That last sentence of my last post, "now now dear don't you fret it is all over" reminds me of like a reverse win or reverse black auditing, (A form of fear-based comfort) where fear leads to the 'win'....and so the win represents a closing up and not the opening up of a person. The real win would be to open, but that requires trust. Now that sort of fear-based technology that strips out real trust and loyalty (via sec checks, humiliation etc.) IS a way, but it relies on force and control and not on true allegiance.

Still have not fixed my computer (not rushing to fix it). Using it as a paper weight.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Withholding and distrusting another is healthy in certain situations. The key is to open and close as a being according to something real, not an illusion.

So the fake opening of a being makes a being feel safe when he isn't and makes him trust when he should distrust.

If one is in a war then what are these black 'techniques' (forcing beings to open and close according to a lie or illusion)?
They are psychological or psychic war crafts. The weird part ends up being that the 'fighters' are unaware that their box was wrongly opened. They are not intentionally
'propagating' the illusion (the reality-flavor on the menu).

So what can one learn when one is asleep that way (closed) yet looks and acts awake? Can one trust such beings?

There are only a few things that could wake such a person up (according to a native Indian view.)
But no one would like those very much at all. So sleeping is preferred.....

Good post, but here's a hint Maria; have you thought of installing Linux as well as Windows? I'm posting from a Linux distro right now.

In my experience Linux is more trouble-free than Windows (there are others here who use it too).

I have thought of it...but a problem is that I needed adobe suite so I can quickly 'design'/do digital art things I'd like to paint...and I thought linux and adobe were slightly non-friendly.

On my other computer I put in two hard drives and they were swappable...so I could pull out the linux and put in the win....but this one is a laptop. Would that require partitions then?
Win is so dumb in its boot stuff. Makes it harder to do. I could swap the drives but only using special software on the desk. then that fried a few years ago and since then it's just been the win,
so I can do the graphics programs when I want.

I think you're right there Maria. Adobe has PhotoShop which is the leading image and photo editing software in the industry and is only available for Windows.

Do you have Windows 7? It's harder with Windows 8 and later to install and boot other operating systems alongside it (hint: Microsoft don't want you to do it), but I believe it can be done.

I don't know anything about swapping hard drives in and out of laptops, but partitioning a hard drive in one (or shrinking an existing Windows partition) and then installing Linux in the new partition should be the same as with a desktop; I can't see why it wouldn't be.

Wilt passed away in 1999. Lisa got married in 1995.

In theory, their paths could have crossed.

Also sex at 30,000 feet is a questionable claim to fame - maybe was his best, but, consider these facts :

"Best Answer: A very intriguingly intelligent question. The average cruising altitude for long haul flights ranges from 30,000 to 40,000 feet depending on the capability of the aircraft.

Aircrafts are cleared to specified heights on each leg of their journey. The ATC will not clear a pilot to fly at 30,000 feet if Mt. Everest is in its route. They will either detour or climb higher. "

Military aircraft, of course, can fly higher than 40,000 feet. Some military aircraft used for high level transport might have had the deed done as high as 50,000 feet.

And, we'll never know what has happened on Air Force One.

Wilt was a hound !

It can be done, but I don't think it's a beginner's job. Here's a set of instructions for installing Ubuntu alongside Windows 8, and the author admits there are some gaps which depend upon what is activated (UEFI along with Secure Boot);

If you've got a techie friend who knows his or her way round a computer motherboard, or a good computer workshop nearby, you should be OK, but I wouldn't risk it on my own. Sorry I can't be more constructive.

I'm not going to mess with that yet.

What I need to do is figure out how to restore my local area network, which when the antivirus' firewall miniports got hosed, meant the network failed/network files were corrupted.

Tried replacing network drivers. No joy. Need to try and get internet first before rebuilding computer so that I can deactivate software properly, then reformat and reinstall OS.
Deactivation requires internet. Oh heck, I can always just reformat but then I have to call Adobe and create a bunch of customer support traffic....

Just a wild-arsed guess here Maria; does 8 still have System Restore (I think its called something else now), where you can just roll back any changes you've made to your system to the way it was at a certain date? I don't know if it would correct the firewall miniports but it wouldn't hurt and AFAIK you wouldn't need an internet connection to do it.

(Tip; if possible, pick a date to restore back to which was after the time you installed all the Adobe software so that you don't get all the customer support nonsense to deal with).

EDIT: here's a tutorial explaining how to carry out a system restore in Windows 8;

I never did set that up (restore settings) since the laptop was a bit new. A few minutes ago I just now made an ISO file so I can run the installer.
I will probably have to go through all that customer service chatter with Adobe... also ran command line sfc /scannow and a number of windows files are also corrupted I see....
so I guess this is just normal on windows. Every year at least once or twice I have had to rebuild the stupid thing.

