Lakey could do a good Sally Fields!

I would ask Lakey to the podium, but he looks like he's too choked up with joy and relief.

He did want to thank the Academy (at CC, definitely not the LA Org).

Quoting from Sally Fields, he conveys these words to us, "You like me, you really do."

After the fanfare, he is inviting us all (in SoCal) to a pot luck barbeque in the rain at his house. Bring your swim suits.

There will be interviews on the red carpet by OSA. To be broadcast on YouTube under the search words: "enemies of Scientology, they never rest."

"Enemies of Scientology, they party onward!" :coolwink:

OSA peeps WISH they could get onto our Red Carpet! :D Lol!

Leon is correct here.

The "flip," as it is now being referred to, is simply the dramatization of an old wrong answer/solution to a threat to your survival and/or well being.

You attacked that which threatened you sufficiently. That was the major change-point to/of your relationship with others, and the major change-point to/of your own spiritual condition of existence.

It was a whole and complete change . . . and I won't get into listing all of the aspects or components of it here

There is a particular incident, way, way back in our existence of this:)

Unfortunately, such solutions/wrong answers were put on automatic . . . i.e., "to always when . . . "

Also, they were created with no time specific . . . they have since their original creation and being put in place floated along with us in "spiritual no-time".

Of course, this old wrong answer produced its own problems which then had to be solved, and so it went: solution, resulting in a problem; solution, resulting in a problem; solution, resulting in a problem; etc., down into PT.

It is incorrect and an unsuitable label to use, the word "hypnotized."

It is more accurate to say that we are dramatizing and acting out on automatic our own created old solutions . . . . with a little help from others

And, by the way, it is this phenomenon of dramatizing in PT one's old solutions that causes all this shit to be occluded and hard to find . . . . for guess what? Occluding, burying it, denying it, avoiding and not knowing it, et al is also one of the solution practices we put in place.

RogerB

Boy! this hit home. I think I can add to it.

It is not just one solution. It is the "black panther mechanism" choice: attack, flee, avoid, neglect, succumb, or play dead.

And the "Black Panther" is the threat to one's closely held positive reason for living -- that being threatened by the antithesis of one's personal primal core positive value.

Could one of the wrong answers/solutions have been pacifism and the "turn the other cheek" maxim included in many religions. This concept has merit but it is its "no time specific" feature which severely compromises its successful application.

It is incorrect and an unsuitable label to use, the word "hypnotized."

Rog's post above preceeded and follwed by Leon's posts and Carmelo's post regarding the "Black Panter Mechanism" seem to totally handle the original flip question put forth by Carmelo. Of course there are added benefits besides only answering the flip question.

I can just see that pacifism and "turn the other cheek" may well have arisen early on the track after the "attack on what threatened one sufficiently" proved to be the wrong answer in handling the threat. I have some real awareness on this. "Turn the other cheek" would stop all attacks and that was undoubtedly the goal of that maxim. If only it did not have its "no time specific" feature, it could have worked much better than it has in actual practice. It really is unfortunate that all such solutions were put on automatic, i.e...."to always when..." I can see that if a command was laid in to a being's mind by an agency other than the being itself, this command would be extremely similar to a hypnotist laying in a command or suggestion to a subject in a stage demostraton of hypnotism. If a being knowingly allowed others to lay in "to always when... " and the being dramatized this one area, the word hypnotism could be fitting. For all other dramatizations, dramatization is the proper word and hypnotism would be incorrect, at least that is my take on it after reading both Leon and Roger.

My Black Panther

I found my panther visiting the Zoo in Dallas Texas. Of course, he was behind vertical bars and I was standing behind a horizontal bar a couple of foot from him. I looked in his eyes and it was instant love. He came to the front of his cage and I ducked under my bar. I reached throuh the bars and rubbed his nose, never losing eye contact. After a couple of minutes he started purring. That is a beautiful sound coming from a "wild" animal. I was the only visitor in the Cat House, but eventually a guard came around the corner and saw me. He had a fit and made me get behind the bar. I visited the panther several more times but only had the pleasure of touching him and talking to him once more. When I came to see him he would always come to the front of the cage. So, here is one more action when meeting a "Black Panther" you can pet him.

