The "Why" we feel good being duplicated on this thread!

FoTi,

Please don’t think less of your value than is true. While you may not have some of the things that, perhaps, you would prefer to be able to contribute, your actual contributions and participation on the board are magnificent . . . . and I don’t say that just to placate you.

You see, it is because of you and folks like you that I have continued to spend the time posting as I have.

You see, there is a principle involved

To be received, duplicated and understood by good folks is very spiritually empowering. And that is the value and power of the good folks who do receive, duplicate, appreciate and validate . . . the communication exchange becomes a very spiritually empowering exchange for those involved in it.

There is a tech reason behind it, of course. LRH addressed it, nearly got it right, touched on it but didn’t take it to true fruition. Remember in the Axioms of SOP-8? He said: “The basic action of existence is duplication.”

Well, that’s close enough for today. You see, when good folks, harmonious up tone folks duplicate each other . . . that is, when they duplicate the presence, Being, communication of each other, they are actually indulging a co-create and a co-empowerment.

That is why good folks can feel so “up” when they exchange in an up tone way as we have often seen on this thread “Aboard the Apollo—1973”

At that level of co-action all of the finer uplifting characteristics of interchange and relationship obtain: love, mutual respect, honor, appreciation, contribution to each other’s well being and expansion, etc., all these co-empowering virtues and attributes of the spirit manifest. It’s a winning scenario.

Of course the negative types try to demean it as “lovey-dovey” . . . . but it is to be noted they do not duplicate: they only ever challenge and make wrong and work to bring down. :duh:

So, my Love, honor your value . . . you are a safe terminal! An empowering, co-creating safe terminal.

And what is more valuable than that!?? (I don’t know what is. )

For, you see, it is a co-created game we are involved in . . . if it was a co-negating, co-destroying game as some attempt; or even a game based on the ignoring of each other, where would we be? :puke:

So honor your presence and participation as I do and as it ought be.

RogerB

Thanks Roger for giving us the tech on why many of us often feel blown out dialoging on this thread and other forums on which we participate. One of my early techniques at the beginning of the thread was to try and duplicate and then acknowledge everyone who posted here. I did not know the technical elements behind doing this but just knew pragmatically that it attracted viewers who would post here and then return and post more. Receiving the actual tech of why this technique works is very helpful and I am appreciative. I highlighted the passages in blue which meant the most to me. Those are some very powerful passages!!

A sincere well meaning being who knows that there is something he/she does know is very valuable. In my opinion, knowing that one does not know it all, right off the bat puts such a person in an elevated status in society. Just by knowing that they do not know, the person already knows more than most. Such people are always great assets to have on a discussion panel and such people more often than not ask questions and/or make comments from which others can learn.

Thanks for the info and offer of help!

In many ways it is a "pseudo-science", or at least an extremely soft "science" not strongly rooted in objectivist principles. However, for that reason there are in fact many psychologists who are not at all materialist in their thinking.

Psychology is a study of the mind and that does have strong connections to studies in brain function. But brain function evidently does not wholly determine mental function. There has been much research in psychology which has provided evidence to suggest this viewpoint.

Given your daughter's degree in psychology you might want to introduce her to the subject of Metapsychology. There are some excellent people working in that field. Some of those whom you met on the 4th have excellent contacts in the Metapsychology field.

[n.b. Let me know if your daughter decides to go to germany for a trip. I've an ex-scientologist friend with a background in psychological counselling who lives in a charming medieval era city there. She's not a metapsychology practitioner nor does she post on esmb, but nonetheless your daughter may well find some of her work in consciousness studies to be of interest.]

Mark A. Baker

Thank you Mark! I appreciate your comments and your offer to hook me and my daughter up with your psychologist friend in Germany.

Unfortunately, my daughter just turned 23 this week and I am 70 1/2 and guess what, she thinks I am hoplessly old fashioned and out dated and doesn't take advice from me anymore. I am old enough to be her grandpa, after all. Of course I don't have the mind and outlook of a 70 year old and I think she does see that.

She is down visiting today. I always loved to work the daily crossword puzzle while we were raising her. A few years ago, she began to start working the puzzle in the daily papers and my Son, who hated crosswords has now started doing them as well.

I just showed my daughter that video on the SURF Ice Dog and she asked me if I would give her some accupressure on her left shoulder and the nape of her neck which are chronically out of alignment. After the SURF Ice Dog video, she asked if I would like to work the L.A. TImes Crossword together and I said yes so she just brought the crossword up on my computer and we worked it together while I worked on her neck and shoulder with accupressure.

She is getting pretty good at the crosswords now, but we oldtimers have an edge since some of the answers are based on information from the 30's, 40's, 50'sand 60's. Anyway, I still have the lightening memory for the recall of crossword answers and I rubbed it in and told her I am not brain dead and don't have Alzheimer's Disease. She said, "Dad, I never said you had Alzheimers!" I responded to her that she tends to think I am brain dead and she insisted that she does not think that. Anyway, we worked the puzzle for about 45 minutes and the whole time I was working giving her the accupressure treatment. Her entire neck and should alignment nearly totally straightened out. I could not believe how many nodes and ligaments, etc. I got to slide into place.

