You make good points but....

When it is all said and done, you play your game.

It is not to honor or blame LRH, it is how you or I played our cards. .. and prior to that.... How we chose the card game we played.

The game of auditing and training is not new. We were doing it prior to the physical universe.

LRH tapped into a rich vein.

James Marshall discovered gold at Sutter's mill in California and changed the lives of many.

Rich veins happen now and again. See the iron horse, telegraph, radio, and internet, as examples.

How you do your due diligence is perhaps something that you want to look at. There have been con men all through time. Learning who to trust and how far is an important skill. As Ronnie used to say, "Trust, but verify."

Part of playing any game is NOT KNOWING everything. The moment you know everything, it is no longer a game, and is certainly no fun.

Perhaps as part of this discussion, you might want to define due diligence for yourself. It is something I did. It isn't something you did.---- as regards Scientology.

Carmelo, you make good points but I am not alone in in my dilemma, there are thousands, perhaps tens of thousands in the same boat as me or even in a worse off boat. I just looked up the term "due dilligence" to make sure I was on the right page. I bought into LRH being infallible and that was based on empirical evidence of me perceiving that he had helped me tremendously in my early years in C of S. He also gave me a means to help others as I audited a couple hundred hours of Dianetics, R3R, and without exceptiion, always helped everyone whom I audited. Based on these many wins I had in my early years, I swore allegiance to LRH. I feel my initial due dilligence was done properly, I am much better off having put in perhaps the first 7 years in C of S than I would be had I not embraced Hubbard 100%.

I am not totally aware of your personal story but I know you are a gifted auditor yourself, mainly just from reading a recent success story from someone you audited. You exercised due dilligence early for yourself and you excelled in being able to do that. For me, after my opinion of C of S slowly started to crack and unravel, I was not able to exercise due dilligence nearly as adeptly as you. I salute you and wish I would have been able to act as you did but that is a different topic than what I am looking at.

I am looking at just one phenomena and that is PTS / SP tech and how LRH handled it when he commissioned McMaster and a team of 6 to discover it. They found what appears to be virtually 100% true tech and delivered it into his hands and he released only about 50% of the correct tech. I paid many times to get de PTSed, taking the Course 4 times and getting the PTS rundown in my auditing. I paid my fees and pursued both the 4 courses plus the auditing with all the skills and abilities at my disposal. I believed in LRH and that he would offer 100% correct Standard Tech in his Church. The true PTS tech came across LRH's desk and for whatever reasons, he withheld 50% of it. Had I received the full 100% tech back in say, 1972, my life would have gone much much better because trusting people too much and being PTS was probably the hottest button on my cse - I can see now, that it was my "RUIN". Had I cleared it up when I was 32, I believe my life may have progressed more like your life has.

SUMMARY
I paid for the full tech, thought I had It and pursued it with dilligence and yet, though I gained some wins, they were only about one half of what they could have been had LRH released 100% of the tech instead of 50%. I eventually found the lost 50% here on ESMB some 38 years later. Without LRH's contributions I never would have had any of the PTS tech at all. As it was, I enjoyed 50% of the tech for 38 years and picked up the other 50% 38 years later. I did not have the abilitiy to discover or figure out the PTS Tech on my own abailities, independently, so should I be grateful to LRH for having 50% of it for 38 years and finding the rest just now or should I be angry at him for the fact that I did not have the full 100% the whole 38 years?

Its a long winded explanation and an "at effect" point of view to even ask such a question but I really am in a quandry as to what my most rational response should be. It is an honest question and raises some valid philosophical points.

Yeah!

Welcome back Sandly, you are back at full strength adding "y's" and "ly's" to names to form nicknames. In response, I took an abbreviated version of your name, "S and L" and added a y to form Sandly. I thought I better mention this again for the benefit of our newer readers, such as IMMORTAL, now christened "mmy" and Hell of a Hoax, now christened "Helly". I see that Mark A Baker wants to opt out of the nickname game, okay, fine.

Well, Sandly, if you can still get a Koffee klatch set for March, do so. I think Newport Beach is out because of the distance, it is far for all of us and for poor Mark, I do not think the Metro Rail line runs out there. You know for somebody to travel from someplace deep in the Valley, say Sylmar, out to Newport Beach, that's got to be equivalent to a guy in New York City going all the way to "Philly" for a coffee get together, not too many people are going to show up. Let's face it, most people who live here in the L.A. area live either in L.A., the Valley, Glendale or Santa Monica areas. The best ocean area would be the Marina, Venice, Santa Monica region. Purple Haze will probably have to miss this one, leaving for Texas on the 19th but that's just the way it is.

