Being present is the best present of all! :happydance: Be Here Now! A fantastic spiritual practice that I learned from Baba Ram Dass Love Ram Dass! :flowers:I still have his Be Here Now and the Only Dance There Is bookswhen I was like 12 or 13 maybe... still works, in or out of an auditing session!
Thanks Roger and Mark for your good comments.

Leon, if only it were that easy...but I agree that medicine does not hold all the answers every time, and that being tough is a great survival skill, one I am gaining in as the experience of years accumulates. It's very good advice you have given us all!

O.K. I see a plan coming together here...so I am making an executive decision based on the consensus of the group...KB bakery to start with, then we will tackle Italian or Markee's healthy Aisian food next time, o.k.? I am o.k. with raw food, just no eels tartar please! Mark knows I was vegetarian for six years, and am now an omnivore.I was vegetarian for 8 years and now am an omnivore as well.

We are looking at a Saturday lunch meeting to start with, just to give us travel time and time to yak it up a lot. :) After I call Lakey to confirm date and time, pms with specifics will start arriving. I think you should feel free to bring a like-minded friend or companion (Blue Spirit, I want to see your lovely wife again!) with the understanding that we want to co-create a theta group gathering that will be enjoyed by all. Squirrels and SP's of all varietal forms are welcome...:D

Lakey, you are doing so well with everything, I am really proud of you! Keep up the good work!

As far as our ethnic food preferences go, I saw the biggest Jewish Mother in my life last night (who also happens to be Italian...) and my first response was a craving for carbs! :D There are times we all need comfort food!

We're gonna have fun together, guys! :happydance:

Diet Info (Not Only For Lakey)

Summary: All I am doing wrong is 1. Not Exercising Enough. 2. Due to #1, my stomach is enlarged #3. I eat out too often #4. I snack too often expecially in the evening. Everything else is in pretty good, avoidance of white flour and refined sugar, very little alcohol, very little meat other than chicken and fish, eat a salad with almost every lunch and dinner, have tons of natural veggies with lunches and dinners, almost no desserts. Eat complex carbos instead of quick energy combos. I need to be able to get in #1 thru #4.
Lakey

Hi Lakey,

well that sounds excellent, you have it all worked out in your mind, a complete program!

One successful action of mine is: when I feel the need for a snack, instead of eating a typical snack, I go and make a bowl full of raw "fingerfood": bell pepper slices, cucumber slices, tomatoes, carrots, celery sticks etc., and maybe I take some fresh cheese out of the fridge as a dip. That fills the belly well, without adding calories.

Some people also report successes with "dinner cancelling", i.e. they don't eat anymore after 16:00 or 18:00. I tend to do that too, but not as a plan, more by forgetting to eat because ESMB is so interesting :)

That is actually a success in itself, because I remember very well the times where I would be hungry all the time, all the time, all the time. Not anymore!

Wow Heidrun, thanks for all that good advice...I'd like to hear the rest of your info on fats etc. when you find time, and congrats on your successes with this! Anybody else have anything to share with us on this topic? Rog??? :)

Note to Heidrun: There's a nude beach in Austria?:confused2: I'm totally revising my image of Austrians! No WONDER Lakey liked it there so much! :coolwink: (Just teasing!) :coolwink:

Many nudist beaches. My father used to be the foreman of a nudist association, 30 years ago. I haven't been there since I got kids - no more time. And now I don't feel like going alone. (I also don't go to most other events that I would like to attend - there is a planet to clear...)

In Germany it's even more relaxed now. Naked people doing picknicks or jogging in the park. The attitude has changed. If someone is still calling for police, the officer will come and ask whether anyone has been harmed. No? So, what's the issue?

At least that's what they showed in one TV documentary. Sweet old ladies grinning about the sexy young jogger whose parts are happily bouncing as he runs down the walkway. Isn't that an idyll?

There is a clambake coming up (should you want to come to that). An old crooner started it some years back, even the former mayor makes an appearance.

But you guys probably (seeing how the thread is going) might want to get together on Black's Beach. OSA could take pictures and post them on their anti exe sites. Might be pretty funny.