Aunt Pat, did you have any track record with being able to communicate with wild animals in the way that you did? Did you have any fear that something might go wrong? Probably not because the animal would have picked up on your uncertainty and may not have purred. You know Siefried and Roy have retired, maybe you could get a high paying gig in Las Vegas as their replacement. I can see the marquee outside the hotel now, reading "AUNT PAT AND HER PANTERS!

Yes

Yes, Lakey, i have always had a great affinity for animals. I could touch and talk with many, rabbits, squirrels, birds, even skunks. No, once I have made contact with an animal I have no fear.
I don't think I will replace the Vegas act, as I do not believe a Las Vegas stage is any place for animals, as least not other than humans.
Animalls are so honest. They will let you know if they want to be touched or not. I have never had one say, "touch me" and then attack. I have had a few say, "Don't touch me" and I honored that. There are times I feel the same way.:grouch:
I can do the same with most people, but have problems with those who are not as honest as my animal friends. I have a friend who insists that I like animals better than people. She may be correct.:whistling:

We have a friend, who is Indian (feather not dot). He's a cowboy. He's rides bulls and ropes in rodeos. Currently he's housed in a special place where the state pays for his room and board. He walked out of a Safeway without paying for his purchases. When the clerk asked him for money, our friend showed him his big gun. He was high on meth, and was taking the food to a family who needed financial help. (I'm not saying this is logical) When he's not in the houscow, he lives on lots of land worth millions of dollars.

He took our youngest daughter, when she was twelve and had been riding ponies and horses all her life, and taught her how to ride horses. His own daughter, when she was three would shinny up a horse's leg to get on. We've gone riding with him at the beach, where we have our horses, who know the feel of the sand, the surf, the sounds, and are at home. He's taken a brand new (to him) race horse that only knows walk and run on a tightly controlled course. He's walked (sitting on their back) these horses, who've never seen a beach, down across rocks, along traffic, onto the beach at night, right beside us.He has a gentle, but firm way with horses.

Many is the night I've ridden with him a little drunk from a bar, at ten at night, at full gallop over hill and dale, around trees, on deer paths. He's insane, but a good insane.

Twenty or thirty years ago, he unlocked the cages of a lab that did experiments on monkeys. One of the monkeys he released ended up on living on his roof for over a decade. He would throw food up there every day. I don't even know, now that I think of it, where Clyde, his monkey, got water.

He could be riding along on a trail, spot a rattlesnake, jump off his horse, grab the rattler in his shirt, and take the rattlesnake home with him. His horse was not thrilled.

He has a natural affinity for animals. He also has spectacular 8C (control) and tone 40 with them too. He ain't no pussy.

When it comes to people, he's seen the insides of jails many times. He's gotten in lots of fights.

Wisdom is not what he is about -- at least when it comes to people.

PS:

if anyone reading this, thinks they might want to be a pen pal with my friend, PM me. He is 50s going on 60s. he's married and has five kids and grandchildren, so he's not marriage bait. He has more stories than Carter's got pills. He's stuck in a prison for years with murderers and other interesting folk.

My answer...

so.....

the new question is

how do you remain bigger, and not fall into opp term mode?

I can answer that...BECOME the Black Panther that others must handle, ignore or avoid...Or the bigger black panther...(that way those human obstacles get outta your way!) :D That's my answer...but then, I'm probably over empowered, anyway. :coolwink: You don't have to tear anyone to ribbons or eat anyone alive, just appear capable of doing so! :coolwink: Restrained power (Excellent 8C and Tone 40, as in Carmelo's feather not dot friend) is totally awesome and exhilerating for others to experience, and you can make it easy for them...in my experience, witnessing it in action it can transform some of those bad actors...