I need to get a mac laptop again! When I had one before (sold it because I was a fool but that was before retina) I never had to do anything. But the problem is that Adobe doesn't let me install my Adobe products onto mac because it sells the win and mac versions separately. How stupid. So to install on Mac I would have to buy on their new subscription model...whereas the model I have now is perpetual. So I can keep installing it on these two machines FOREVER as long as the machines stay on the current configuration (I assume.) Whereas on the subscription it is only good for a year.....but the same amount of money practically.

I built the machine I am typing on by hand. Bought all the parts, motherboard, processor, etc. at Newegg.com and amazon. Assembled it on a table. I'd never buy a desktop again. In fact, if anything on this one goes I will just replace the parts as needed and keep on going forever.....The machines by HP and other places are made so that replacing parts is impossible. So one always has to buy a new machine. How ugly is that. This one is about six years old , the case is butt ugly but it is BETTER than the stuff sold NOW NEW. It is much better. If I wanted to update it, I'd just have to get a new Motherboard and so on.... But I rarely use it since it's in my art studio for other purposes. The one I am using more is the laptop that hiccuped.

Actually, photoshop full version is now about 10 dollars a month for consumers (I think) on subscription. But still, that is 120 a year! More than it would cost to buy Photoshop elements in a box. I have everything, the entire suite and not on subscription. Not sure if it would even run on Windows 10.

Windows 10 is an evil plot to force me to change to the subscription model! LOLOL

There's also the various sects which existed around the time of Jesus. They were the Essenes, the Sadducees, and the Pharisees (whose leaders Jesus came into conflict with).

The Pharisees evolved into modern Rabbinic Judaism. What distinguished the Pharisees from the other Jewish sects was their reliance on the Oral Law (Talmud), whose validity the other sects (as well as Christianity) rejected.

Enthetan, please feel free to contribute as much as you like to this area of discussion. It has nothing to do with Scientology or ex Scientology but in my opinion the topic I wrote about is more important than either of those two subjects, especially Scientology itself. However, for ex Scientologists newly coming out of CoS or for people who are thinking of starting Scientology services in the CoS or in the independent field, some of them might come here just by virtue of seeing how many views we have as compared to the other threads. For that reason and that reason alone. IMHO, I believe we must provide some discussions about Scientology and ex Scientology on this thread and what we write about it has to be written with accuracy and integrity so as to help those people make sound judgments about whether to or not to proceed forward in some manner with studying Scientology either in CoS or in the field.

It is pretty clear that the majority of us here on this thread believe that the subject does not warrant further study but that opinion is far from unanimous. We have high quality posters such as Terril, Leon and others who believe otherwise. This is as it should be, all legitimate views on Scientology should be available to be read on this thread!

As far as the article I wrote about Judaism amd Jewish history, I am no expert but I wanted to write a simple introduction to the subject for either people who are interested in the subject or for people who talk about it without knowing anything at all about what they are talking about..

I am interested in the topic which you brought up above, perhaps you could recommend a good source where I could go to brush up on the topic further.

All in all, Enthetan, I am pretty happy with what I wrote. I think it is a good and fair intro type article written off the top of my head, just from the facts as I had learned them over the years. What do you think about my article? Be honest now and any positive critique one way or the other will be greatly appreciated.

Responding to Lakey's suggestion about new people.

Here you go. I don't care if I am accused of being a guru. I am not. Anyone just go to town! But I won't fkning apologize for having brain cells. Before trying to focus on real wins in existence, a person leaving cos should free their mind of all concepts or beliefs of cos or scn, if they can and to the degree possible. After that then there are those here who can possibly help, in some way, with what ails. I am down on the tech and it is healthy for new departures to do that too - go sailing, walk in the woods, play with your dog. That is step 1. Nature is more fun than any tech. Talk to exes who care, like on this thread is then Step 2. Here on this thread we won't attack you, no matter what you believe.

Re: The old days - Aboard the Apollo - 1973

Ah someone mentioned ' catholic & jewish ' as religions.

Some, like mentioning features like the " hawk nose " seem to be under the impression the jewish peoples are a race.

Which is it - religion or race.................perhaps both ?

I never really knew.

Gizmo wrote the above.

Of course, Catholicism is a religion, people of any race or national background can partake of that religion and they do.

In the case of Judaism, things are different, very much different. The Jewish people started out as a "tribe" of people in a certain portion of the world inhabited by other tribes with similar racial and national backgrounds. The larger group of people, all tribes combined, tended to consist of what might be called a subdivision of a race, particularly a subdivision of the Causcasian race and that subdivision has become referred to as Semites, consisiting of people of Semitic origin.