How many people can decode this post? :)

Bing Crosby founded the Pebble Beach Golf Tournament in San Diego in 1937. In the old days it was referred to as Bing Crosby's Clambake because it was on the beach at Pebble Beach and people in those olden days used to have clam bakes out on the beach at night. If we want the honor of his presence at one of the coffee clatches or meals which we are planing, I think Carmelo is inviting us to the upcoming Pebble Beach Golf tournament which he plans on attending. Further he is suggesting that after we all lose weight following Heidrun's diet recommendation, we will all look so good that we might want to meet on Black's Beach, a famous nude beach in San Diego. Maybe Heidrun ought to fly in for the festivities. P.S. You will never catch me parading around on some Nude beach. I am much to proper to ever even consider such a thing, even if I was super fit, which I am not. The former mayor is Clint Eastwood, once mayor of Carmel, CA who will make an appearance. Okay, Carmelo, consider your post decoded.

Ten to twelve years later, 1947 to 1949. the families in our L.A. neighborhood used to take us out at night in the summer to Playa del Rey or Venice Beach for marshmellow roasts or to watch the "grunion" run, i.e. come ashore for breeding. What a great time it was to be a kid. We had no electronice video games but who needed it? In 1949 Television began to be widely sold in Los Angeles and everyone started buying black and white sets with tiny 10" or 12" screens. The biggest screens available were 16" and they were mainly for rich people. At first there was only one channel, Channel 5, KTLA. The TV shows were pretty much limited to Old Cowboy movies, live Wrestling matches, and cooking shows. From 4:00 to 6:00 it was all kids shows which formerly were on the radio and were then moved to TV. What an exciting time we had. By 1951 or 1952, all the major networks had stations too and the TV menu was well fleshed out with all kind of drama, mystery, game and variety shows added to the wrestling and cowboy movies. God, those days were fun!!

I liked the concept of the old cowboy TV shows where each had a moral theme

to teach the kids right and wrong. The Lone Ranger (Kemosobe) and Tonto (my Favorite)
Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy, The Cisco Kid, and Zorro.

Very nicely done. Clint is part owner of the Pebble Beach Company.

And Gene Autry owned KTLA.

And, still in 1962, I was listening to radio at night, in my bed at night on my crystal radio set. So much for my "early adaptor" status.

Excellent but you may have missed naming the biggest moralizer of them all, The Lone Ranger and his faithful Indian companion, Tonto. After Tonto's gig was over on the Lone Ranger Show, he became a Scientologist, trained up to Class VIII and audited celebrites for CCLA for the first couple of years that Celebrity Centre was open. The great American Indian, Jay Silverheels helped Yvonne Jentzch open Celebrity Centre in Los Angeles. (For those of you who haven't read my account of how Celebrity Centre was founded, either read it or ignore this passage about Tonto - it is an inside joke.)

Hilarious! Nobody is parading on such a beach. People are busy swimming, cooking at the camp fire, playing soft ball. They do all the things that other people do on other beaches. The only difference is that they come home with a uniform sun tan :)

And I'll fly to America for a meeting in the nude when 50% of the people on this planet are on their way to Clear. Promise!

Until then, I am not going to have any such luxury - not even if the former mayor (oooohhhhh one of my favourites...) brings a tent for some privacy.

I haven't been to my father's birthday parties, my brother's wedding and my grandmother's funeral - not to the opera for over 10 years - not to the political demonstrations in 2000 when my country seemed to veer to the right - and only one anti-nuclear march, over 30 years ago.

Priority settings!

Isn't Pebble Beach up by Monterey?

Yes. Pebble Beach is sandwiched in between Carmel and Pacific Grove. Monterey is right in there too. Pebble and Carmel are on the Carmel Bay, which is SW of Monterey Bay.

Some of my best pleasure moments this life have taken place on the beach at Carmel. I spent a good deal of my first twenty-five years with friends and family playing, diving, making out, and hanging out there. It is bragged as the most beautiful beach in the world. Having been a number of places on this planet, I've never seen a more beautiful beach. . . . and it's dog friendly!