Everyone needs to find the solution that fits them best...

I LOVE Aunt Pat's option of petting the panther, boy, that sure works with me, too! :p (Both ways, as the stroker, and the strokee! :happydance: And I mean that in both a social as well as a sexual framework :D)

Heidrun, I got a good belly laugh out of that, and I have to add..."Do birds fly?" :p

Welcome, Aunt Pat!

Aunt Pat, I'm SO GLAD you joined us here on this thread, it is a really cool place to hang out...we have lots of fun and some really good deep discussions, too! :happydance: Welcome, dear heart! Thanks for adding your lovely, loving energy to our Theta stream! :D

My kind of guy

Carmelo, Your indian friend sounds like my kind of guy. I never met a rattle snake living in the midwest most of my life. But, one time my husband and I were attending a circus type thingy in Las Vegas and they had a snake show. Of course I was interested never having the opportunity to meet a snake. The guy who put on the show had a pink, yes pink python for sale. She was darling and he only wanted $45 for her.
I wound the five feet of her around my body and went looking for my husband. He did not want to see the snake show and had wandered off, I found him and showed him Pinky. I never knew he had a thing about snakes. After backing up about three feet from him, I asked him about buying her for me. After a short discussion, mostly him, I took Pinky back to her owner and settled for pink cotton candy.
The things we do for husbands. :melodramatic:

Thomas Sowell defines the word "Intellectuals"

Lovely light hearted dialogue with Auntpat, Sweetness and Carmelo, I was glad to see that and keep it up if you lkfe. I heard something on broadcast radio today that was extrememly interesting and thought it worlth enough of note to post it here. Thomas Sowell, an African American scholar, economist and political analyst who has his editorial columns appear in many syndicated large newpapers was on the Dennis Prager radio talk show. Sowell (pronounced soul) has a new book out on intellectuals and on the radio he gave his definition for what an intellectual is.

I would have defined it as a person who is intelligent, and of high I.Q. who is well read and is up to date on politics and has a lot of opinions on various issues of the day and is more of a scholar as opposed to someone who makes a product. THIS DEFINITION IS TOTALLY WRONG!

Sowell has a beautiful definition, and I quote, "An intellectual is one whose products are ideas." Then comes the corollary, "The ideas which an intellectual comes up with are ideas which can not be proved (or disproved).
I believe there is some very sophisticated thinking behind this definition and corollary. The ramifications of this are many. An intellectual does not create any actual product other than ideas which are just speculation or represent a certain way of thinking or behaving out in the world. Our Universities are full of intellectuals to such a degree that if one does make an actual product, he is oftern looked down on as a simpleton or a Neanderthal. This topic, once grasped, gives one a new tool with which to view life; at least I find it so.

with a couple of caveats:

I read a book, when I was 14, titled "For the New Intellectual."

I don't think of myself as an intellectual.

I've been reading Thomas Sowell's columns since about that same period of my life.

I admire him mucho.

I've never met him.

What you say he said, is balderdash. I knew Pat Suppes, head of the philosophy department of a well known university. The same one that Thomas Sowell is connected to. If anyone was an intellectual, Pat was. He also started a corporation called Computer Curriculum Corporation that sold computer teaching software to schools. I don't know what became of CCC. Pat is dead. He lived to a good old age. My point is he applied his theories to the real world and real world solutions.

That same school has lots of people in government, the head of the Fed, for instance. All these people think of themselves as intellectuals. Many of them work diligently to change the world, and in fact, do so.

No more arguments over this Carmelo. I respect your opinion but I just love Sowell's definition of intellectual. I would say this, if a man gets a product which changes the world for the better, then by Sowell's definition, he would not be an intellectual. His whole definition DEFINES intellectuals as ones whose end products are thoughts which cannot be proved or disproved. If a man's ideas better the world than to that degree they are proved and then he no longer fits Sowell's definition of an intellectual.
