FATHERS DAY 2015
I'm back now about 8:20 AM and had a great time, I never really stopped smiling the whole day. My kids arrived about 4:20 and gave me a very nice card. We then drove to the New York Jewish style deli and bakery. My son showed me an Idiom Site on his cell phone. He said that he was really into idioms. The three of us spent 5 or 10 minutes trying to dig up interesting idioms and discuss them. It was a lot of fun and I think knowing these may be valuable for an attorney such as my son.
By the way, My daughter drove us to the restaurant in her new Honda Civic, it is extremely nice. The car is quite a bit quieter and has a smoother ride than my Mazda 3. Also, the dash on the Honda may have more of a luxury feel to it than the Mazda 3 but the Mazda 3 seems to use slightly higher grade interior materials, a bit more soft touch materials and a bit less hard plastics. The Mazda's trump cards are good handling, zippiness, a high fun to drive quotient and high fuel economy.
The Honda Civic is also good in all these departments. The Mazda might have a little more zip and feel a tad sportier but it is close. On the highway my Mazda is rated at 41 mpg and the Civic is 38 mpg, not really enough difference to matter. My daughter's car has all the new electronic toys such as back up camera, blind spot warning assistance, blue tooth, etc. Actually, my model came with blue tooth standard and blue tooth costs between $50 to $100 extra as an add on to the Honda. There are so many excellent cars to check out in this class. There are no lemons anymore. Corolla, VW Golf, Ford Focus, Chevy Cruze, Hyundai, Kia, no one is going to go wrong choosing any of those vehicles.
I asked my daughter about her social life and she had nothing new to tell me. She has a job as a junior exec in the hiring department of her company and has her own private office. That is a first for her and is really big deal for her as well.. Needless to say, she really loves her job.
My ex wife showed up and we all ordered. Each of us had an alcoholic beverage, I had a Cours Light on tap. We had wonderful conversations, talking about all sorts of things. One topic concerned what other relatives were doing. My son is now friends with two of his cousins and my cousin, his uncle, has hired his law firm to serve as his corporate attorney. I was very surprised and very happy to hear all this skinny. The food was excellent by the way!
After the early dinner, we all went into the bakery. The other 3 bought several pastries to take home. I had enough will power to resist. My ex has been semi starving herself on 1400 calories a day and exercising about 2 hours a day on a treadmill and an elliptical. She says she lost 3 of the 10 lbs which she had recently put on. She really looks great for her age!
I had my ex take a picture of me standing with my arms around the two kids, behind my daughter's new car. Then my son took another picture of me standing with my arms around my daughter and my ex. I would love to post them here but I have been told by them not to do that. No one in their circle of friends has anything to do with CoS and they want to keep it that way.
On the drive back to my place me and the kids talked about first names and how they have changed over the years. We tried to think up some old ones such as Bartholomew, Julius, Constance, Constantine, Betty, etc. plus newer names, Grant, Madison, Lincoln, etc. It seems like many presidential last name are now first names
.
Overall, it was a wonderful time, only 4 hours but every minute packed with fun. They are great kids, super smart, good senses of humor and good values. It was touch and go for awhile, several barriers to get to this point, but the bottom line is that we had high expectations for our kids and they have exceeded those expectations!! Me and my ex love them very much!