Monterey is home to California's first theater, a beautiful old adobe building, they still do melodramas in it. Monterey was also the location of the great sardine fishing fleets and canneries that died out when the sardine ran out. Many of Steinbeck's books take place in the area. These days David Packard's (as in "Hewlett Packard" -HP) daughter has a terrific tourist destination called the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

I did my first ocean dive off Lovers' Point in Pacific Grove when I was just out of high school. Our youngest daughter's first dive was off Cannery Row in nearby Monterey. The water, compared to Hawaii or even LA is cold and murky. Nevertheless, scuba diving is a wondrous experience. I like mingling with fishes.

Out in Carmel Valley, we've taken our horses, ridden up to the top of a mountain, unbridled them, and lazed while the horses rolled in the meadow.

Then there was the time, we spent the night on Garrapata Beach, just south of Carmel. The people, just 100 feet away awoke in the middle of the night being eaten alive by fleas. We were lucky. Garrapata means wood tick in Spanish.

Darn - Why can't C of S finish the Super Power building?

Promise!

We are told that if the Super Power building is completed, it will hasten planetary clearing. Please DM and C of S, can't you guys finish that beautiful building in Clearwater, staff it and begin delivery of Super Power so Heidrun can fly in the nude to america or is it that she flies with her clothes on and attends our meeting at a restaurant in the nude or is it that she dances to the Rolling Stones with us in the nude.

Until then, I am not going to have any such luxury - not even if the former mayor (oooohhhhh one of my favourites...) brings a tent for some privacy.

Heidrun, lighten up, even the Sea Org members are supposed to receive one day "libs" every two weeks plus 3 weeks annual vacation, that is 47 days off every year or 47 billion days off over the term of their contract, the only proviso being that their stats are up and they find a replacement to cover for them. With your work ethic, I have no doubt that your stats are up so couldn't you find a replacement so that you could attend one of our luncheons? Whoops, it is not 47 days off a year but can be either 46 days off or 45 days off each year. The 21 day annual leave could encompass two day's libs if week 1 and week 3 were scheduled for libs or only 1 day's libs if libs was scheduled for week 2. These days of libs can not be counted twice which is the error I was making.

I haven't been to my father's birthday parties, my brother's wedding and my grandmother's funeral - not to the opera for over 10 years - not to the political demonstrations in 2000 when my country seemed to veer to the right - and only one anti-nuclear march, over 30 years ago.

Your dedication can only be admired. Well, I am the last one who would try to get you to lower your high standards, you know what is best for yourself. So, as the British say, carry on!

.

By the way, I checked with Katella bakery and they are willing to allow diners to eat in their restaurant in the nude but unfortuneately "Arnold", raised with proper Austrian Catholic virtues has refused to bend state of California laws and allow his fellow female countryman (or is there such a word as countrywoman) to enter any restaurant or deli without wearing clothes. I am notifying Heidrun of this so she can either bring suitable attire or file a complaint with the Austrian department of State against Arnold for refusing to allow her freedom of expression if she does decide to come after all. The story should be breaking on CNN later today. I am afraid that for the time being, any nudism in California will have to be limited to Black's Beach.

as Dylan sung (back in the mid 60s) - talking about Baez

Oh, there ain't no use in me workin' all the time,
I got a woman who works herself blind,
Works up to her britches, up to her neck,
writes me letters and sends me checks.
She's a humdinger...

I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

The phone rings in the middle of the night
My father yells what you gonna do with your life
Oh daddy dear you know you're still number one
But girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have--

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls-- they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

Some boys take a beautiful girl
And hide her away from the rest of the world
I want to be the one to walk in the sun
Oh girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have

Lakey,

your humor is so refreshing :) :)

I remember a family holiday on the german island Norderney. Or was that on the way to Norderney on a nudist camping site. I was still a child. Naked people would go shopping in a little shop that was part of the camping environment. They would sit at the bar or at coffee tables. Nothing to it.

If it is part of the culture, nobody wastes a thought. Now, just imagine what would happen if you were on holiday in Afghanistan with your lovely daughter, and she showed her ankle, just by accident. This would not be funny at all. I am glad that we are a little ahead of that (not much, but still...)