By the way, I think Hell of a Hoax did post here once but only once and he did not create one of his funny masterpieces but was relatively serious. Well it is good, Sandly, to see you back being your normal self.

HECTOR - THE CCLA REGISTRAR
FOR YOU CCLA LOVERS, BIG NEWS - THE FORMER INFAMOUS REGISTRAR OF CC, HECTOR, JUST CALLED ME OUT OF THE BLUE BY PHONE! The last time I saw or spoke to him was probably in the early to mid 1980's. He only had 30 minutes to talk but we need probably 4 or 5 hours to get all caught up so we will talk again shortly. Two big SCOOPS from Hector

Scoop #1 - Hector has never written his exist story from C of S. He says he has limited internet skills plus he is not a good writer, I offered to help him write it and get it posted here on ESMB. He has accepted my offer. He says it is a juicy story that will hold people spellbound.

Scoop #2 - As many of you know, I did not arrive at CCLA until about 8 months after they opened for business, that is Yvonne Jentzsch and the mysterious Class 8 Auditor, who I dubbed, Tonto, who opened with Yvonne on Day 1. Tonto is the one who filled me in on the first 8 months but Tonto did only auditing and was not that familiar with the normal admin type activities going on with the rank and file staff during those early months. In talking with Hector, I found out that he was one of the very earliest non tech staff at the Centre and that he held several posts before he was appointed registrar, that two of his cousins were on lines and many other inside details. It looks like I will be able to add another Chapter to my Origins of CCLA story after Hector and I meet up and exchange notes. Just in our phone call, he already expanded my knowledge of the earliest days of that Org.

Good one, Rog!

Lakey,

You can add this to your whys for the crash of stats.

Apart from the abuses, and screw up of results that ought be attained there is one HUGE flaw in the operations of the enterprise, and it began with that first SO mission back in 1967-8.

The operating, public handling orgs are continuously being by-passed by "upper management" and being told what to do . . . often being ripped off what were correct and productive actions to fulfill some idiot's idea of what should be.

The tech is: if you continually by-pass an area or terminal you end up putting it in non-existence!

And this is what the "brilliance" of upper management interference with public service org operations is achieving . . . their demise into non-existence.

RogerB

Roger, this is quite possibly one of your best posts, ever...:thumbsup:I can verify that I witnessed this happening at and around "my" local Mission, before and during the takeover and revolt of Mission Holders. That was really the beginning of the end...so many really talented good productive people were lost, or tossed out.

Yes, I can be Sandfly, or Sandflea for that matter, just take me to the beach! :D Call me anything but don't call me late to dinner! :p

What was the other 50% of the PTS tech that wasn't released?

It pays to read the posts just ahead of the one you are replying to. Go back about three posts or so before mine and read the post by hbeer. She informed us of two sources which supply the other 50% and she links to them both. One is the story by John McMaster, Clear #1, which Carmelo had also posted about a week ago and the other is by a Class IX in Europe named Per Schiott, which was brand new to me. LRH used only about 50% of the tech McMaster and his team developed. Perhaps the most important element in the McMaster discovery was left out and supplanted by Search & Discovery Tech. LRH knew about the vital tech which he left out because he mentions it in passing in one or two HCOB's but he did not mention it in the standard PTS / SP handlings which he issued. It did not become part of PTS tech.

I had it run informally on me over the phone about 4 or 5 weeks ago. Someone who I was working with engaged in a very suppressive act against me which was totally unexpected and pulled the rug from under me. I was really shook up and called an ex who I met on ESMB and got an informal handling over the phone. This missing tech was known by the person who handled me and used on me for the very first time. I blew the whole f..ing consideration, in perhaps 15 seconds, having this tech run on me with very natural TR's. One second, I was caved in and my voice was raspy and then I noticed my voice was back to normal and I could barely remember what I had been talking about. As I looked back trying to regain my train of thought, I realized that the entire aberration had blown and blown for good. If I was on a meter, I'll bet I would have dropped at least 5 dials at a low sensitivity setting and I continued to blow charge over the next 3 or 4 days.

In all honesty, if this missing tech had been run on me iin 1972 or even 1973 after I got my XDN, I do not think I would have had such a huge win all at once because I had such a great auditor runing me this time and also, I am running much much deeper in 2010 than I was in 1972. This last year on ESMB has really changed me and upped my ability to look deep and handle my case.

I took the lead paint course today!

Cakemaker, no problem, I see why you took the latest post only. No problem, we are glad to have you here.

