wanted to push her down into the mud once and for good, and (b) that Germany was not playing ball with the Rothschild financial empire-building program.

So even without Hitler the war would still have happened.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Voltaire is always interested in those odd details, such as the fact that when stats are up or even when they threaten to be up people believe they are optimally happy and prosperous....there is something about flowing wine that suspends disbelief and leads to an exuberant confidence. He thanks you for reminding him of this exuberance. The nice thing about wine is that for centuries it allowed one to avoid the ugly consequences of drinking water straight and getting quite sick as a consequence.

I didn't intend to say anything about stats in my post which you quoted. I spoke of two ratios, one which would determine what percentage of earnings a government would have to tax it's citizens to optimize its income. The other ratio had to do with tracking new births as compared to new deaths. In fact, I was trying to hold both of these ratios at their current rates or lower them. The rates would not be compiled every Thursday at 2:00 PM but would be figured once a year or perhaps once every 3 or 6 months. The goal would be to keep the stats the same so the population would remain constant or reduce the ratios if a country was considered to be over populated.

I am humbled that Voltaire thanked me. What a thrill to receive a thank you from such a great being. I think there is a Spanish expression which conveys my sentiments better than any English phrase. In Spanish, the saying is "Favor de me hace." The best English translation I can come up with is, "You honor me too much." As a Spanish speaker, do you think this translation is accurate? if so, would you please forward it to Voltaire.

I like your comments about wine and water in Voltaire's time. Straight water in those days of yore, Ugh, not fit to drink in most cases.

I do believe it also had to do with other countries beating out Germany in the Colony Game.....pretty much world wide...and the debt burden from WW I placed upon Germany....

Edited to add.......But come on Leon, these type of Fantastical Statements are soooo.....Out There.....

IMHO YOUR STATEMENT IS FANTASTICALLY INACCURATE, PERHAPS THE MOST OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT WHICH I HAVE EVER READ!!! I do not want to debate it with you or anything like that. It would be something like debating whether people needed to breath oxygen to keep their bodies alive. If you really believe what you wrote above, you have every right to do so. Good luck to you and go in peace!

Good points Leland, and you are a German, I believe. All one has to do is read Hitler's book, "Mein Kampf", written in the mid 1920's, 15 years before WWII started. Hitler's total program was outlined thoroughly in that book. He laid out his goals there and made superhuman efforts to attain those goals which he outlined in his book.

Who would have led Germany to WWII had not Hitler done it. Goebles, Goering, Hess, Borman, his top officials were all depraved and none of them had great leadership potential. The only man in his inner circle with any kind of leadership potential who made any sense was his architect, Albert Speer, who eventually became the head of armaments production. I believe that Speer and Goebles were the only two in his inner circle who had a University education. Goebles was a PR expert, probably one of the best who ever lived but he looked ugly, had a clubbed foot and had no charisma, Goering was intelligent and a WWI hero as a pilot but he was taking drugs and was hung up on collecting art works and living in the lap of ultra luxury. He was not about to risk his luxurious life style and start a war. Speer was extremely intelligent but was basically a peace loving man and a good person. He was not a flashy speaker like Hitler but he could have done a good job running Germany. Speer was a man of peace and there's no way on Earth that Speer would have ever started a war!!

I agree with you Leland about the other countries beating out Germany in the Colony Game and the debt burden from WW I, also the way Germany was promised things by President Woodrow Wilson but Wilson was not able to fulfill the promises he made to Germany at the close of WWI. All those items did set the table for WWII, but no leader other than Hitler, had the balls to whip up German willingness for another war and rearm them and then actually start another war.

Gosh, what a foofaraw.

I said he was the justification, not the reason. In other words I'm saying that if other countries had been able to keep pace with Germany in Science and Technology AND if the Germans had co-operated with the Rothschild plan in their monetary policies then, as horrible as the Nazis were, Britain would not have declared war on them. Neither would any of the other countries who followed Britain's lead. France would not have been invaded. Belgium and the Netherlands would have stayed neutral. Russia would still have caught it in the neck and the entire war (not equal to WW-2) would have been with the eastern countries and the western ones - who in any case were not nearly ready for any war - would have kept themselves aloof and said "not our business".

