Good man! I forgot to include Joe Orton's 'Loot' and 'Train Spotting', indeed if you read books, then any of Irvine Welsh's books will help you to get a first-hand insight into Brit culture and fine manners.

PS. Please be sure to let me know what you thought of the films ok?

I also happen to like to read the private eye! The covers are brilliant. http://www.private-eye.co.uk/covers

Hats would probably like it too.

I got into these habits years ago....because I had an English friend, who also taught me to make tea the proper way, in a pot, with leaves not bags, and the cozy. So there you have it.
I'm ruined as an American.

Yes, those cheap and nasty covers started at a time when they probably didn't have any money for anything else and now the magazine wouldn't be the same without them. I haven't read one for years but I used to like Barry - shit a brick - McKenzie.

[strike]BTW, It's 'Private Eye' not 'The Private Eye'[/strike]. Fucking pedants! You can't get through a day without bumping into one!

Is ok. I kinda realized I was making that mistake but got lazy and didn't go check. Silly me!!!!

Those covers really are quite good. Like, who dreams them up!!? I don't always understand every back story but it is hard NOT to crack up laughing.

Its beyond the beyond.....

Here is a British cutie, Lily Allen.

Now where is she from, and what strata of life is depicted. A bit of a vindictive wench in that video!

This is funnier even. This girl plays real nasty characters in her song videos. Geesh. She is terrible. A real man killer-hater.
She would be one to steer clear of......the men in the video are reduced to servant boys {gag}. Emotionless drones.

At least, a nice A-line dress....what a viper.

This is funnier even. Love the A-line dress!

Loved it.

Nice pairing of the material girl attitude while wearing the sweet Marlo Thomas 1966 style fashion sense. LOVE....free love. :happydance: Not!

I could only make out part of the lyrics. Her worldview reminded me of some of the colorful characters I'd seen Joan Crawford play in films this year. RAIN and THE WOMEN comes to mind.

I have absolutely no idea and I couldn't care less as I can't stand Lily Allen and her banal songs. What is fascinating is that she has one of those Indian cotton bedcovers on her bed that were all the rage in the 60's.

Lily Allen a British cutie? Naah! Keira Knightley is a British cutie.

That is a good reaction to her. After watching that last song I felt absolutely a gag coming on. The tune slightly catchy but the words and overall was just sad and sick.

Actually I think it was more like a revenge video! Not much love in it.
I like the fashion of her videos but when I pulled up the lyrics just now I thought she was a bit of a tripe tribute to superficiality. Someone suggested I listen to her. But I'd never paid attention to the lyric until today. She HATES men is the idea I get. HATES them.

I didn't listen to either of the vids as I have to download them first and that's a bit of a PITA. So, she's a lesbian eh? Well, live and learn.

Must confess I didn't hear the song, the tune or the lyrics, just watched the videos :wink2:

i have no idea if she is a lesbian, probably not. I just felt from her videos she is very '1.1' with men and hates them.

She has children, so I wouldn't have thought so (but that's not a certain indicator admittedly). Her dad (Keith Allen) is a comic actor who appeared with the Comic Strip and other series.