Interacting mentally and with touch on my daughter and being in close comm with her for those 45 minutes was a major enjoyment for me. There is a bonding that took place between us when she was a little tyke and she is special to me, maybe more so than any other person. Now, when I don't see her much, it was so rewarding to spend those close 45 minutes with her and still be part of her life.

The thing is, Mark, these kids, when they reach young adulthood do not usually accept their parents any longer as their opinion leaders, at least in my case. I will relay to her what you told me but don't look for her to act on it. I realize that my Son and daughter are adults now and that they do not look to me as their opinion leader any longer. It is a bit difficult but I have to get comfortable with that idea.

BTW, the founder of Metapsychology, Sarge, is retired now & lives not far from the Bay Area. He's a hell of an interesting guy, extremely intelligent and an amateur musician.

If any of you super star sparkling theta particles are genuinely interested in learning how Scientology damages cognitive functioning, you can't go past Robert Devine's Declaration in support of the Headley's case, which is linked to here:

http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?t=19232

. . . should be compulsory reading for exes.

Thank you Blippy, I've read it. :) Hope it does some good!

Here is the version that is easiest on the eyes:

and thank you Paul!

Thanks blip for posting this Declaration.....I actually read the one on Paulsrabbit.....so thanks to Paul also. It was a very good read. I'm glad that Robert Devine wrote it. It helped me to see some things.

:bigcry: Thank you, Roger. It's kind of hard for me to look at things this way after the experiences I've had with others this lifetime. I've never really been around people like you. I've kind of become a hermit to avoid being smashed by others. Seems like anytime I venture out and trust anybody I end up getting stepped on and don't know how to overcome that. I feel crushed and don't want to go anywhere or do anything anymore and life doesn't seem worth living anymore. I feel like I can't overcome things anymore and I don't have any future. I don't fit in with the people around me and it seems like I'm getting too old to have anything to look forward to anymore. I'm alone, no husband, no family, no job, no friends, no money, no education to work with, no desire to create anymore, no ideas of what to do with my life now, no games I can think of that I want to play. I had an extremely devistating experience about a year ago that really crashed me and I haven't been able to recover from it no matter how I try......maybe I'm just coming to the end of my life. Sorry to stick this here, but I don't have anyone else to talk to. I know this isn't a good post - nothing anyone can benefit from. You can throw me out now, if you want.

A point I'd like to add

Hi all,
I've been readig this thread, and I can't say I've gotten more than 10% through it, but I'd like to respond to Roger's comments earlier about getting the nearest right answer, not necessarily The Right One, and also on whoever it was who realized he wanted not to be the ED, but to help him.

I attended a talk recently by a Jesuit on ethics. He made the point that one can approach life on the basis of competition, or on the basis of cooperation. One can try to win, to be better than others, more successful than others, richer than others. If he does that, he will always lose. Always there will be others who in their turn will win, or at least he will be worried that they will, in which case he himself will not have won. Of course, there's one of him and an infinity of others, so the probability that he will win always is vanishingly small, anyway.
On thew other hand, if he simply tries to make things better in a pan-determined fashion, he will achieve that. If you like he will win, but not over anyone else, just over negativity.

I think that LRH in his determination that NOTs showed finally that we are all individual, not part of a great unity, showed his lack of understanding of physics. It is clear (at least to me) that it is possible to be both - to be individual and be a union. There is no reason to suppose that the rules which govern physical processes don't have their origin in whatever rules govern the theta universe - presumably they reflect each other. We must therefore expect that quantum proceses operate in theta terms as well, in which case how things are will depend on how they are looked at.

It's nice to find such interesting things on ESMB - I had despaired of it but Mark Baker told me to check out this thread. Thank you Mark!

My Friend FoTi

Please think again. I will be 76 next month, I am in a wheelchair, I take 15 medications a day, I only have one breast (masectomy), I am divorced, I am so poor that I have Medicare and Medicade, I can't stop smoking, I am over weight, I live in subsidized Senior Housing, everyone in my family except for an adopted brother have passed away, and some days I have a shitty attitude.

However, I have a Gratitude Journal and each day I write what I am grateful for. I am grateful that although 76 my mind is as sharp as it was at 26. I am grateful that I have an electric wheelchair to zip around in. I am grateful that there are meds to handle my physical problems. I am grateful that the doctor found the cancer in my breast and I only lost a breast and not my life. I am grateful that I was aware enough to divorce my last husband 29 years ago and find I survive much better on my own. I am grateful for the Social Security I paid into many years and the programs that allow me to handle my illnesses. I am grateful for the cigarettes and the and the effects they have on me. Maybe one day I will stop being grateful for them and stop smoking. I am grateful that I have good stuff to eat like chocolate and peach pie and I am overweight not obese. I am grateful that I live with people my own age who recognize an old song when I hum it, and mostly are wise with wisdom that comes from experience. I am grateful that I had the parents and sisters for the many years they were with me and that I know I will see them again. I am even grateful for my adopted brother, even if we don't get along all that well. At least he married a wonderful woman who is my angel and helps me in many ways. I am even grateful for the days I have a shitty attitude because I am reminded that an attitude is the easiest thing to change. Most of all I am gratefull for Gods' love and amazing grace and know without these I would be a basket case.