Within Judaism, there were subdivisions as well, the Levites or Levi's, the Cohens and others. I am no expert on this. What distinguished the Judaic tribe from the others is their religiosity. The Judaic tribes, through one of their Patriarchs. Abraham, came to believe in just one God , Yahveh, as the source of the world and the universe for that matter; Non of the other tribes held this belief. That is what separated the tribes of Judea. the land on which the Jews dwelt, from the other tribes of similar racial characteristics, i.e. Semitic characteristics. At that point, what came to be known as the Jewish people separated out from their Semitic brethern.

Some parallels may be drawn with other tribal peoples, such as the tribes of the native American Indians. Those tribes appear to have originated from the far North portion of the Earth. You have the Laplanders in the Northern reaches of Sweden and Norway and you find people of similar racial features in Siberia and these tribes appear to have been able to migrate into North America on foot when the oceans of the far north froze over. The area called the Bering Straits in particular apparently froze over and enabled this migration. Those tribes did not divide on such a major issue as there being just one God or many Gods, thus even though those tribes had their differences, no separate religion or totally unique people ever spawned from those tribes the way the Jewish people broke off from other Semitic tribes.

So, getting back to the Jews, believing in Yawveh as their only God, really separated them from their fellow Semitic tribes. Physically, these tribes are of the same race. They are caucasions and yes, they do tend to have hooked noses as a common trait, they tend to have dark hair and dark eyes and their skin tends to be swarthy because those tribes first existed in the Arabian Peninsula and surrounding areas which contained large desert areas.

The Jewish people are unique genetically because they became Nomadic people when their country was totally destroyed by the Roman Empire in 70 AD. At that point their tribe was driven by force out of its homeland and literraly dispersed to all corners of the Earth. However, for a long time, the Jewish dispersion was limited primarily, but not exclusively, to Europe. The Jews initially arrived in Spain, the most powerful country in Western Europe for several centuries. Driven from there by the Spanish inquisition, they went to the Netherlands, a more free and welcoming society which was unique in that they gave the Jews more rights than other countries in Europe did. During this migratory phase, the Jewish people, former tribesmen in Judea, did not fit in with the Europeans. The racial characteristics between Semites and Teutonic type peoples of Europe was significant but much more significant than that were the religious differences. By the time the Jews were well ensconced in Europe, Western Europeans were for the most part all of the Catholic religion. Catholics were taught to convert non Catholics to Catholicism but the Jews were stubborn and resisted conversion.

The Jewish people became yet more unique by intermarrying with the non Jewish populations of Europe. This intermarriage produced mixed race off spring of a sort. True, both Jewish people and non Jewish Europeans were Caucasian but it was Semitic Caucasians intermarrying with Teutonic Caucasians. With these intermarriages going on for hundreds of years, the Semitic features of the Jews. being so much smaller in numbers than the Christians. began to be more like the Christian non Jews. Some Jews began to be born with blonde hair and blue eyes and some Jews were born with a straight or even turned up nose, etc. Meanwhile, back in Judea and Palestine, the Semitic people living there were not intermarrying with Europeans and they retained their original Semitic look. I believe that it is this displacement of the Jewish people from one area of the World to another which tends to confuse people about whether or not Judaism is a religion or a race of people. Clearly it is a religion basically to one tribe of Semitic people who were displaced to another part of the world and did a lot of intermarrying with the populations of the newer parts of the world which they migrated too.

Compounding the fact that Jews looked different and resisted being converted away from Judaism and into Chistianity, the New Testament tended to put blame on the Jewish people for the death of Jesus. This was a very caustic mix for the Jewish people to deal with. Here they were, a tribe who had lost their homeland centuries earlier. They wanted to become part of the new countries where they were living but they looked different and did not accept Jesus as the Messiah and their Bible promised them that some day they would return to their old homeland in Judea. This was a very difficult situation for the Jewish people to deal with. Of course, this spawned hatred towards them from a populace which was not that well educated in mediaval times. In fact, the Catholic Church of those times preferred to keep a monopoly on knowledge within the Church rather than attempt to educate the common people en masse. This state of affairs continued until the Rennaisance.

I could go on much longer with this treatise or mine but it is already too long as it is so I will stop now. I have addressed Gizmo's comments to the best of my ability with only a layman's view of the history of the Jewish people vis a vis the world of Judea and the later world of Western Europe.

I will say this. When people of my generation pass on, it will not signal an end to improper use of perjurative words which tend to slander various minority races but what it will do is further dumb down Western society so that the man or woman on the street will have no concept whatever of why certain things now exist the way they do. Due to lack of knowledge, people of that future society will miss assign various facets of language and societal tribes and their customs to superstitions or wrong causes based on opinions made without knowing any of the facts of a particular situation.
Lakey

PS - this post is also in part an answer to Panda Termint's post above. Some understanding is better than living in a fog. Living without understanding makes life insgnificant. Only with more understanding may any worthwhile significance be brought to bear on life.

I added a whole new paragraph to my earlier post and it is pretty important material which changes the post quite a bit so I decided to repost that post again so any one interested in it could read the new paragraph.