Ogsonofgroo, we have to get Sweet and Light to give you an official nickname! Ogy or Ogsy are the most obvious. How about it Sandflea, can you cook up a suitable nickname for our friend here. Yes, Ogsy, I feel sad about the many high quality and decent people still in the Church still believing they are doing the best thing which they can do to help this planet by being on staff or in the Sea Org. Their heart is in the right place but they need to sharpen up the ability to use their eyes to see deeper into the truth. They need to look to the example set by IMMORTAL!

I took the 8 hour Lead Pain RRP Course today and got my Certificate. It was an interesting course and worth the time and money. For anyone interested in hearing about it, just PM me and I will give you my take on it.

When I was a kid, my father shared with me his growing up experiences, what was going on win the world.

He taught me about bargaining with Safeway for the price of pears. I learned by his side the tricks of sales, getting your price, haggling, and watching for others' signs of being a cheapskate, an slacker, etc. I learned to put really good fruit on the top for the buyer to see, and to get the best price. I learned how others can cheat or bribe.

My father knew guys who ran paving companies. He knew city council members. and owners and brokers of fruit orchards, vegetable farms, nurseries. His friends were Slovenian, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, and anglos. He told me how the Japanese had been rounded up and had all their lands stolen in WWll.

He knew how guys from the paving companies would play golf with city council members, perhaps bet $$500 a hole on the game AND LOSE EVERY HOLE. Next week, when paving contracts were given out, those same paving companies got big contracts.

He knew which council members wouldn't stay bribed. Which ones would.

He told me how he made his car faster than anyone else's when he was in high school. How he outran cops. He taught me how government wastes money and manpower in war and in peace. He told me of the US government not honoring a variety of contracts and agreements. Ask any Indian.

When I was growing up, I wasn't believing the Hollywood story of all happy endings, honest government officials, smart politicians, etc.

my modus operandi at school (K-12) was to be absent about a third of the time. I didn't buy the American history of the glorious white men and the savage Indians. i didn't buy Columbus discovering the new world. I knew because of my outside reading and experiential data that marijuana was not a narcotic. The definition of "narcotic" is sleep inducing.

Then there was the war in Viet Nam. My theme was closer to Country Joe and the Fish.

What I'm illustrating with the above examples is that I was more than willing to see and deal with the underbelly of people and organizations.

When I got involved with it. This Oat Tea gave a intro lecture and talked about making the lights all turn green for him in San Francisco with mind over matter. My take was his elevator didn't go to the top floor. Lights in the City are timed for cars to do a certain speed. They make them that way.

When I got to know the people who ran the center, I had no trouble hearing all of the stories from Flag. How Ron put little kids in chain lockers. I knew (still know) one of them. How Ron got rid of anyone he was jealous of (Jack Horner, Rocky Stump, Alan Walter, etc). Before I was Clear, I knew he was an SOB that I didn't want to get too close to.

As for processing, I knew the basics -- leave the PC with a win, love your PC, get the PC through it, etc. I audited and audited. I got good results using Scientology. much like my upbringing, I was comfortable with truth (savory, unsavory, beneficial, useful, whatever). I was close to a lot of really sharp auditors. Auditors and C/Ses didn't mince words. Nobody I hung with painted PR pictures. It was common knowledge that John McMaster and AOLA's first Clear, also, were gay. It wasn't like gossip, just common knowledge. Otto beat somebody up, you heard about it.

And on this "Who or what would item represent?" The PC invariably found a "What" in relation to his own behaviour or his own conditions of existence that got restimulated by the actions of the other person and caused what appeared to be the symptons of a "Potential Trouble Scource" as it was later called.

- John McMaster

let me just add that the "what" is generally speaking a symptom or condition of or sub set of or the basic negative side of his GPMs.

In other words his / her Achilles' Heel.

If you are a person who works for love and runs from hate, someone calling you a bad housekeeper is not going to send you over the deep end.

On the other hand if order versus chaos are your items, the statement as above, will send you over the cliff.

It is important, in order to be (word) bulletproof, to know your core dichotomy. If you know your weakest point of relating to others and the dynamics, you can own it better, and become less the effect of similar opposition terminals. forgive the jargon. I can't seem to just use English.

Just a quick thanks to Mark A. Baker for his kind words regarding my win. Now on to the body of this post:

Carmelo - You have given us an outstanding, quite thorough and entertaining essay on "STREET SMARTS", how you got them in particular and how one would get them in general. Also, both you and your Dad seem to have had no trouble in not conforming to middle class ideals to and also to breaking away from the crowd and doing what you though was best not what the school teachers or society thought constituted good citizenship.

You never have mentioned your "Religious Practice". It must have been Cathololic, right? Did your Dad ever buy into that and did you ever buy into it? Did you do scouting, take music lessons or any of that stuff?