Remember the entire 1st WW was done because while Britain was occupied with the war in South Africa and was economically at a standstill, Germany was shooting ahead in Science and Tech and with those two strong cards in hand things were shaping up for the 20th to be Germany's century. Britain was totally over-extended in her empire and would have withered economically.

WW-1 and the Versailles trap reduced Germany to nothing. When the Germans threw that out and surged back into the forefront technologically and industrially so rapidly Britain trembled. Now the job would have to be done again, and so we got WW-2.

If it hadn't been for this huge resurgence, this demonstration of the inner strength of the German people, then Britain and the west would have hummed and ha'd and made noises all over the place, but they would not have gone to war about it.

Double face palm. Not you too. I had enough of the anti-Semite one world order banking conspiracy theory silliness with Arnie and Mystic trolling that garbage. Your painting of history, in particular WW 2 is skewed with brushstrokes that aren't even hitting the canvas.

First off no one was interested in Germany's technological advances because at the beginning of WW 2 they didn't exist yet except conceptually in the minds of their scientists and their programs were closely guarded secrets that didn't mature until it was too late. Namely the V1 & V2 rocket programs, Tiger 2 tanks and jet aircraft. Hitler wasted enormous resources, manpower and money bringing his Vengeance weapons to fruition built on the backs of sadistically treated slave labor. Those weapons programs weren't unveiled until the last year of WW 2. It wasn't until the final days of WW 2 in Europe the Allies were able to procure German scientists and their research with working models.

Secondly Hitler was a charismatic sociopath bent on world domination and revenge biting off chunks of Europe (appeasement with Sudetenland and Austria) as he could before openly invading Poland. France and England had treaties with Poland so they were obligated to declare war on Germany when Poland was Blitzkrieged. The U.S. under the Neutrality Act through Isolationism didn't want to be involved in another European war. Through the Lend Lease Act the U.S. was selling supplies and material to what was to become Allied countries and governments on a cash only basis until the end of WW 2. The Neutrality Act and Isolationism went out the window when the Japanese ambushed Pearl Harbor.

Thirdly, Germany, Japan and Italy made a Pact of mutual cooperation and defense while they were bent on their Axis power trip of conquering the world so it was inevitable WW 2 was going to happen.

Leon, well at least this explanation of yours makes some sense. Most of the events which you mentioned took place but IMO, there is still no way to eliminate Hitler as the cause of WWII.

Hitler dismantled the Wiemar republic after being elected. He won a majority in the German parliament, the Reichstag, and outlawed all other political parties and declared himself Fuhrer, or Supreme Leader. One interesting thing which no one has mentioned so far is Mussolini in Italy. Mussolini, set the precedent for Hitler to follow. Mussolini had declared himself Il Duce, supreme leader several years before Hitler came to power and began a program to take over smaller countries such as Ehiopia and restore the glory of Rome.

Hitler comes to power, follows Mussolini's lead and outlaws all opposition parties and commences an expansion program, partly based on inequities of the Versailles treaty and partly based only on pure expansion.l/B] His first land grab had nothing to do with Britain or France or the Rothschild Banking interests, etc. He just decided to annex the country of Austria into Germany. The German Reich had never included Austria before. Hitler wanted it so he took it while the allies sat around watching. Next Hitler wanted a large part of Czechoslovakia, which had a large group of German speaking people. There was no justification for this land grab. The Sudatenland had never been part of Germany. the Czech's were a small and peaceful democracy after WWI and that democracy was thriving. Hitler wanted it just because 4 million German speakers were living there.

Finally, Britain and France, stepped up and attempted to curb Hitler because they had some kind of deal with the Czechs to defend them. Britain negotiated in good faith with Hitler and cut a treaty in 1938 in Munich that agreed to sanction the annexation of part of Czech territory to Germany with the proviso that that would be Germany's last territorial claim in Europe.

So we have Neville Chamberlin, sort of a forerunner of our President Obama, making a deal with Hitler. In other words, Britain and France were trying to avoid war with Germany, not start such a war. Detractors were telling the British, "You can't do business with Hitler" but Chamberlin ignored them. Immediately, when the Brits caved so easily, Hitler saw that as a sign of weakness and decided to get back more territory which Germany had lost to Poland in WWI, the Polish corridor to the North Sea with its large port city of Danzig.

