Excellent point. Hubbard at first merely de-eemphasized the body, then started taking pot shots at it and for the later part of his life he specialized in degrading it and then not-ising it. He had tremendous overts against his own body as well as those of his staffs, in particular Sea Org Members.
How could a very wealthy man allow his teeth to be all black and decayed in 1968 when he gave that videotaped interview to the BBC reporter on the Apollo? That was bad, but was child's play compared to the rigors which he put his body into in subsequent years.
From his early 60's on, he body was wracked with strokes, high blood pressure, heart attacks, rotten teeth, etc. Why is this considered so OT. It is'nt that he was so elevated as a being that his body was of only very minor concern to him. That is what we active Scientologists were led to believe and I totally bought into it at that time.
My friend Edey, who will turn 60 next week has an extremely healthy body, still very youthful, toned and sexy. She eats Vegan and drinks Gallons of alkaline and ionized water. I watch her stretch and bend forward and put her palms on the floor and then stretch lower where she can almost lay her elbows through wrists flat on the floor with her knees locked straight.
Today's 60 year old woman - my friend Edey

I am learning more about the body at this point in my life. It is an amazing mechanism and piece of machinery. I am nearly 71 and don't have any aches and pains of aging and have 20/20 vision, read without glasses and have perfect and acute hearing as well as the same reflexes I had when I was 35.
One's body is no end all to survive for but it can be our friend and provide many years, perhaps decades more of healthy vibrant livingness to us then what is agreed on by our society. You know, a person gains wisdom as he or she goes through life. Let's say someone attains great wisdom at 60 and dies at 65 and another person attains great wisdom at 60 and dies at 100. Why not put your wisdom to use and enjoy it for 40 years instead of 5 years?
Why not make an effort to take care of one's body. Since our memories tend to be wiped out and our goals reset after body death, it seems to me that it makes sense to maximize one's healty and useful years by being respectful of his own body. LRH saw things differently and look what it got him.