Sitting at a table, I could handle that as the first gradient. Its getting up and walking around which I don't like and you know, I don't have to even deal with it because society mandates the wearing of clothing. That is just fine with me.

Heidrun - I am sort of touchy on nudity, sort of prudish but I remember in the 1960's there were topless nightclubs down in the area surrounding the Los Angeles main airport, LAX. A lot of times I would take dates to the topless night clubs where all the waitresses were going around topless. For about 5 minutes, it was a novelty and then I paid almost no attention. The waitresses were just college students or young high school graduates who were just trying to make some extra money waitressing. They were all above average in beauty but almost no one was a stunning beauty. As I say, within 5 minutes, during my first visit, the novelty wore off and I paid no attention to them except when they brought me a drink or collected their money. On subsequent visits, it was so routine, almost no one was really paying a lot of attention. Tops are easy to confront for me, bottoms are more difficult. I have backoff on it, feels like it is case phenomena. First of all, I don't feel that genitals are beautiful in and of themselves, the way other parts of the body can be beautiful, You know, a beautiful face, beautiful eyes, lips or beautiful legs, buttocks or breasts, I mean there is an aesthetic kick. I just do not find genitals beautiful to look at. In the privacy of love making, the genitals can feel very nice and can even look inviting but with strangers, who needs to look at that, especially when the person's body is averge or below average in appearance as most bodies are. If genitals are going to be on display, to me it should only be the finest specimens flaunting their bodies. When a flabby, unatractive person is walking around naked as I have seen in the shower rooms of gyms where I have worked out, etc., I find it disgusting looking and at times like that, I thank God that mankind and womankind wear clothes.

Sorry for being prudish, I admire the sense of freedom which you, who are attracted to nudism, are seeking to express. If I never walk on a nudist beach in the nude, it will be too soon for me!

"What do you mean 'we' white man?"

Yes, I have heard that joke several times. I believe I first heard it in 1962 when I first started working in aerospace, some guy told it in the office. His punch line was only "What do you mean, we?" and I didn't get the joke and it took quite a long comm lag before I finally got the joke.

Speaking of jokes, what do you call a person in Florida who is prejudiced against Jews and the local Indians? Give up? The answer is Anti-Seminole! Another one, what do you call a nagging woman who is half Chinese and half Jewish? Answer - An Orienta. Get it, a combinatiion of the words Oriental and Yenta. What do you call an abortion in the Czech Republic? A cancelled check.

I really like Dylan's lyrics in this one and also the lyrics about Joan Baez which follow. He is really quite expressive as a poet.

Well, enough fun and games.

Hi Lakey,

your honesty and insight is totally touching.

I can see from your point of view. Much comes from one's upbringing. I was brought up by nudist parents and to me, the other mindset is unfamiliar, but I can understand your line of thinking!

Whether people run around with or without clothes really doesn't make a difference for me. Under their clothes they are all naked, and I know exactly how they look without clothes. If their figure is out of control, clothes don't hide it, and it tells me instantly where they have issues. To a critical eye, that would make them vulnerable, but to a loving eye, each detail they reveal is one point more where I can do something to help.

Also I agree that there is not much of an aesthetic kick in genitals. Seems that to you the optical sense (vision) is very important. Again there is something different important to me: the amount of beingness that is granted to them. A person who has to hide any part of themselves or their body because its sight is condemned by others is suppressed and unmocked to exactly that degree - whether it's genitals in our culture, faces and pretty much any part of the female body in Islam countries, psychiatrists by Scientologists, obese people by fit people, spiritual awareness by materialists, science by the established churches, or any other part of anyone's beingness, physical, energetic or spiritual.

I simply want a person to be welcomed by their environment in all of their aspects. I want beingness granted to all of their aspects. I want cultures who suppress any aspects of their members to be processed back to sanity.

Imagine a shimmering pearl on your hand. Such a pearl is each and every person in the hand of God, whether they are beautiful or ugly, fat or slim, bright or dumb, aberrated or sane - naked or dressed. They shouldn't have to hide any of their reality. I want people to be seen with the same admiration and care that you feel when you look at the pearl in your hand. And yes, I could go on and on with this, but I think you got the idea!