When this occurred Chamberlin resigned in disgrace and the British installed Winston Churchill in his place. Under Churchill, the British and their French allies finally made a stand. They told Hitler in no uncertain terms that if Hitler attacked Poland to get back Danzig, they would come to the aid of Poland.

Leon, I think this is the key point which shows that Hitler alone started WWII. He did not hesitate for a moment but immediately broke the treaty which he made with the British and French in Munich in 1938 and ordered the German troops to attack Poland in 1939. Hitler broke both the 1938 Munich Pact and the Versailles Treaty agreement by invading Poland. All of this aggression was done by Hitler of his own fee will. The British and French were not promoting this!

Before going into Poland, Hitler signed a oeace pact with Stalin as well, to protect his rear guard from a Soviet attack. Doing this was a terrible compromise for Hitler since it went against what he wrote in Mein Kampf, but he had not yet won any military victories against the West and compromised his program, as outlined in his book by making a deal with the USSR.

Germany was not yet ready for a full scale war against the West. The German army and navy wanted 4 more years to get to state of war readiness. They felt that by 1943 they would be built up and ready to take on the West. Hitler jumped the gun early and attacked in 1939. Ultimately, that huge mistake ended up causng Germany to be defeated. it was this mistake, plus Churchill's refusal to accept Hitler's peace offer plus Hitler's breaking yet another peace treaty, this time with the USSR which led to his total and complete downfall.

Germany's destiny was totally aligned with Hitler, it would sink or swim based on Hitler's decisions. Ultimately Hitler's decision to break his treaty with the USSR while England had not yet been defeated and later to declare war against the USA, which had never been part of his program, which brought him down, and Germany with him. Hitler was bold and daring and thought outside of the box and by doing so, he made Germany one of the world's great superpowers again but Hitler was out of his league beyond that point. He totally underestimated the Western democracies. He had no knowledge or reality about what they were capable of and he totally underestimated the Soviet Union.

Also, his racial theories contributee to his total defeat. With all its technical and scientific expertise, Nazi Germany believed in this ridiculous Aryan racial superiority bullshit solely because Hitler and his henchman said it was true. This childish stupid belief by the Nazis greatly hastened their demise.

The only chance for the Axis was to get in, win and get out with a quick victory. If it came to a long drawn out war, the Axis nations simply did not have the staying power to outlast the allies, mainly due to lack of population and lack of natural resources.

Yes....Hitler laid it all out in in "Mein Kampf"....

I don't recall what, if anything Hitler wrote about Royalty in "Mein Kampf." I don't recall him broaching the subject.

But WW I......IMO was the last war fought by and for and because of Royalty....In Europe.

I believe the English commoners were appalled at the lost of life during WW I.....and pretty much laid that fault at English leaders that had inherited their titles....and won places of leadership solely due to heritage....and lineage...But didn't know squat about the first "industrial war" and how horrific it could be....IMO

I suppose it was a similar situation in Germany and other countries.....

But then Hitler's rise to power....he pretty much took the old time leaders out of the picture......

WW II being waged with out Royalty....as far as I know.......as far as loss of life.....WWII was worse...But it was different men at the wheel.....at least....

America had no Royalty at that time....so she doesn't really fit into my supposition above.....but I think my take on it still applies.

Japan was all about Royalty....so that doesn't fit in either. But WW II was certainly the end of Royalty for Japan....

But I'm talking about Europe mainly....

In Hitler we have a hyberbolic example of politics taken to a crude, transparently brutal and unscrupulous endpoint. Suicide. (Of course Hitler didn't get the point of de Sade's petit maison.)

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

I once wrote a poem about the ancient Greek custom of keeping a statue of the god Palla in the city of Troy. This statue was known as the Palladium. The word palladium perhaps serves as metaphor for the idea of the safety of a city. Thus my poem ends, "the people had their palladium and were soothed." The Greek idea was that if the statue of the god was safe, so was the city. When Zeus himself smashed the statue only then was the sack of Troy possible. Thus the unpredictable nature of gods..... as to their allegiances and desires and the human ability to know what these might be. And once that was the case, once Troy lost the palladium, the Trojan horse becomes possible, that horse being the substitute palladium. Anyway, there are infinite stories of palladium in literature and in life. But can we say that Hitler offered such a (substitute) palladium to the people and like sheep they followed him over the cliff of hell.......?