FoTi, please, re-asses your situation and look for things you are grateful for. I think you will find your blessings.

Welcome to the thread Roland, nice to have you posting. I don't know if I would read the entire thread, right off the bat. The early pages from about 1 to 20 are just my stories, first at the Apollo (even though that came second) and then a prequel to that covering my time at CCLA. If you have any connection to those two places are would just like to know about them, they are a good entertaining read.

After page 20 or so, we branch out into many areas, both frivolous and light hearted and serious and technical. Its worth reading it all but it is a lot of reading.

SHOULD IT BE PUT IN BOOK FORM? Does anyone think the contents of the thread should have an index or a Table of Contents? It is so big now, 385 pages and growing bigger day by day. I believe Face read the whole thing from scratch and so did Gary York just recently.

For now, each new reader will have to chose how much of the thread they want to read before they start contributing in present time.

Roland, I found your comments interesting. The concept of being both an individual and a union and relating that to quantum mechanics in the physical universe is interesting. I don't think that matter has been discussed quite in those terms either here or elsewhere. The type of union I like is the concept of spiritual teammates, not the concept of being occupied by demons or hostel entities.

Here's looking forward to your reading our thread and posting here often.

Believe it or not you are not alone in having these feelings. I love what AuntPat says, she is right. No matter the black holes we sometimes face, finding things to be grateful about is a huge help. Baby steps.... to overcome the looming darkness, we need to find that small light to show us there are choices and we can always create change, even if it is small. Small things grow, believe me. Please reach out to friends you have here, and they do exist, you just may not know them yet, ok? :) I've sent a pm.

Everyone who is one this thread has friends.

FoTi - Don't you know by now that you have dozens of friends on this thread. The type of people here are people you can count on. I am going to PM you so give me a call for one. I am sure there are others who will be happy to help you, I got a PM similar to yours from a person on this thread last November. This guy is doing great right now, not through any help of mine, other than friendship, but he hooked up with some people who have helped him straighten out.

I'd rather have the truth over "good roads and good weather" any day.

May I throw out an idea or three?

Some years ago, on a list long since gone, I invited people to co audit by telephone. i got a lot of people co auditing.

Auditing is very easy. It is not (unless we're talking listing and nulling), difficult the way the Co$ made it out to be.

Why not find someone to run processes on and who can run you on stuff?

I've been auditing others by phone for a couple of decades. It is child's play. I can be auditing a guy in Denmark during his morning, while walking my dog in the surf of the Pacific Ocean at 10 PM at night. It is no harder than talking to someone else on a phone.

A friend and I, in the 60s, used to just sit for hours looking at one another, not talking. We would get huge as beings. We did that 3 - 5 times a week for a couple of years. We had never heard of Scientology at that time. Can you find someone, who might want to do that?

When my youngest daughter was in college, she was in the play "Rent." Before each show, she'd grab another cast member, sit them down, explain just sitting there, being present to them, and then do that for fifteen minutes or so. They both, would then, go on stage in a very big way - as beings. It made her projections to the audience much more effective.

Finally, my last suggestion: there is a guy, who I know, who is auditing anyone he can get his hands on, on power and power plus by telephone for free. He is a returnee. He was in Scientology last lifetime. I've talked to him a couple of times. He seems really well qualified to me. If you have interest in this, PM me, and I'll give you his e mail address. Power run quad is dynamite great stuff. I do it, but I charge money, real stiff money.

I agree, wholeheartedly, with what you wrote about individual and union.

I LIKE her place. You did good by her. I agree with you about good schools opening doors. For many years afterward, a large chunk of my work opportunities came from contacts I made via people I went to college with.

It was such a deal. With the $10K from the feds, the $8K from the state for new home buyers, and her parents 3% real estate commission thrown in, the purchase was a no money down deal. Our mortgage broker (who was my PC when she was twelve years old) qualified her, even though our daughter hadn't been working the last two years while doing grad school. The condo was $200K less than it was 2 years ago. We had initially tried to buy it then, but the whole place got foreclosed, and all deals were ended. It turned out for it to be better by waiting.

Now is the time to buy real estate. Anybody with kids, should be getting their kids foot in the door of a house or condo purchase. There are some awful good deals out there.

While I'm on my soap box, if you own a house or condo right now, you should look into refinancing. We're refinancing our house to get a 4 and 3/8 per cent fixed loan. It is well worth the time and effort.

Thanks for the pm, and for being helpful. Much appreciated.

Lakey

Thanks for the encouragement, Lakey, and for the PM.

There are some wonderful books with journaling processes that can help bring these out. They're positive processes, e.g., write down 25 things you're grateful for.

Julia Cameron's Right to Write is full of them, for example.