Heirdrun, I get the idea but.....

Heidrun, thanks for your compliments about my refreshing honesty. From the very beginning of this life, perhaps earlier as well, I have always been open and honest, just innocently stating only truths and always attempting to be "in valence". The only time I will refrain from telling the truth is if someone asks me to so as to help them protect their identity or somesuch.

That is one major reason why I did not fit in well in the Sea Org even though I was a dilligent and hard worker. They demanded a shore story for every action which one took or talked about. They demanded, in the Flag Bureaux, that EVERY piece of paper be run through a shredder before being placed in a waste can. Every action which one took was taken under a false pretext, different from what was actually going on. This was so hard on me and so against my most deeply seeded core values. Every time I opened my mouth, I got into trouble with S.O. Management. Same here, to a much lesser degree on ESMB, I meet with someone in person or talk by phone and am very elated by what they have told me and blab it immediately in a post on this thread. Often the person will immediately contact me and tell me to erase certain passages and is a little pissed off with me for giving out information which might help OSA to figure out their identity. I eat crow and immediately change my post, hoping no one from OSA has read it.

CHILD LIKE QUALITIES AND SPIRIT OF PLAY - I am a 70 year old child. I was not able to get serious about things as I grew up, which I looked at as a shortcoming or character flaw. I first found Buddhism at age 27 and the resulting meditation got rid of some seriousness which I had developed by then and at age 30, Scientology and especially lower bridge auditing got rid of all my seriousness and returned me to a childlike state. I took my child like attitude to the Apollo with me figuring it would be a great asset but onboard the Apollo, a childlike attitude was an anathema. The Apollo was deadly serious, based on the LRH writing that Scientology is a deadly serious activity on which the life of every man, woman and child on Earth depends. I believed in that assertion and deduced that my childlike attitude and totally truthful approach were enormous character flaws which I probably would not be able to correct until OT 8. I ALSO SPOTTED A DICHOTOMY BETWEEN "A DEADLY SERIOUS ACTIVITY" AND OTHER MAXIMS, i.e. "IF IT ISN'T FUN IT ISN'T SCIENTOLOGY." Boy was I confused!! A year after leaving Flag in late 1974 I went up to Sacramento by myself to visit an old non Scio friend. I was at a low point and after my visit to my friend, I noticed a Scio Mission nearby as I was driving away and stopped in. Alan Walters, whom I knew a little from his attending opinion leader meetings at CCLA in 1973 was alone in this mission and talked to me for a good 15 to 20 minutes. Alan gave me some real sound advice and got me to be active in C of S again. That was the last time I ever saw or heard from him. I was shocked when I arrived here one year ago to find that Alan was one of the big icons of ex-Scientology!

Being childlike and being brutally honest and straight up has plus points and out points as far as living one's life. I think the plus points are that one can grow more as a being and reach higher states of awareness than those who habitually lie or are chronically out of valence while the out points have to do with it being harder to be successful in business and make lots of money and also make it harder to woo the opposite sex.

When it comes down to career, the most childlike person I know of was W.A. Mozart who was a child prodigy from the beginning and childlike his entire life. I was not Mozart in any past incarnation, I only wish I was because of his genius and talent. I would give anything to have what he possessed. He was perhaps the most naturally gifted artist in his field of anyone who ever lived and yet he was continually eclipsed by others and not recognized by those in authority who controlled the purse strings of the musical world at that time. Everyone could see that he was an exemplary musician in all facets of music, but they would often select the works of others over those of Mozart. The only person who really recognized Mozart for who he was was the second greatest musician living at that time, Franz Joseph Haydn. It took a man of his great stature to recognize Mozart's full genius but the average devotee of music or opera could not see it at first. Mozart was on the verge of becoming rich and celebrated just when he took ill and died one monnth before his 36th birthday. Even so, his success after his death has been phenomenal. They say that at any given moment of time here on Earth, some piece of his music is being played, either live music or recorded music. To me, he is the poster boy of living a life with a childlike attitude, limited success financially and during his career but receiving his full rewards and then some after he has moved on.