Does anyone know the role Ada Lovelace played in the world as we now know it ?

Ah, the concise history of what led to WWII - according to chatboard posts. OK.

Perhaps as a variation of " love stats " someone would venture into what happened in Africa when Christian missionaries went into Africa saving children lives with modern medicine ( still do it )
yet , somehow, failed to bring education & farming along with it.

Results ? Poverty. Starvation. Wars.

Did 'good intentions' ruin any chance Africa might have had ?

But dealing with " love " why not go back to the Jesus Christ as Son of God.

Jesus of the new testament was into love & forgiveness whereas the old testament God was a God of vengeance, jealous God. & angry God.

There is some 'love / hate' glory & stains all over that whole [religious story].....right........or not ?

Is this "religious" bent merely yet another implementation of some all powerful guru over the- so called - " common man " ?

Is it the salt of the earth common man than does the work the world lives on or the direction of the gurus that leads the world forward - which gets ( oh, deserves ) the acknowledgement ?

But, anyway, there is the 'love/hate' thing, there is the 'master/ slave' thing, as well as 'worker/ thinker' thing to not even get into the necessity of artists - but could all of that just be cut through into one word of what is most needed by all on earth : EDUCATION.

Would education lead to a more "ideal" ( <-- whatever THAT might be ) world for all of the future ? Just a thought.

Oh, as a complete aside & change of pace....of mixing art & science......Einstein enjoyed playing Mozart on his violin & he was bold enough to state why.

Anyone care to offer an opinion as to WHY Einstein enjoyed playing Mozart of his violin ?

Einstein wrote letters almost every day , many papers, & his life work is now available online.

Ben Franklin wrote letters every day & volumes of other writings & it is all now available online.

Even all of volumes & volumes written & drawn by Da Vinci have been preserved & are now available online.

I have to ask myself how it is I'm posting my drivel right now when at my fingertips there are the works of the shapers of our world available right here online?

Speaking of statues....and palladiums, ideals built upon ruins....
I found this quote from Hitler on Wikipedia's Nazi architecture page...

"The purpose of Nazi architecture and technology should be to create ruins to last a thousand years and thereby overcome the transience of the market".[SUP]

It sure made Jesus popular !

Of course refusing wine was/is a punishable offense. Is it still? Perhaps being too serious is the same thing.

I mean look at what the maenads did to Orpheus.....

Definitely a cautionary tale - Being too serious, and a prophet of the Sun god Apollo, Orpheus didn't know when to let his hair down. Apparently had
given up the love of the feminine gender. Abstained in the name of his Apollo studies? Thus lost his head to those crazed women. (If I am not mistaken, Socrates loses his life for the same sort of seriousness.)

(ah....speaking of Apollo....here we are Aboard the Apollo. Duh!)

Anyway you slice it, palladium is a dangerous business.

I wonder if Google searches for/quests in the name of Apollo the sun god lead to this thread?

It's so much more interesting discussing the Greeks and all their beliefs and antics than discussing Scientology....Hitler of course was the furthest thing from a Greek. As are Scientologists.
Of course being as the Greeks would make any self-respecting Scientologist shudder. All that wine....all that verbal tech.....

Re: What is a "Big Being"?

I would say a being's size is determined by how many other beings are connected to him / her.

When John said that they were more popular than Jesus. We all know who John is.

John is / was a big being, so were the other three.

When another John, went Clear, he related hearing all these voices saying "Don't betray us." You only had to see him with a huge auditorium full of people to see how connected he was to everyone. Love was a big thing with him. Again, you know which John I'm talking about.

If I say Hitler, we all know who that schmuck was.

I'd say he was a big being. He connected, not too nicely with the world's people, but connect he did.

As I've gotten auditing, I've become more open and accepting of others. I am no longer the petty little shit I was for a time.

There's more, but not now. Thoughts? Agreements? Disagreements?

I agree. Being evil or petty has nothing to do with being a big or a small being. Hitler obviously marshalled a lot of power. By that fact he was cause.

I guess being cause is not enough since being cause and petty (or evil) at the same time was entirely possible in Hitler's case.

As I have gone through life I've also noticed I've stopped being a petty little shit. I don't know that auditing had anything to do with it but that doesn't matter.
Whenever happens to assist life is good.