A KEY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN US You learned from your Dad while, like with so many other youth, I thought I was smarter than my Dad. My Mom and Dad paid lip service to Judaism and sent us to Sunday School and they lived through the Great Depression and WWII and idolized Franklin Roosevelt and hated the Republican party, as being only for the rich, and were committed Democrats their entire lives.

My Dad was a committed Dad but never sat down and tried to teach me that the "system" had corruptness in it and how to "play the game" and take advantage of the system. I learned all the standard information given to any "good American" and accepted it ALL at face value. Here again, empirically, it made sense to accept the American Ideal as being the proper way to live. Being about 11 years older than you, my awareness as a kid started just as WWII was ending and how glorious life in America was as I started elementary school. AMERICA WAS JUST LIKE A NORMAN ROCKWELL PAINTING Like the Chevy commercial says, it was baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet and maybe Ford too. The only obvious detrimental factor to me were the Jim Crow laws in the South.

The alternate views to America all seemed evil and threatening. We had just taken out Nazism, Japanese Imperialism and Fascism. Our world was nearly perfect. The one alternative to our way of life, was Communism as practiced in the USSR and later in China. Communism seemed nearly as bad as Nazism. We were all died in the wool Americans. If we could just obtain racial equality in America and ease the threat of Communism, life appeared Idyllic. I did not like how the Indians were treated by the European Whites but just sort of that aside as another form of racism which had to be cleaned up.

It was in this tradition that I was raised and I bought into it. I never would do anything out of the box such as smoke pot (well they did not even offer until I was in my 20's). I would have willingly served in the Viet Nam war although, working in aerospace, I was able to escape being drafted. TO SUM IT UP BRIEFLY, I HAD NO STREET SMARTS AND NO KNOWLEDGE HOW TO PLAY THE GAME other than to be a "Miss Goodie Twoshoes." My parents were just there in the background, just kind and decent people always doing what they could to support me and my Brother. They really did not try and mold me and had they tried, I thought they were old fashioned and probably would not have listened.

Your ability to see and deal with the underbelly of life and people stood you in good stead. You were able to evaluate both the good and the bad in Scientology objectively. For me, I was a set up, a patsy for them. I believed virtually every claim made at my Intro Lecture.

SCIO's MONEY BACK GUARANTEE - I was told that C of S had a money back guarantee. I asked myself how it could be a con game if one could get his money back if the subject did not work. I just figured that if it did not work, people would just ask for their money back and leave and the "Church" would have shut down years ago instead of being in the process of celebrating their 20th anniversary. I just figured either it was a con game or it worked, just two choices, black or white. Hubbard had it figured out so perfectly, to get people in on a gradient and give them tools, such as the TR's, the ARC triangle and the Tone Scale which they could use right away and get results with and then promise them the big major gains further up the line.

Well,Carmelo, thanks for your PRIMER on how to develop STREET SMARTS and not fall for the PR of something and to see the potential ugly underbelly of things. For younger people reading your post, if they duplicate what you say, their lives will certainly be greatly enhanced.

Weekend Poem: A Bridge of Love

A Bridge of Love

11.03.2010

(c) 2010 by Heidrun Beer

a deeply knowing brother holds my hand
whose other hand is touching our root
(connecting through a man of light, who's
standing in between) - he leads me in
transcending human ways: how life
is to be seen.

my other hand again is holding you,
who still is based in healthy human views;
and on your other hand there is a girl,
struggling with human error, human pain...
and she again holds people who are out
of sight... each one of us is holding two.

I see a chain, where all of us receive
from higher up and give to those below,
a line of life, as long as we can keep
in touch and do not tire to feed the flow.

if only we don't let each other slip away
and our hands do never fail to firmly hold
this bridge of love: who knows, one day
we may prevail in reaching all the way

down into the abyss of hell, and lift our
sister souls back up to their abode above,
from which so long ago so terribly they fell.

any suggestions for how to find the lead paint certification course in Orgeon?

Carmelo - We aim to please. If you go to http://www.epa.gov/lead you can get all of them in the USA and territories. I looked up Oregon and came up with 4 schools, all in Portland:

AMEC Earth and Environmental
7376 SW Durrham Rd.
(503) 630-3400

Western Regional Lead
19505 E. 176th Ave.
(503) 761-2800

Unlimited Choices Lead & Learning Center
211 S.E. 80th
(503) 360-7138

Community Energy Project
(503) 284-6827

It might pay to call them all, the schools set their own prices, they are not all uniform. I paid only $185 in Anaheim including breakfast, lunch and materials.
